Now, I’m going to put everything together and relate the unconscious messages to your life story.

You will be able to immediately translate the meaning of dreams thanks to the scientific method of dream interpretation. This is how you’ll find psychotherapy for all mental illnesses and acquire sound mental health that lasts for life.

I will give you a dream translation lesson.

For example, you dreamt that:

‘You are walking in the street. Then, you arrive home. You go to the kitchen and you notice that your neighbor’s cat is there. You open the refrigerator and you find a big crab.’

You should read the dream story once after writing down your dream, and then analyze each dream image separately. You have to analyze each dream image as if you could take a picture of each image that appears in the dream. Each image contains an important message.

All dream images contain important messages sent by your natural therapist. These messages protect you from the absurdity you have inherited into your anti-conscience, which is the wild side of your conscience that didn’t evolve like your human side.

Your psychotherapy depends on your obedience to the wise guidance you receive in the dream messages. Your natural doctor is trying to preserve your mental health, or trying to cure a mental illness you have already acquired.

Now, I will translate your dream in order to show you how the unconscious psychotherapy works into practice.

I must indispensably learn a few details about you and your life in order to precisely translate the meaning of this dream.

You are a 50-years-old man. You are married and you have two children. You are having problems with your colleagues because you were transferred to another office. Your new colleagues make fun of you, treating you as if you were silly and inferior. You believe that they are jealous, but you don’t know how to handle this situation.

Now, I will analyze your dream. You should follow my example and separate the sentences of each dream when you’ll translate your dreams alone, analyzing each sentence the same way I do. Each sentence reflects a dream image. The dream images are the precious unconscious words.

You are walking in the street.

When you walk in dreams this means that you are discovering many truths.

Since you are in the street, this means that you are in a dangerous position.

Then, you arrive home.

Your house in dreams represents your own psyche.

You go to the kitchen

The kitchen is the place where you prepare your food. The food you prepare in dreams feeds your psyche; it doesn’t feed your body.

The kitchen reflects the way that you feed your psyche, and it reflects your actions. The kitchen represents the way you behave, and the way you answer to all life challenges.

…and you notice that your neighbor’s cat is there.

Other people in dreams represent parts of your own personality. Your neighbor is a certain part of your personality, which can be positive or negative. We will understand which part of your personality this neighbor represents once you define for me how you characterize him.

You believe that he is a nice person who never causes problems, and always has a good mood.

Therefore, this neighbor represents a positive part of your personality.

The cat in dreams indicates that you have to smarten up because you are not seeing something obvious than even a child could perceive.

You open the refrigerator

The refrigerator is very cold. It represents your insensitivity.

…and you find a big crab.

The crab is the worst dream symbol. It represents a certain truth that you cannot accept. You must be prepared in order to accept seeing the truth as it is because it is very unpleasant.

The truth you don’t want to accept is usually related to past traumas that marked your life, and negatively influenced your behavior.

Now, I will put everything together and relate the unconscious messages to your life story.

You are walking in the street.

You are in a dangerous situation because your colleagues are attacking you. This dream is about the way that you are trying to discover solutions to this problem.

Then, you arrive home.

The unconscious mind is showing you the content of your psyche, so that you may understand your behavior. After analyzing your own behavior, you will understand how to solve your problem at the office.

You go to the kitchen

The unconscious mind is analyzing the way you are dealing with your colleague’s aggression at the office. You must understand how you behave, and the meaning of your actions.

…and you notice that your neighbor’s cat is there.

Since your neighbor is a positive part of your personality that never causes problems and always has a good mood, this means that his cat is showing you that there is something obvious that you are not seeing, which is related to the fact that your personality has a positive part, which has a positive behavior.

You are disregarding this positive component of your personality. You are forgetting to be the nice person you always are, because your colleagues are attacking you.

You must smarten up and understand that the only way to successfully handle this situation is based on your capacity to be a calm and reasonable person. You must stop behaving like a boy who is feeling offended.

Instead of becoming angry and upset with the way that your colleagues are treating you, you should lead with this matter the same way you would lead with any other matter that belongs to your daily life. In other words, you should always keep your good mood (like your neighbor).

Instead of feeling offended with the negative behavior of your colleagues, you should try to understand why they are acting this way.

They are treating you as if you were inferior because they don’t want to have a new boss. They don’t like the idea of sharing their privileges with you. They are jealous because you are very intelligent and you have a better position in the office.

Even a child would understand why they are not friendly.

You open the refrigerator

You cannot accept your colleague’s self-defensive behavior because you are insensitive. You become angry with them because you are not showing any compassion. You cannot understand how they feel.

How would you feel if someone else would start working at your office? Would you like to have a new colleague, who has a better position than you?

Put yourself in their place. Show them compassion and understanding.

…and you find a big crab.

However, you cannot admit that you are merely a human being like everybody else. You cannot accept being offended. You are too proud of yourself.

I have to analyze your past in order to understand why you have this negative reaction. Perhaps you were humiliated in the past, or you have a complex that distorts your behavior. Your anti-conscience takes advantage of your traumatic experiences, making you show abnormal or immature behavior in various circumstances.

You become too angry when someone disrespects you, without understanding that they act this way because there are various reasons that provoke this reaction. You don’t want to understand anything.

Now, what could you conclude thanks to the unconscious guidance?

You probably understood that you have to show compassion to your colleagues instead of becoming angry with them.

Stop feeling proud of yourself, and stop thinking about your past traumas. Remember your own faults when you were younger and you had a negative behavior with the people you disliked.

Forgive your colleagues because they are making a big mistake for treating you this way. They don’t know what to do.

Let them disrespect you, without feeling offended. Simply show understanding, without causing problems.

In a while they will stop treating you as if you were inferior and silly because they will understand that no matter how much they may attack you, you will never lose your good mood (like your neighbor).

The unconscious mind helps you show wise behavior in all circumstances. The unconscious guidance helps you win all battles thanks to your wisdom. This is how you will prevent all mental disorders and misfortunes, or you will get rid of a mental illness that is torturing you.

Christina Sponias continued Carl Jung’s research into the human psyche, discovering the cure for all mental illnesses, and simplifying the scientific method of dream interpretation that teaches you how to accurately translate the meaning of your dreams, so that you can find health, wisdom and happiness.

Nostradamus – The Final Prediction?

Image via Wikipedia

We all know of Nostradamus and his prediction. Recently French scholar unearthed what they believed to be his final prediction. After months of translation and checking they have released it to the World – it does not make happy reading.

It is believed to be a transcript of a conversation between Nostradamus and the King captured by the royal scribe Ron De Vous.

It goes as follows

King – “Nostradamus, so glad you could attend”

Nostradamus – “ Sire it was a surprise to receive your summons”

King – “Really? I thought you could see into the future?”

Nostradamus – “Err er your Majesty moves outside of the realm of mortal men”

King – “ convenient “

Nostradamus – “ Does sire require a reading?”

King – “Actually Nosty, It is you this concerns”

Nostradamus – “Oh – I am honoured by your Majesty’s concern”

King – “ Yes, it is these predictions”

Nostradamus – “Of course, the fate of man is in the balance sire – which one in particular?”

Nostradamus – “ Err er, sire such pressure”

King – “Guards” Take him away”

Nostradamus – “No wait – I am seeing something. The King will be presented with a child very soon”

King – “Am I going to be a father?”

Nostradamus – “Yes sir”

King – “That is amazing Nostradamus, I will tell the Queen… The Queen whom as we speak is in her chambers giving birth to my child – Guards, take him away”

Nostradamus – “ No wait, you are going to meet a tall dark stranger and you are going to come in to some money”

King – “Bye Nostradamus – you should have seen this coming – put him the dungeon, guards”

Is this really the final prediction of Nostradamus?

Machines are doing the job of humans, but they are not doing them well.

Being a translator or interpreter used to be a valued profession. The people doing this job were well paid and respected. That is no longer the case for many languages.

French, German, Italian and Spanish were among the most popular languages for translators but nowadays it seems to be any of the Arab languages and Japanese that are most sought after.

The decline is not only due to companies doing less business with Germany, France, Spain and Italy, but also to the online translators available.

There are many versions of these mechanical translators, from free ones to supposedly “better” ones you pay for. While French, German, Italian and Spanish use more or less the same alphabet as English, Arab and Japanese don’t. This leads people to believe they can read the translated work in European languages and get an idea if it is correct or not.

They are, however, wrong. The only way to know if a translation is correct is to fully understand the language, and if that is the case – you do not need a machine to translate.

One example of this is the Italian word “educazione”. A person who does not speak Italian will automatically think this means education, and if this is what they want to say, will see this as correct. In Italy this is used to refer to “good manners”, and while it will probably make sense in the sentence, it will not give the meaning that was intended. The phrase, “This child needs to go to school to learn things”, will come out as, “this child needs to learn good manners”. These are two completely different meanings and in the business world this type of error often leads to serious mistakes.

A professional translator used to earn around $50 a page, but now they struggle to get $0.50.

Technically speaking to get a good translation should be done by a person who has the translated language as their first language. This means a document in English that needs translated into Spanish, should be done by a Spanish person, and vice versa.

Apart from the mechanical translators around today, there are also many people, from countries all round the world, who put themselves forward as experts for just about every language under the sun.

Many companies pay very low prices for translations, only to realize there is a problem when they start using them. They then ask a professional to “edit or proofread” these documents. The problem is that in 100% of the cases this is not possible. The document has become something that is totally unreadable and makes no sense. The only way to get it right is to translate from scratch, but the company has already paid one person for this work and they are reluctant to pay again.

The job of professional translator of European languages is slowly falling into a deep pit and may be beyond saving.

Read about Google's free translation tool which has a text to speech feature.

Since the tower of Babel foreign countries have not been able to understand each other. Sure many people in the world can speak many different languages but the average person is limited to their native language. There have been many strides made in translation tools but a free online product called “Google Translate” (See http://translate.google.com/#) has caught my attention. Here is some of what it can do.

(1) Type in some sentences and Google Translate will automatically detect which language you are typing in and it will note it on the page!

(2) You can then translate what you have written into a host of other foreign languages from Afrikaans to Yiddish!

(3) Click the “Listen” button on the right on you will actually hear the translated production in that foreign language! I must admit that the voice sounds much more real than similar text to voice programs that I have tried and the Spanish accent sounds authentic! Even if you do not want to translate something you can play around with this text to voice feature and startle people, propose to someone, you name it.

Apart from typing something in the box to translate you can also copy and paste into the box. They can translate whole articles or web pages! Just paste it into the translation box and click translate and you will see your page in another language! (I am almost sure that I did not have to click “Translate” the first time. I think the translation came up without a pause). The photo below is a Spanish version of the article you are reading.

Of course the translation is not always perfect as perhaps no computer programming can always accurately convey the all the shades of meaning and the intricacies of language. For instance, it translated the English word “sounds” which I used as a verb as “sonidos” which is a noun in Spanish. But all in all it is amazingly accurate for a machine translation and a free one at that! Regardless of any pitfalls, the final translated product can be readily understood. Try it and tell me what you think. It is free!

Fortunately, we have pronouns to help us. Just use “this”, “that” and “that over there” instead of the name of the item. I assume that you will remember to point at the item or the salesperson would be in a blurr.

Kore = this

Sore = that

Are = that over there

Other than those above, there are also the following words which are more polite and I feel it would be more appropriate to use them to show your respect especially when you are talking to people who are older than you or those of higher class.

Kochira = this

Sochira = that

Achira = that over there

Remember our previous example? If you don’t here is a reminder:

A: Kochira wa ikura desu ka? (How much is this?)

B: ni juu doru desu. (Twenty dollars.)

Kochira and kore are used to refer to things that are close to you.

Sochira and sore are used when the things referred are closer to the person that you are talking with.

Achira and Are are used to refer to things which are far from both you and the person you are having your conversation with.

A: Kore wa ikura desu ka? (How much is this?)

B: Sore desu ka? (Is it that?) [sometimes the salesperson may ask you again just to confirm]

B: Sore wa go hyaku rokku juu en desu. (That is five hundred and sixty yen.)

A: Ja, kore o kudasai. (Then, I will take this)

There are many translations to “ja”, it depends on the sentence. In this case, it is similar to the word “then”.

You can also use it in ocassions other than shopping.

A: Sore wa nan desu ka? (What is that?)

B: Kore wa konpyuta desu. (This is a computer).

Notice that the answer uses kore (this) instead of sore (that). This is because the person who asked used sore which indicates that the object being referred to is close to the person whom he or she is having a conversation with. Therefore the proper reply should use kore.

A: Are wa nan desu ka? [What is that over there? or What is that (over there) ?]

B: Are wa kabin desu. [That is a vase.]

In this example, both speakers used are because the object they are referring to is far from both of them.

You can also use these pronouns to introduce someone. For example:

Kochira wa Painter san desu. (This is Mr. Painter)

Notice that I use the more polite form; kochira instead of kore. I used this as a sign of respect to the person I am introducing and also the person I am speaking to.

That is all for this session. Go to my profile page for more lessons.

This is the second part to the three part series that teaches how to make sentences. In this lesson, readers will learn the names of countries in Japanese and also how to tell other people their nationality.

In this lesson, I will show you how to use the previously introduced sentence structure to tell others your nationality.

Remember that the basic sentence structure is:
[Person] wa [name / nationality / occupation] desu.

The first thing you must learn is the names of the countries. This should be fairly easy since most of them are similar to the English names that we are already familiar with.

Amerika = America
Igirisu = United Kingdom (U.K.)
Indo = India
Indoneshia = Indonesia
Oosutoraria = Australia
Kanada = Canada
Kankoku = Korea
Tai = Thailand
Chuugoku = China
Doitsu = Germany
Nihon / Nippon = Japan (This reminds me of Nippon Paint’s commercial)
Furansu = France
Shingapooru = Singapore
Mareeshia = Malaysia
Burunei = Brunei

Note: In Japanese language, we frequently encounter words where there are two vowels, one after another such as Oosutoraria. These are words with long sounds. They are called long sounds because we do not pronounce them the same way as we do in English. For example, in “food” is read as “fud” but in Japanese, the sounds are merely stretched. “Oosutoraria” for example, is not pronounced as “Usutoraria”. Instead, the “o” sound is just stretched slightly longer than usual, “O~sutoraria”.

Now to indicate your nationality, simply add the suffix “-jin” to the end of the country name.
Examples:

Americajin = American
Igirisujin = Englishmen
Indojin = Indian
Indoneshiajin = Indonesian
Oosutorariajin = Australian
Kanadajin = Canadian
Kankokujin = Korean
Taijin = Thai people
Chuugokujin = Chinese
Doitsujin = German
Nihonjin = Japanese
Furansujin = French
Shingaporujin = Singaporean
Mareeshiajin = Malaysian
Buruneijin = Bruneian.

Simple isn’t it. Now you can use them to make sentences such as:
Watashi wa Amerikajin desu. (I am an American)
Watashitachi wa Nihonjin desu. (We are Japanese)

To end this lesson, I will teach you another phrase: “kara kimashita” which translates to “came from”. Instead of telling other people your nationality, you can use it to tell them where you came from.

For example:
Amerika kara kimashita. (I came from America.)
Nihon kara kimashita. (I came from Japan.)

An Introduction to the need for US educational reform and a general solution.

In a nation that spends hundreds of billions of dollars on education, very little education actually seems to be given. The US spends more money per capita on education than any other nation while ranking 10th globally in per capita rating. Despite spending an average of $2,4 31 per child on education(Public Policy Institute), the US seems to be loosing ground in Math, Science, and reading. Peg Tyre reports “There’s been a lot of hand wringing about how the United States is falling behind in science education. Now, it looks as though America may be losing its edge in reading and literacy, too. Six years after No Child Left Behind was signed into law-and U.S. schools began throwing resources into teaching all kinds of kids to read and read well-fourth-graders in the United States are doing no better in reading than they were in 2001, according to the results of an international reading test released this week.”(News Week web exclusive, Nov. 30, 2007).

The US school system is in shambles. A High School diploma is now worth less than the paper it is written on to many US employers, because the diploma does not guarantee basic communications or math skills. Thus while more and more technology classes are offered in our schools, we fail to teach the basics. I am a big proponent of technology and its use in education, but I strongly believe in the absolute value of reading, writing, and arithmetic. The hickory stick may have been removed from the classroom, but these subjects should remain at the core of our education system.

With lagging international benchmarking scores and lagging respect for the educational institutions within the United States, it is essential that we totally revamp our school systems. Many educational beliefs that we hold in the United States are easily disproved in other countries. A couple of these beliefs include; smaller classes make for better education and classrooms must remain silent.

Taiwan was an average class size of 44 students per teacher but ranks among the top five nations in international benchmarking tests. Where 6% of US students reach the Highest marks in science, math, and literature in international testing, 45% percent of Taiwanese students receive the highest marks.

Thus a small class size does not translate into a better education. I do not deny the value of small classrooms in regard to teacher face time, but this advantage alone does little to improve our scores. The overall solution to our educational problems is to redesign our curriculum from the K-12 incorporating reading, writing and grammar into every subject and mathematics into every viable subject. The easiest way to teach is to approach each subject from a historical standpoint and teach concepts in the order and context in which they were learned.

Benjamin Franklin once said “Tell me and I will forget, Teach me and I may remember, involve me and I will learn.” This is the key to a successful education system. A few years back I took a few classes in ESL teaching. In ESL they teach you to spend less time speaking and more time listening to your class speak. A person learns from experience, thus by speaking with peers on a subject they gain

knowledge and understanding of the subject. A large class divided into groups of 5-8 students would receive as much time from the teacher as a class of 23 individuals. The only aspect of education a student should have to complete alone in tests and personal academic papers. I believe that peer based study with teacher oversight is a more efficient system, if organized in the correct manner; this should be the focal point of all reforms.

Free online translators help your translating process.

According to Wikipedia, translation is the interpreting of the meaning of a text and the subsequent production of an equivalent text that communicates the same message in another language. The language to be translated is called the “source language” and the final product of translation is in ¨target language.” Thus, translation focuses on meaning.

Nowadays, with IT development, text translation process has been computerized or automated whether by using computer program as an aid to translation or online free translator tools. The objective of translation by using online translator tool is to produce target text in target language which has the same meaning with source text. However, the online translator tool has artificial mind and it is not perfect language expert.

When translating, we focuses on meaning. We need to consider context, conventions, idioms, and the rules of grammar of the two languages. We should respect the aspects in target language. Translation is not straightforward mechanical process; such a word-for-word correspondence between two languages. That is why when using online translator tool you should check whether source text has been translated into target text accordingly.

When you use online translator tool, there are points to ponder as follows:

The Source Language text uses correct grammar and spelling

There is no idiomatic or “flowery” language

There is no slang words

Text file should be changed into plain text. If you use Windows operating system, copy the text and paste it to the notepad then you will have plain text. Copy the plain text then paste it in the translation box.

You should check spelling, grammar and meaning of Target Language

You can try the following free online translator tools:
