President Barack Obama's big panic! Congress members gave their phone numbers to guys in Gay Nightclub! It's all happening folks!

Image via Wikipedia

According to the press,on 13th July 2011, the President told them he “sorta freaked out” because he had not had a phone call, email or written briefing in the previous 24 hours. He seemed unsettled by this rather than thinking “happy days, less work to do and I still get paid!” He actually watched CNN to make sure that telecommunications had not been disrupted. Maybe he even wondered if he had been ousted from his post? It is definitely odd that the President of the United States of America had absolutely no communications for 24 hours. I bet he checked his cell phone to see if it had been charged and there were enough bars on it to receive calls. I know I would have. Maybe the technical staff of the White House pulled the plug for a while to check if there were any espionage bugs or if hacking was going on.

According to eye witness reports there were 535 members of congress in a gay nightclub called Mermaids, where they were said to have given out their numbers to a lot of guys in the club. Business or pleasure I ask myself? This was in Washington on 18th July 2011 and one wonders what size that nightclub was if 535 members of congress were in there with all the regular customers. One heck of a big nightclub! And… okay… you can not convince me that 535 congress men are gay or even bisexual. So what if a few are? The President is cool on gay rights, just a bit oblivious about the issue of gay marriage.

Nigeria is no doubt living up to the status of the Africa's giant in the area of telecommunications. The recent report by International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has shown that the country now has the highest number of internet users in the continent of Africa.

According to the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), Nigeria now has the highest number of internet users in the whole of Africa. In its recent report, ITU states that Nigeria has surpassed Egypt, Morocco, South Africa and Kenya to become the Africa’s largest internet market.
The ITU report estimated that 43 million Nigerians make use of the internet and this according to it is responsible for 40 per cent of the Africa’s internet traffic.
The Africa’s most populous black nation takes over from Egypt which had previously occupied the position with 12.6 million users that access the internet from the northern part of the African region.
Introduction of Global System for Mobile Telecommunications
The advent of democratic system of government in Nigeria in 1999 which saw to the introduction of Global System for Mobile Telecommunications (GSM) facilitated an unprecedented improvement in the country’s means of communication. Prior to this time, Nigerians relied on Nigerian Telecommunications (NITEL) for its means of communication both locally and internationally. The corruption that crept into the organization coupled with prohibitive cost of ‘land lines phones’ discouraged many Nigerians from using the NITEL services.
The introduction of GSM by the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2000 marked the beginning of a new dawn in the country’s telecommunications sector. Although, when it was initially introduced, the cost of sim cards and phones were very high but today findings from the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) shows that more than 50 per cent of Nigerians are now using GSM to make both local and international calls.
The GSM also affords many Nigerians and expatriates with the opportunity of being gainfully employed in many of the telecommunications outfits that have secured license of operation in Nigeria.
Factors That Encourage Internet use in Nigeria
The introduction of GPRS, 3Ds and other services by GSM service providers in the country are some of the factors responsible for increase in the use of internet in Nigeria.
Today, the country is witnessing an unprecedented increase in the number of cyber cafes that afford Nigerians with the opportunity of surfing the internet anytime, they so desire. The CDMA mobile network also gives many Nigerians avenue to surf the internet at the comfort of their various homes.
The quest for knowledge by majority of Nigerians is also another factor that has been identified by Nigerian Communication Commission to be responsible for the increase in the use of internet in the country.
Nigeria’s Rise in the World Mobile Market
Nigeria, apart from being the largest internet market in Africa is also one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world. A recent study conducted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development shows that the Nigerian telecommunications market is among the fastest growing mobile markets in the world, with a 125% average annual growth rate in the number of subscribers and mobile fixed lines. Today, many investors in the world take advantage of the Nigeria’s growing mobile market to invest in the sector.
Egypt and Morocco have been the two countries in the region with the highest number of internet users. According to ITU, Egypt has 12.6 million users, Morocco has 10.3 millions users, Kenya and Algeria have 3.5 million internet users. With these reports, Nigeria is now both the Africa’s largest mobile and internet market.
Based on this, it is expected that the Nigerian government will use the opportunity to further improve on other sectors of the economy in order to be able to justify its ‘Giant’ status in Africa.

Double Degreea Masters Program is an opportunity for Indian students to pursue free education in Blekinge Institute of Technology University (BTH), Sweden. This program is a part of Exchange studies offered at BTH University, which benefits students by offering them with quality European education.

Double Degree Masters Program for Indian students in BTH University

Double Degree Program/Double Diploma Program (DDP) was started in the year 2007.

Presently more than 100 students are enrolled in the Dual Degree programs (DDP) and out of which nearly every student received residence permits from Swedish embassy, New Delhi. This indicates the popularity of this program. The students enrolled are made to get acquainted with Swedish education system, which enables them get ready before they arrive to BTH.Current programs offered in DDP by BTH:

Masters in Software Engineering

Masters in Telecommunications

Masters in Signal Processing

Benefits by joining DDPThe benefit obtained by joining this program are:

You will adapt to new culture and new education system

Free Swedish education

You will obtain two Masters degree. One from BTH and other from respective Indian University you joined

Current Story and few SuggestionsTwo batches of Indian students made their journey to Sweden after clearing all the subjects in first semester examination in single attempt. Though students with only 55% in their Bachelor’s degree are made eligible to this program, they are doing their best to complete this program. Many Indian students failed in either one or two examinations. Swedish education is very tough here. It is meant only for determined hard workers. Usually, Assignments are tough. They need good thinks and generating ideas. They have to be done either in groups or as individuals. Students have to practice writing articles in ACM and IEEE format. Students should not copy from any other source. Copying is strictly prohibited. Copying some other work is considered as Plagiarism and such an act would be not be tolerated by Swedish law. Students caught in Plagiarism would be permanently dismissed from their respective subject or entire course. So never try to copy but study and put your own ideas on paper. Final examinations pattern is similar to Indian pattern. Just writing answers for given questions in set duration. Here also, copying is strictly prohibited. No All in One books are available in Sweden! Student and Professor/Lecturer communication is well established both in class rooms and on Internet through an online portal called It’s Learning. You have to submit your assignments on It’s Learning within mentioned deadline. Deadlines are strictly enforced. Once a deadline for an assignment is reached, you will automatically get an F grade (Fail). Don’t expect for good and decent part-time jobs. You will never be able to manage both your education and part-time job. You can work for Svensk Direktreklem (Swedish Advertising Newspaper) as a distributor. You will have to work only on weekends. But most of these jobs are filled. You will find part-time or full-time jobs only when you know Swedish language. So better learn Swedish language before coming to Sweden for better opportunities. The first batch students who arrived Sweden on March 31 are all working on their Master thesis.

Use your mobile phone to make work and life easier for you. It can improve your business efficiency and reduce your stress.

If you are like most people today you probably own a mobile phone. Have you considered using your mobile phone to run your office? Reduce the amount of time you spend doing tedious and non-productive tasks and increase the reliability of your work. Many tasks you do for your office work can be done easily using your mobile phone.

Large amounts of data and information can be stored in your mobile, and you can look at programming your phone to automate work that has to be done. Your address book contact information is easily stored and retrieved in your mobile, and scheduling your appointments for the week and month is easy now because all the information you need is already in your phone. Alarms are great to remind you of upcoming appointments so you can travel to them and prepare for them. If you work with products or services which you need to keep track of, your phone could keep up to date inventories and save you the time of counting and checking, again and again.

Just think how efficient you can be with your time when all of this is in the palm of your hand.

Use the writing features of your phone to store your memos and notes you take throughout the week, and then forward them to email addresses and fax numbers. Set up your mobile to receive information you need. If its news, financial information, or sports updates, you can have it sent directly to your mobile phone.

Organize all your contact information of clients, friends, groups or contacts and program your phone to automatically follow up with these people so you are always in touch. Get rid of that worry of having to remember so many dates and times, tell your mobile to do it for you.

Look into doing your banking with your mobile phone and ordering things you need in your office, for your business or for yourself. You could pay your bills, manage your money, and buy things all in one convenient way.

Mobile phones and services can help you run your office from the palm of your hand.

Let your mobile help you free up your time for other things, and let you feel safe that all your tedious work is being done correctly.
