What about the fate of Earth in the event of a gradual warming as the Sun towards the end of his life as a white dwarf star?

Climate change and global warming is happening lately become one of the very significant effect in changing the condition of the Earth for decades and centuries ahead. However, what about the fate of Earth in the event of a gradual warming as the Sun towards the end of his life as a white dwarf star? Will the Earth survive, or whether this period will be the end of life of Earth?

Red Giant star. Artist’s impression. source: Universetoday

Billions of years from now, the Sun will expand into a red giant star. At that time, it will expand and swallow the Earth’s orbit. Will the Earth be swallowed by the Sun as Venus and Mercury? This question has been a long discussion among astronomers. Will life on Earth remains there when the sun into the White dwarfs?

Based on calculations performed K.-P. Schr ¨ oder and Robert Connon Smith, when the Sun becomes a red giant star, has exceeded even the equator of Mars distance. Thus, the entire planet in the Solar System will be swallowed by it. There comes a time when an increase in solar flux also increases the average temperature on Earth to a level that does not allow the biological mechanisms and other mechanisms of resistance to these conditions.

When the Sun enters the final stages of the evolution of life, he will experience a loss of mass through stellar winds. And when the sun grows (enlarges in size), it will lose mass so that the planets move around it spiral out. Again the question is how the Earth? Will the Sun is being expanded to take over the planets are moving spiral, or even Venus and Earth would escape from his clutches?

Knights of old, wartime bombing, Nuclear attack and UFO's - this song has it all, but what does it all mean?

THE STORY IN THE SONG NEIL YOUNG AFTER THE GOLDRUSH 1970

The title song to a pivotal album of the 70’s, and one of the strangest and most unusual of all musical recordings. The song takes on everything from medieval knights in armour to UFO’s saving a lucky chosen group of humans from the apocalypse.

The song is best seen in covering three different periods of time and perception that start to overlap in the mind of the singer. The opening verse is clearly set in a hazily remembered past, with an almost intentionally clichéd view of a chivalrous pageant, and a sense of a children’s story, barely remembered. The knights are in some way associated with a queen, (Genevieve?) and an archer damages a tree (possibly a reference to Robin Hood taking part in an archery contest). There is a sense of someone ageing, reflecting on images from his youthful reading, or random thoughts in the mind of someone getting himself rather high.

The verse adds a fanfare with the image of the trumpets pointing upwards, as though the Sun itself was being worshipped, rather than the fanfare just taking place on a bright sunny day. The closing lines depict nature being destroyed by man in the 1970’s – a prophetic vision given that the song was issued just as the decade was commencing. Young has changed this to the 80’s, 90’s and Noughties in later releases and performances, keeping the line as contemporary as possible.

The second verse moves to a more realistic depiction of soldiering and violence. The narrator is in the wreckage of a bombed out building. It seems to be the position he has been given orders to maintain, and he is hoping that his replacement will arrive soon to relieve him, but there seems to be some kind of delay. It is night. He can see the Moon, but then he can suddenly see the Sun instead. It seems to be the fire-flash of a large explosion, most likely a nuclear one. The band he imagines himself hearing might be a rock band or a religious one playing a requiem to dying humanity. The singer reflects on a friend’s words that he had refused to believe but now fears might be coming true. This might well be a prediction someone gave him of the imminent end of the World, which he had dismissed as unrealistic or just rumour mongering. Now he is seeing it come true.

The final chapter depicts an unusual Judgement Day, in which the spaceships land, arriving as fantastically as the medieval knights of the earlier vision. There are many distressed children, and a select group of humans are given a new start with the aliens. The ships fly off sunwards. We are told that all of this is a dream.

The Sun is a recurring theme, the narrator sees all this as though not a part of it. He has no connection to the stories of his childhood. He sees no romance or chivalry in his burnt out basement, and he seems to be a witness to the extra-terrestrial gods aiding an evacuation rather than anyone invited to go.

The song has become something of an anthem for the Space aliens as God cults that still abound. Erich Von Daniken’s claims that ancient monuments such as the pyramids of Egypt were built by aliens and a diet of UFO related science fiction has led some to believe that aliens will arrive like angels to save them from the nuclear holocaust the rest of us will be left to suffer. The song captures some of that mood, with the singer not being one of the fortunate (?) chosen few.

An odd but beguiling song, with even its title unexplained or even referenced in the lyrics. The Klondike gold rushes left many people poor and bereft, and bitterly disillusioned. Humanity’s race will ultimately end in death for most, with few people feeling satisfied with what they gained in life. For many, the rush for capital is akin to the hysteria of the gold rush, with all its greed and madness and violence, but few of its rewards.

A haunting song that creeps up on you and stays in your head for a long time after a hearing. Cover versions abound, with cover artists including Prelude, Linda Rondstadt, Radiohead and Dolly Parton.

Phone tapping scandal and bribery police conducted tabloid News of the World belongs to Rupert Murdoch began to spread. A journalist from The Sun was arrested on charges of bribing the police.

As quoted by Reuters, police arrested a man aged 48 years, police-related bribery. Two sources told Reuters called if the man who held that Sun reporter, Jamie Pyatt.

The biggest newspaper in the UK it is a ‘brother’ from the News of the World. As a result of the incident police wiretapping and bribery, the News of the World 168-year-old that was closed last July.

Catching The Sun reporter is clearly negative impact on News Corp’s Murdoch. Because so far News Corp. has always denied the accusations by saying that the act of wiretapping and bribery as an illegal act in News Corp..

The scandal has shaken not only the parent Murdoch-owned media company, News Corp., but also rocked a number of top British police officials, journalists, and politicians. In fact, British Prime Minister, David Cameron, to shorten the tour in Africa to hold a special session in parliament today to discuss the scandal.

As is known, David Cameron has previously hired former editor of News of the World as a media consultant.

In addition, the police spokesman said that the number of people who become the target intercepts close to 5,800 people.

After a long debate, in April, News Corp. has admitted the practice was illegal in journalistic work News of the World. But the accusation was only addressed to one journalist, who had been arrested the police.

Did you know there is a MASSIVE water cannon in space? Read to find out more!

This is the star that acts as a giant water cannon.
Every second it sends out one hundred million times more water than is found throughout the Amazon River.

80 times a bullet.

When the researchers then studied the star, they discovered that huge amounts of water poured out of its north and south pole.

Equivalent to the amount that extends one hundred million times the amount of water Amazon River is composed of, said Lars Kristensen to National Geographic.

And the speed at which the water escapes into space is huge:

- We’re talking about speeds reaching 200 000 kilometers per hour, which is 80 times faster than bullets from a machine gun, said Kristensen.

The Star is Young

Researchers at a Dutch university is behind the discovery of the star, located in the northern part of the constellation Perseus. The star is young – only a few hundred thousand years old.

According to the British newspaper The Sun, the porn site Babestation is watched on Twitter by the official account of the American President Barack Obama, @BarackObama.

The account was spotted by a user of the social network and that’s how the information was revealed in press.

“I don’t know if it we talk about Barack Obama himself that was watching the porn movies or a member of his White House staff clicked Follow, but it’s a little bit strange.” declared the one that made the discovery.

The site Babestation is a soft porn channel and presents naked women that make videochat. The girls can also receive calls from their viewers. Last year was discovered that the football player Wayne Rooney was a fan of this site too.

George Michael had to resort to tweeting yesterday, to confirm rumours of his break-up with long time love Kenny Goss were untrue.

The Sun had reported that Mr Michael’s partner of 15 years had finally had enough of the singer’s troubled lifestyle and had walked out.

George Michael only found out when watching UK TV show The Wright Stuff, who were discussing the break-up and asked someone to tweet in to the programme to inform them that, as usual, the Sun had printed absolute rubbish. He later called the show personally to confirm in person that the story was untrue.

He told the show “It is complete b******t about myself and Kenny breaking up. Don’t believe this story. We’ve had our problems, but he’s never had a problem with my lifestyle. I love Kenny very much.”

It seems Mr Michael has a few enemies around in Pop Park. The source is reported to have said ”The writing has been on the wall for some time. There are only so many second chances Kenny was prepared to give. He’s been loyal to George from day one, but that hasn’t always been reciprocated.” He went on to talk about George Michael’s convictions and the singers continuing problems with drugs. The now discredited source ended by saying “It’s really sad, but hopefully this could be the wake-up call George needs.”

What’s really sad is that people make up ridiculous headlines to sell papers not caring about the lives they wreak havoc upon. Papers printing this rubbish without facts should have penalties to pay. The reader has paid money to read rubbish and the source had been paid money to tell lies. I think all the readers of that particular newspaper should demand a refund. I suspect they’d think again before printing another outrageous headline.

Tips on staying cool this summer.

With temperatures soring, staying cool is a must this summer. Whether you believe in global warming, climate change, both or neither, one fact is undeinable – it is going to be hot. In this article, i will give you the tips to help you stay cool. This simple tips will help you take care of your health.

Stay hydrated. When it is warmer, we sweat more, losing water. We are recommed to drink 2 litres/8 glasses of water a day. Not many people know this but alchol and coke cola make us dehydrate faster. So it is not recommeded to drink thoses during the day. If you are exercising, drink more to replace the fluids you lose. Also, try to keep in cold air in your house. Open the windows at night to let the cool air in and DO NOT open the windows during the day. It is a common mistake but it will let the cool air out and let the hot air in

Stay protected. Always use suncream even in cloudy weather as the sun still acts on you without you knowing. Also, wearing black clothes is a bad idea as black attracts heat. The best clothes to wear are shiny, light colours. Your pets also feel the heat. Look on the internet or ask a vet for the best advice. Do not leave your pet outside all day and also do not leave them in a car.

Stay out of the sun if you can. The peak hours when the sun is it`s hottest is 11 am to 1 pm. Only go out in these hours if it is nessecery. Try and wear a hat or cap if you go out to protect your head. I know it may look like a beutiful day and you will hate being stuck in the house but these tips will help you. Try not to spend to long in the sun and find shade wherever you can.

So remeber, stay hydrated, stay protected, stay out of the sun, stay safe. The sun is dangerous and these tips will help you survive the hot summers coming.

In August 1835 citizens in New York City received extraordinary news. According to the New York Sun, the British astronomer Sir John Herschel had found proof of life on the moon.

Using an enormously powerful telescope able to magnify objects 42,000 times, Sir John had distinguished a wide range of flora and fauna with astonishing clarity. In just one area of the moon, the newspaper disclosed, he had observed 38 species of forest trees, twice that number of other plants, and different creatures, including small reindeer like animals, elks, moose, bears with horns, and beavers with no tails and only two feet.

Each issue of the newspaper brought new revelations, reported by journalist Richard Adam Locke and based on Sir John’s accounts in the highly respected Edinburgh Journal of Science. Day after day Locke told astonished readers of lunar amethysts more than 60 feet high, immense fields of poppies, a great temple made of sapphire, and herds of buffalo with fleshy appendages over their eyes that protected them from the damaging extremes of light and darkness.

Even more intriguing was the discovery of lunar inhabitants that were semi human in form: they stood four feet tall, were covered with glossy, copper-colored hair and, from the expression on their yellowish faces, were clearly intelligent. They also had wings on their backs. They talked in an animated fashion, bathed in lakes, and flew.

Over the Moon

The articles created a sensation. The circulation of the Sun-which hitherto had been suffering a dwindling readership-soared, giving it the largest sales of any New York daily of the time. The reports were reprinted in other newspapers throughout the United States and Europe. Printed in pamphlet form, an edition of 60,000 copies quickly sold out.

But what was so extraordinary about this journalistic coup was that few of the words in Locke’s articles were true.

In a bid to boost the declining circulation of the Sun, Locke had fabricated the entire story. It was true that Herschel’s newly constructed Cape Town observatory contained a remarkably powerful telescope. Locke, however, had made it 10 times larger and thousands of times more powerful than it actually was. And although there had in fact been an Edinburgh Journal of Science, it had ceased publication two years earlier. Everything else was pure invention-but well written and with just the right amount of scientific detail to make it convincing.

Not everyone was taken in, however, and American astronomers were highly skeptical. One day a delegation of scientists from Yale University appeared unannounced in the newspaper offices and demanded to see the original reports.

With all the charm he could muster, Locke explained that the reports, unfortunately, were at the printer’s. The suspicious scientists persisted until Locke was forced to give them the printer’s name and address. The group started off at once.

But Locke managed to arrive before they did. He persuaded the printer to tell the scientists when they arrived, that the material had been sent elsewhere. It was the start of a wild-goose chase as Locke sent the scientists from one printer to another, while he took shortcuts through lanes and alleys to tell his printer friends where they should direct the scientists next.

The Final Truth

It may seem amazing today that such a hoax could ever succeed. But in a world without mass communications, without airplanes or telephones or television, it took many weeks for the truth to emerge. It was some two or three months before Sir John Herschel even learned of his “remarkable discoveries” and was able to deny them. Once exposed, Richard Locke was forced to resign from the Sun in disgrace.

Although New Yorkers were soon reading different stories in their newspapers, probably few easily forgot that fabulous world in the sky.

She is the most successful female artist of our time and has touched millions of people with her music and words. Yet for years the British press have continually slated her and hampered her chances of finding the success here that she once had. Why?

I am an unashamed Mariah Carey fan. I have been a fan of hers since 1993, and her music resonates with me more than any other artist. Some of her songs have helped me through difficult times and my ultimate wish in life is to see her perform live one day. I own every single song she has ever made, and I even follow her on Twitter. This may be hard to believe, but I am actually British.

Mariah is undoubtedly more popular in the USA than she is in Britain; reviews of her albums are justified over there (good or bad) and whether she is pumping out a synthesiser-enhanced club track or belting out a ballad, she is still adored. The press in Britain however, seem to have a vendetta against the most successful female artist of our time. Whatever she does is ‘diva-ish’ and her modern records are ‘dry’, ‘boring’ or ‘tame’ when in truth the deluded journalists at The Sun probably listened to the first few seconds of each track and threw together a ‘review’ filled with their trademark tabloid dross.

The sad thing is, their readers will believe it, and that is why Mariah’s popularity in Britain will never reach the heights of the mid-90’s.

Of course, I can’t see it bothering Mariah. Depite attempts by the press to derail her, put her down or upset her, she has a long and successful career, millions in the bank, fans who adore her no matter what she does and a hot husband. I can see why journalists at The Sun are a little bitter. One comment in their latest review (which I came across through a Mariah fansite) said that Mariah’s latest album (Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel) is ‘dire’ compared to ‘refreshing’ new artists such as Tinchy Stryder ‘taking music in exciting new directions’. If an ‘exciting’ direction for The Sun is the gutter, then fair enough.

American readers, have you heard of Tinchy Stryder? No, I didn’t think so.

Will Tinchy Stryder still be around in 20 years? No. 10 years even? No.

Mariah continues to blow everyone else out of the water in the eyes of her fans and that is all that matters. The sad thing is, the reputation she has in Britain that has been fabricated by the tabloids is the reason why she hasn’t toured over here since 2002, and British fans like me have not had the chance to see her yet.

I keep my fingers crossed in the hope my favourite artist will announce a few dates over here, but I will not be suprised if she snubs Britain for nations that do not have an unjustified vendetta against her. It’s a shame for British Mariah fans, but if I were in her shoes I would do the same.

Comparing the different techniques used by broadsheet and tabloid newspapers in writing reports and articles.

A broadsheet is a newspaper that is printed in a large format and is associated with serious journalism as apposed to the smaller format, tabloids. A tabloid is smaller than the broadsheet, and is more popular. It uses a simple style, many photographs and sometimes uses sensationalism and emphasis in the stories. Some examples of newspapers that have a broadsheet format are: The Independent, The Telegraph and the Times. Some examples of newspapers that have a tabloid format are: The Mirror, The Sun and The Daily Star. People who read broadsheets tend to be higher class people and more educated, where as people who read tabloids tend to be of a lower class and read the newspaper for a bit of gossip.

In this paragraph I am going to explain the style the Sun uses: sensationalism (or hyperbole). This is where the media emphasises parts of the article to make it more dramatic and interesting. An example of this is “Adam Ant freed on gun rampage” They have used this news heading to catch the readers attention. Another couple of examples of sensationalism are “Threatening pub punters with a gun” and “Temporarily insane”. The sun also uses mockery like a “fallen pop star” because it seems odd for a popstar to act like this.

In this paragraph I am going to explain the style the Daily Telegraph uses. The Daily Telegraph has a style that is quite formal and factual. An example of how I know this is “Avoided Jail yesterday after a judge said he was mentally ill”. They have written in this style because they know that their readers want the truth and they want facts, unlike the readers of the Sun. Another couple of examples to show the laid backness of the Daily Telegraph are “Threatened customer with an imitation pistol” and “voluntarily having psychiatric treatment”.

Tabloids and broadsheets also have different styles on the political battle of the Article of “Bush and Kerry”. The tabloid paper “The Mirror” is quite a biased paper towards Kerry and is in favour of him becoming the next President of the Unites States of America. The mirror shows a lot of unique treatment between George. W. Bush and John F. Kerry. I know that the Mirror mocks Bush because it say in the text “Dabya” which is mocking how the people from Texas say his name as Bush is from Texas. Also the mirror says : “glittering military career”. This is commentating on Bushes poor military past. They are using sarcasm to tell the reader that Bush didn’t do his country’s duty. Even at the very start of the article the headline says “Hero is Zero”. This is being biased to one of the candidates and is putting the other down. Whereas the Times is quite a neutral paper, it is unbiased to the candidates and comments on the good points and bad points of both George W. Bush and John F. Kerry. However as the papers article progresses it slightly tilts in favour of Kerry winning. I know this because the Times says that Kerry is “The real deal” This show that the Times prefers Kerry to Bush.

The language and detail between the Mirror and the Times is massively different, even though both articles compare the military background of these two candidates as a factor whether they are suitable to be president, but the Mirror uses a rhyme “Hero is Zero” to show that contempt to Bush, and their praise towards Kerry. Also the mirror is less formal and is sort of sarcastic towards George W. Bush. However the times uses a metaphor as a headline “Let battle commence” to show the battle between candidates. The Times use a formal language to address the reader and is quite evenly commented on Kerry and Bush. The Times uses a lot of detail whereas in the Mirrors article pictures are more prevalent.

In conclusion after much analysing of the tabloids and broadsheets and both articles and reports, I have found that both use many different techniques to put their message across to cover the same story. Therefore I conclude that the articles and reports analysed are completely different in language, style and detail. The different papers, tabloid and broadsheet, meet the requirements of the different social classes that make up the population and differ quite clearly in their style.
