Security agencies conned into issuing fake May six terror alert?

Were Indian security agencies conned into issuing the May 6 terror alert when photographs of four traders and a security guard from Pakistan were splashed as those of Lashkar terrorists who had sneaked into India to carry out attacks in Mumbai?

As the government probes the embarrassment which on Sunday sparked protests from traders in Lahore, they are closely looking at the possibility of an Indian intelligence operative having been hoaxed by Pakistani tricksters who have been seeking to exploit India’s anxiety to prevent terror attacks from across the border.

Sources in the government said that post-26/11, conmen have been approaching Indian agencies and journalists; in one case even a politician, offering “credible information” for money.

The usual modus operandi is to offer “information”; for instance a photograph of what is claimed to be an ISI facility or a terrorist training camp at an undisclosed location deep inside Pakistan. Although the veracity of “inputs” cannot be ascertained, Indian agencies with their dire need for intelligence on terror plots are compelled not to disregard them. Confidence gained, the tricksters are in business, regularly peddling information for amounts which have increased considerably after the attack on Mumbai.

Only in this instance, the swindlers artfully raised their game by passing off photographs of the “terrorists” who had sneaked in Mumbai via the sea route and the details of their plan to target Mumbai. The Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) deemed the intelligence so sensitive and credible that it was instantly shared with the Intelligence Bureau, leading the Multiple Agency Centre to alert police in Maharashtra and Gujarat against what appeared to be an attempt to repeat 26/11. Sources don’t rule out the possibility of “sources” having been even handsomely rewarded for the information.

In the event, three of the terrorists turned out to be mobile phone traders operating from Lahore’s popular electronic market Hafeez Centre. Another member of the group is an employee with one of the shops, while the remaining one is a security guard working there.

All of them approached Lahore Police for protection after they got to know about reports in Indian media about the alert against their presence in Mumbai for a major terrorist attack.

The bungle, which has many in Pakistan gloating, has led to calls for setting up a national data base of intelligence sources who could regularly be audited for credibility. It has also underlined India’s continuing inability to access reliable real-time information on Pakistan-based terror groups who represent a major security challenge.

With no credible network of their own in Pakistan, Indian agencies are forced to depend on paid contacts, many of them smugglers and petty criminals, who move across the border and return with sensational claims for a payment. It is feared that the shadowy set could well be working for agencies in Pakistan too. In fact, many in the Indian security establishment suspect that one such double agent could be behind the May 6 fraud perpetrated on RAW.

Yet, intelligence agencies are compelled to remain engaged with the cross-border operatives who, besides being paid, are also allowed to carry on with their criminal activities. “These cross-border contacts seem to know the helplessness of our agencies, and are adept at exploiting it,” an official said.

So there is no let up in the flow of “information” from “Pakistani contacts”. Just before Republic Day this year, RAW came up with a sensational claim that over 100 Pakistan-trained terrorists had gathered at various launch pads across the international border and Line of Control, waiting for an opportunity to sneak into India. These terrorists were to target Mumbai and Delhi. Of them, some 20 were trained for underwater operations, the alert claimed. After several rounds of meetings in the security establishment, serious questions emerged about the credibility of the information, leading RAW to quietly withdaw the alert.

A similar “intelligence” industry exists, although on a much smaller scale, along the Bangladesh border too. Last year, the West Bengal police “sourced” photographs of two alleged terrorists who were planning to attack Mumbai. A detailed scrutiny revealed that the photographs were fake.

In fact, Assam police for years kept issuing alarming terror alerts based on their cross-border contacts. They have stopped doing so after an overwhelming majority of warnings turned out to be spurious.

US sanctions Dawood Ibrahim's two top aides.

Washington, DC: The United States on Tuesday designated underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s two close aides as key drug traffickers and placed sanctions on them aimed at constricting their access to business and financial networks.

The Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control designated Chhota Shakeel and Ibrahim ‘Tiger’ Memon as Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers for their roles as part of ‘D Company’, a criminal group run by Dawood.

It said Mumbai-born 57-year-old Chhota Shakeel is Dawood’s lieutenant who coordinates for D Company with “other organized crime and terror groups.”

The department said Memon, 52, is a trusted lieutenant of Dawood and controls D Company’s businesses across South Asia and is also wanted by India for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai bombings that killed more than 250 people.

“Treasury continues to target the nexus of crime and terrorism in South Asia with today’s action against one of the world’s most notorious criminal organizations,” said OFAC Director Adam Szubin.

Interpol has issued provisional arrest warrants or “red notices” for both Shakeel and Memon.

Dawood was named as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in October 2003, and in June 2006, he was named as a drug trafficker.

Also in June 2006, the Dawood group was named as a Significant Foreign Narcotics Trafficker.

Drug trafficking activities of D Company include the smuggling of heroin and hashish from Afghanistan and Thailand to the United States, Western Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa, the department said.

As a result of today’s action, US persons are prohibited from conducting financial or commercial transactions with Chhota Shakeel and Memon, and any assets they may have under US jurisdiction are frozen.

Not to long I read something very interesting on a government website.

First of all how likely is it that life as we know it would be altered by zombies? I know this doesn’t sound like it would even be remotely possible. But the CDC said otherwise. As we all know the CDC only puts real legitimate threats to the American public on their website. I recently read a blog on the CDC website on how to prepare for a zombie attack. I seriously had to read the blog three times. I still find myself wondering about the possibility of zombies destroying our way of life. Really the only chance of this happening would be if terrorists release biological weapons into our air. Technologically speaking i guess all things are possible even thou it would take one sick person who has no respect for human life. But would rather obey a fake religion. Anyways i guess we should be prepared for any type of nature disaster and that includes a zombie Apocalypse.

Whatever they are thinking, one thing is for sure, they are hopeless and crazy.

What are inside the minds of these people? What do they want? Why are they willing to sacrifice even their own life just to kill people?

The United States of America is currently observing the possibility that there are terror groups who will try to put down a plane by putting implants of bombs inside their body. This is one of the ways that they think the terror groups will do in the future to avoid being caught when they get checked in airports.

Although this threat is not yet seen or done, they don’t want to remove the possibility that it might happen. They remember one instance when a terrorist succeed in bringing a bomb inside a plane by hiding it in his underwear. Luckily, the bomb failed to explode and it only cause fire which the personnel inside the plane are able to extinguish. What if the terrorist succeed? How many lives will be put at stake?

Considering that experience, those in power don’t want to waste time, and they’re thinking of all possibilities that some unbelievable tactics by those terror groups will happen, such as implanting a bomb inside their body.

As of now, United states is thinking of a way to monitor surgically implanted bombs. They don’t want any casualties to happen, so they are thinking every possibility on every impossibility.

The 9/11 of the 1970's... An event that over shadowed the olympics.

Munich Massacre

September 5th, 1972, a day that will never be forgotten by many Israelis for years to come. 11 Israeli athletes were left dead, one German officer was shot, and only five of the eight terrorist were killed. What happen to lead to this horrific event and what actually happen on this bloody day?

The Olympics were well under way as they entered the second week. The mood was high and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The security itself on the housing grounds was perfectly lessened in order for the athletes and residents to feel less under surveillance and more free.

This absence of security worried Israeli’s head Shmeul Lalkin. With Israel’s new found independence he was worried for his athletes especially since they were in the country which had persecuted them by the hundreds of thousands only 30 years previous. They Olympic committee had placed the Israel athletes in an isolated corner close to that gate leaving them very open for attack. Although the German police assured Israel participants they would have more security, none was ever provided. Even after repeated attempts to move houses they were ultimately refused and forced to stay at the edge of the town.

The ironic part about all of this was that they had pre-planned scenarios of terrorist attacks. They had 26 total and number 21 accurately depicted the Palestinians attack on the Israel athletes. No one listened to the 21st plan though because it would interfere with the laxed atmosphere Germany was trying to promote. In any case security was kept minimal and what happen next would always leave a scar on the Olympic games.

The time was 4:30 in the morning one September 5th, 1972. Everyone was sound asleep after a long day of Olympic games. With the quietly sneaking on to the premises were eight heavily armed Palestinian terrorist. With great agility and strength they hopped the six-foot fence surrounding the village. Although many people saw them it was not unusual for athletes around the camp to hop the fence instead of walking all the way to the entrance. With weapons hidden in their “athletic” bags they made it uninterrupted to the Israeli rooms.

Stolen keys in hand the men enter the two apartments housing the Israel athletes. Although they made it all this way without a commotion when they opened the door they awoke the nearly 300lb wresting referee Yossef Gutfreund. With all of his force he slammed his body against the door in order to allow his fellow teammates escape out the back. All the while he is yelling “Hevre tisalku!” or “guys get out of here!”

The chaos began as wrestling coach Moshe Weinberg attacked the kidnappers as the other athletes tried to escape. With a mighty blow he knocked one terrorist completely unconscious and stabbed another with a fruit knife. He was soon shot to death.

Soon after, the terrorist had rounded up all their hostages and by 9:30 they had announced that they were indeed Palestinian and demanded the release of 200 Arab prisoners.

The Germans were now in a bind. Do they negotiate with these terrorist who later revealed they were part of a break away radical terrorist group called the PLO. The police and the PLO came to plan where a Boeing 727 would take the terrorist and the Israeli’s to Cairo. Everything seemed to be going in the favor of these radical terrorists. What they did not know though was that the German police force was setting up a ambush at the airfield where the plan was going to pick them up.

When the head of Mossad from Israel arrived to finalize the plan he was astonished at the lack of military personnel and lights at the airfield in order to capture these trained terrorist. In his words “the Germans were useless. Useless, all the way.”

As the Palestinian terrorist the majority of the German police abandon their position leaving five snipes to take on eight heavily armed men. At 10:40 the group of terrorist and the hostages landed on the airfield. Realizing it was a trap the terrorist took defensive positions and began a firefight with the German snipers. Bullets began to fly everywhere; the airfield became a small battlefield. The Germans had no idea what to do. An hour into this fight the Germans were finally able to get heavily armored cars on to the airfield but amidst all the chaos they shot some of their own men. The armored cars brought enough fear to the terrorist that one of them reached for a grenade and tossed it into the helicopter filled with the Israeli’s. Igniting the fuel tanks the helicopter exploded killing all inside. The survivors on the other helicopter were quickly shot. The screams from the athletes brought terror to the Germans across the airfield. Eleven Israelis, five Palestinians and one German police officer died during the Munich tragedy.

This event had such an impact on the world who had soon come to realize that terrorism was not confined to just the Middle East. In many ways this was like the 9/11 of the 1970’s. In the months and years following the Israelis special forces carried out operation “wrath of God” in order to get revenge on the Palestine terrorist.

The FBI chases Eric Toth. He is now one of America’s “most wanted” – the most wanted criminals in the United States. The investigators hope that the pressure on the pedophiles and parents are warned about the picture on the wanted list in front of him.

Several readers have BILD.de meantime, however, pointed out that the criminals are not on the FBI’s wanted list sorted by a specific ranking. We thank our readers for pointing this out.

The al-Qaida leader's family will be deported from Pakistan after serving short sentences for visa offences.

After more than a decade on the run with the world’s most wanted man, Osama bin Laden’s widows and daughters have been fined £70 each and sentenced to a short spell in prison.

The three women and two adult daughters are set to leave Pakistan after being held since US navy Seals killed the al-Qaida leader in a night raid on the family compound in the town of Abbottabad last May. The five women, who are being held in a villa in an upmarket neighbourhood of the capital, Islamabad, will be deported after they complete their sentences.

Despite their links to Bin Laden, the women were charged with little more than being in Pakistan without a visa. After the time since their formal arrest in March is taken into account, their sentence will be about two weeks.

Some analysts had predicted far lengthier sentences to prevent the women revealing any more details about how the US’s most wanted man was able to live in Pakistan for so long, moving around between houses and even fathering four children, two born in public hospitals.

The Bin Laden affair has been acutely embarrassing for Pakistan’s security services and has raised questions whether they were complicit in hiding the terror chief or just plain incompetent.

In theory, violating Pakistani immigration laws can carry sentences of up to five years. The family lawyer, Mohammad Amir Khali, said Yemen had already agreed to take back Amal Ahmed Abdel-Fatah al-Sada, at 30 the youngest of Bin Laden’s wives and a Yemeni citizen. She was shot in the leg during the attack on the Bin Laden compound.

However, discussions are still taking place with Saudi Arabia over the fate of the other women, Khali said.

The women are being detained in a heavily guarded, three-storey house in a residential area of Islamabad. Few have access to the family, and legal proceedings took place at the house because of security concerns. The Pakistanis may have calculated that no more harm can come from freeing the women.

Details of their extraordinary story have already been widely leaked, with sections of Sada’s police testimony appearing in the Pakistani press.

According to her version of events, Bin Laden’s wives were forced to leave their husband immediately after the attacks of 11 September 2001.

Sada hid in the sprawling coastal city of Karachi, which is thought to host many wanted figures, including senior members of the Taliban. She said she returned to her husband’s side just a year later, moving between various towns within the “settled areas” of Pakistan, rather than in the tribal belt which is scarcely controlled by the government.

The family eventually settled into the house in Abbottabad which, although large, was crowded with Bin Laden’s wives, eight children and five grandchildren.

According to an independent investigation into the affair by a retired Pakistani brigadier who was given access to interrogation transcripts, Sada, the youngest wife, loathed Khairiah Saber, the oldest, who had managed to travel with her husband after being freed from a decade of detention in Iran.

Sada told Pakistani interrogators she believed the older woman had deliberately betrayed their husband to the US.

United States immediately sent five members of Al Qaeda suspects to military courts. One of them is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the September 11 attacks the brain, the U.S. Defense Department announced on Wednesday (04/04/2012).

In addition to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the four other Guantanamo prisoners will be tried is Waleed bin Attash, Ramzi Binalshibh, Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, and Mustafa Ahmad al-Hawsawi. They will be tried together.

In a statement, the Pentagon said the five were “punishable by death” if proven planning attacks in New York (WTC twin towers), Washington (Pentagon), and Pennsylvania. Simultaneous attacks on 11 September 2001 that killed 2976 people.

They were charged with “terrorism, aircraft piracy, conspiracy, murder in violation of the laws of war, attacking civilians, attacking civilian objects, intentionally meluka physically, and violate the laws of war by destruction of property.”

On June 2011, in the era of President George W Bush, the fifth person to be tried. However, the trial was postponed because there is a dispute about whether they will be tried in military courts or civilian.

When President Barack Obama’s reign, he urged the closure of Guantanamo prison and tried to propose major terrorism suspects to the civil courts.

However, Obama canceled his wish about Guantanamo because it turns out looking for a place to imprison and prosecute suspected Al Qaeda is not an easy thing.

Previously, the Pentagon says Khalid Sheikh Mohammed claimed responsibility for the September 11 attacks. In examining it, he intends to plead guilty and were martyred.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was captured in Pakistan in 2003 and imprisoned at Guantanamo since 2003. U.S. authorities alleged he was involved in a series of terrorist activities.

U.S. offers $ 10 million for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Hafiz Mohammed Saeed, a Pakistani accused of plotting terrorist attacks in 2008 in Mumbai that killed 166 people.

Hafiz Saeed, seen here in April 2011 is the head of the banned Islamic group in Pakistan Jamaat-ud-Dawa.

The reward for the 62 years was published on the site of the Rewards program and Justice Department U.S. State.

The announcement described Saeed as a former professor of Arabic and engineering who helped found Jamaat ud Dawa, a radical Muslim organization seeking to impose Islamic rule in India and Pakistan.

The military wing of the group, Lashkar e Tayyiba, which means Army of the Pure, is designated as responsible for the violence that seeks to liberate Muslims in the disputed territory of Kashmir.

After the attacks of September 11 in the U.S., Lashar e Tayyiba began operating out of Kashmir. Is suspected to have been several high-profile attacks in India in recent years.

U.S. labeled it “an international terrorist organization” in December 2001. Under pressure from Washington, Pakistan banned the group in 2002 but continues to operate freely.

In November 2008, terrorists raided several locations across Mumbai, killing and taking hostages. Six Americans were killed during the massacre.

In a rare intervention in 2010, Saeed told The Independent that Lashkar e Tayyiba was not involved in the attacks, despite substantial evidence says otherwise.

The amount offered by Saeed is one of the largest United States provided for, along with the reward for Taliban leader Mullah Omar.

The reward program, one of the most valuable U.S. government in combating terrorism, includes $ 100 million in rewards for the capture of 70 suspected terrorists. The leader of Al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has the highest reward, with 25 million dollars.

The Indian government, which held Tuesday’s announcement of the award against Saeed, issued a joint statement with Interpol, in relation to Saeed’s alleged involvement in the attacks in Mumbai.

“(The announcement) reflects the commitment of India and the United States to bring perpetrators of Mumbai terror attacks to justice and continue their efforts to combat terrorism,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs in a statement.

“It also sends a strong signal to (Lashkar e Tayyiba) and its members and employers that the international community remains united in fighting terrorism,” he said.
