This article addresses forensic science and how it applies to criminal investigations. We specifically study the types of tests that are used for drug identification. Together we will also explore both screening tests and confirmation tests that are conducted by forensic toxicologists.

Modern day humans are exposed to many environmental toxins. The sources of these chemicals range from by products of industrial production, agricultural chemicals such as pesticides and various other synthesized chemicals that are found in the products we use and the foods that we consume. Some other sources of these toxins include substances such as narcotics, cigarettes and other drugs which are abused my many which again may lead to negative effects on child development .An extreme example is Fetal Alcohol syndrome which can result in underdeveloped brains, abnormalities in motor movement and other psychological damage. Research has shown that these toxins have negative effects on child development across the world.
