Everyone feels trapped within their family at some point in their life.

I’m trapped inside this family of estrangement; Always arguing, always secretly plotting

Against, for, to, with;

I’m out on this boat of lies

My life is adrift

I grew up different; this much I know

Because no matter where I am, it doesn’t matter where I go

I’m always on watch

I never have time alone

Every second of my day is taped through the eyes of the judgmental

I thought family was supposed to be accepting, with arms wide open

They don’t understand it’s me, not my heart, that’s broken

I wish I could tell them, but alas, it would take years

To pour out everything that’s been haunting me

All of my hurt and fears

“What’s wrong?” The stupidest question of them all

I have to censor what I say, why can’t they?

There must be another way.

They have no idea how something they say

Can impact my day, in each and every way.

Which impacts my mind, my heart, my life

But the damage is done. You can cut the tension with a knife.

Taking on too much rsponsibility before you are really ready.

Phil hides in the bathroom. He keeps his laptop there. Everytime the pressure gets to great, he goes in, locks the door and dives into cyberspace.

Although he is close to forty chronologically, he is really nineteen. He should be dating, enjoying life, doing whatever he pleases instead of having a wife and two kids to look after.

He had problems with Shirley and broke off with her more than once. The last time it looked permanent but somehow she knew which buttons to push.

Soon she was pregnant and he married her. There was the belief that when she went to visit her mother he would take that tranfer to New Guinea and let time and space do what he hadn’t the courage.

He has two children with her now. They are noisy wild children, and when he’s available they are all over him and he’s the affectionate Daddy. But you can see the guilt within him.

He wishes they were never born.

He wishes he never married Shirley.

There are many people trapped as Phil is trapped in a life which is ‘too old’ for them. Looking at birthdays is never useful. People are not merely as old as they feel they are as old as they want to be. Phil would have been perfectly happy being a teenager until he was forty.

All his friends were like him, whether they were married or not, they had this sense of childhood about them and could spend hours comparing Star Trek the Movie to TOS or arguing over the significance of the Archetect in the Matrix.

No one was interested in first words or teeth or the best diapers, and neither was he.

He had never imagined being the breadwinner for a wife and two kids who did nothing. Wasn’t used to being broke all the time, never able to go out. The only time he could partially escape was at work. And he began to live at work. He could be himself.

Other men, men who didn’t have as good a job or nice home would go away and never come back. But Phil had obligtions and knew he had obligations so being happy was no longer important.

Dream interpretation, according to Michael Vigo has bad dreams, subconscious way to draw attention to the situation, what you've been avoiding, but that obviously bothers you.

The bullet hit

A dream in which someone shoots you, refers to multiple discrimination while you were awake. You feel like a victim in any situation.

If you are chased by someone, it indicates a certain state to avoid what you can’t pass. It symbolizes some form of insecurity. A dream in which you’re being chased by an animal, suggests your own repressed anger, which is the same animal. Another possibility is that the primordial urge of running away, or for fear.

If you do not have anybody behind the wheel in a dream, it indicates that you should think according to their own lives as controls. Probably you do not want to take responsibility for own actions.

End of the World

Seeing the end of the world is a signal that you’re stressed. You might feel helpless or vulnerable.

Chilean miners rescue procedure.

How Do We Get The Chilean Miners Out?

                 Research

- 33 miners trapped on August 5
- They are 2,257 feet deep underground.
- Rescuers are sending clothes, medicine and games down the 700- meter hole, which is a shape of a grapefruit, to help keep them physically and mentally fit.
- The trapped miners dug to a water deposite with a bulldozer.
- Miners preserve their helmet lights.
- The air was very hot and stuffy down in the cave.
- Families and friends were worried if the miners were okay.
- More flashlights sent down
- Note from miners that everybody was waiting for says “All 33 of us are fine in the shelter.”
- Predicted that it would take four months to free them.

Hypothesis

My hypothesis is that they will keep senting down food until they can get the miners out. Maybe they will dig a hole andget them out one by one with the help of machines, but i think digging a hole is very riskful andtakes many tries which can lead to other problems. For example it took them about six tries just to dig a 6 inch wide whole to communicate with the trapped miners. Maybe we can think of something more advanced and less riskful way.

Procedure

Step 1- We analyzed all of the information we gathered.
Step 2- We know its deep, so we have to dig in some how.
Step 3- As shown below plan “A” only dug down 599m.
Step 4- As shown below plan “B” dug down 624m.
Step 5- As shown below plan “C” only dug down 422m.
Step 6- A steel capsule will be sent down 622m.
Step 7- Each miner will wear a”bio-harness” designed for astronauts, which will monitor their heart rate, breathing, temperature and oxygen consumption.
Step 8- One by one each miner will get in the capsule and come up to the surface.
Step 9- If any problems encounter the miner can detach himself and lower himself back down.
Step 10- After their rescue, the miners will be taken to a triage station. When they have been cleared by doctors there, they will be reunited with their families. Later, they will be flown to a hospital in the nearby city of Copiapo.
Materials – Machines, Bio-harness suit

Data

-There was 33 miners.
-They were trapped for 69 days.
–On August 22nd, the trapped miners were discovered to be alive.
–33 miners have been trapped in the Chilean mine since August 5Th.
–Miners have been living approximately 2,300 feet underground.
–Miners have lost up to 22 lbs. in weight underground. –The temperature below ground where the miners are trapped is about 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

　Conclusion

My hypothesis correct but also wrong at the same time because they didn’t drill a hole, but they did sent something more advance down a hole that was already there, they just made it a little bit bigger. They got the miners out with the help of NASA that build a steel capsule big enough to fit a miner. The miners were informed to watch their weight so they can fit in the capsule. The miners got trapped in a rock cave for 69 days, and with no help for 17 days. It was a hard time in there but everyone survived.

Wondering if your relationship will stand the test of time? If you notice one or more than signs perhaps it's time to end it?

1. You have stopped talking to each other on a regular basis.

If for some reason your boyfriend/girlfriend stops calling or talking to you and if you hear this phrase more than once a day, “I”m to busy right now, sorry” then it might be a sign the relationship has begun to turn sour. If he/she says they are going to call you later and you wait by the phone and the call never comes maybe he/she doesn’t want to talk to you and you should just dump them.

2. They are talking to or hanging out with other girls or guys.

If you boyfriend/girlfriend is hanging out with other people they could potentially go out with it could be a sign that they are losing interest in you and either you have to step up to get their attention or just dump him/her before they get a chance to cheat on you with your best friend.

3. If they blow you off for no aparrent or good reason.

If you ask them to go with you to your track meet or to the movies and they tell you they can’t and there is no real reason they can’t be there to support you maybe he/she simply doesn’t care enough to be there for you. If this is the case then your relationship isn’t worth being in and you should just end it before they hurt you.

4. If you feel trapped in the relationship.

If at any point you feel like you need to escape from him/her but you can’t get away it’s a definite sign that the relationship is over. For example, you and him are together alone and you are bored out of your mind and you would rather go home and watch T.V than sit there looking at them all day then you should break it off because at this point it’s just not worth it.

5. If they don’t care about your feelings anymore.

Basically if he/she disregards your feelings for any reason it is time to end the relationship because it is only damaging to your self esteem and it is an unhealthy relationship. For example, they make a joke at your expense and it hurts your feelings and he/she says something like, “Oh my god, don’t be so touchy.” That is unacceptable and it is mean and hurtful and you should definitely dump this person at this point.

Overall if your looking at this page and your questioning your relationship at all it’s probably time for your unhealthy relationship to be over. Always remember you are never alone and if you need anyone to talk to ever just contact me. You never are trapped, don’t stay in a relationship if it’s unhealthy.

What do you think orbs are? are they just a trick of the light, or something else?

What does the word orb mean? An orb is any thing round, a ball, the earth.

The orb that is associated with light anomalies is what I am talking about, an orb is said to be a manifestation of a spirit, and will often be found to appear on photographs, and have been cough on film.

Many people have tried to come up with a logical explanation, for these orbs. These are decried as natural orbs, because they are a natural occurrence.

The natural occurrence is said, to occur when people disturb their surrounding area, creating minuter airborne particles, making common house hold dust to float around. The same is created with a photograph, when using a flash the light bounces back of the dust particles at an angle. Small particles of moisture can give this effect to, reflecting of clothing, giving it the apprentice of a coloured orbs. This may seem like a logical explanation, but how do we explain the ones that don’t hold up to a natural occurrence phenomena.

Most haunted locations have an abundance of orbs caught on film and appear on photographs, that people have taken sometimes these are very hard to explain. With the ones cough on film, they appear to move freely and flicker some with great speed and then can change to hardly moving at all, like they are floating in a deliberate direction. The orbs that appear in photos, can often show white balls of light, with many colours in side them, what ever they are many people believe they are spirits floating around freely come to visit us as they are bound to earth trapped in some way from moving on. What do you think?

About t problem of people who call and will not shut up, and several solutions to remedy the problem.

Their mouth runs on and on. Your ear is getting tired of having the phone against it. No matter how hard you try, getting a word inserted into the conversation borders on impossible. The person on the other end of the phone has found fresh ears for long stories and gossip. Racking your brain, you wonder how you allowed yourself to get into this dilemma. Next, you look for a way out.

This type of person rarely realizes what kind of grief is being endured by the listener.

Because of their lack of understanding, these people will never acknowledge that they have taken enough of your time. It will be rare for them to offer to tell you the rest later. Like people with hours of home movies to show, they just assume that you want to hear it as much as they want to tell it. How do you escape?

For close friends, you want to take a gentle exit approach.

Eventually, everyone looks for an affirmation that you are listening. When you hear one, it is your chance to exit. If you are not clear about your desire, you will have to wait for the next one. Having heard the opening, you want to get their attention. Something straightforward is best. Say, “Listen, I’ll have to hear the rest later.” No matter what they say next, you have to say good bye and hang up.

For coworkers who have chosen to call you at home, you can be a little less subtle.

Very few things can be considered as annoying as having a coworker call you at home to relate hours of office gossip or rumors. If you work closely with this person, tell them firmly but nicely that you prefer to leave your work situations at work. More than likely, they will act stunned, but it will get you off of the phone.

If the motor mouth is your boss, you may have a little bigger problem.

The first time this happens, you may have to endure the torture. Since it is the boss, you may view this as necessary to your career advancement. However, if you are paid by the hour and on a salary, this is not really part of your job.

Eventually, the conversation will turn toward topics that are not job related. When it does, you need to strike as soon as you can to end the call. If questions have been posed, tell your boss that you need to go so you can think about what has been asked. Hopefully, this will catch the person a little off guard. Follow immediately with a thank you for the call and hang up.

If the calls continue to be a problem, you will have to find a way to address the issue. The safest way to handle this is to start by answering the phone with a time limit. It works like this: “Thanks for calling, but I can only talk for 5 minutes.” Use a precise time on the clock then to set the boundary. When the time comes, tell the boss that you have to go and hang up.

If the incident is mentioned at work, be as honest as possible with the person. Make them aware that you have obligations to your family and other areas of life. All but the worst of people will accept this.

With almost all other categories of callers, you do not even have to be polite.

Some might argue that being polite is always the right approach. For solicitors who call you and interrupt your life, politeness is not necessary. As soon as you can identify that the call is a solicitor, tell them you are not interested and hang up or just hang up. Do not get sucked into a conversation with these people unless you are just desperate to hear a human voice. In that case, tie them up as long as you want, but just do not buy anything.

Ways to end conversations quickly when you do not want to continue. Most are designed to give you a quick exit while sparing the other person's feelings.

Get-away lines can be as tricky to use as pick-up lines. If they are not delivered naturally and correctly, neither will produce the desired result. With using quick get-away lines, the idea is to escape the person who has tied you up in person or on the phone. It might be to avoid a prolonged exposure to someone that you do not like or that makes you uncomfortable. Normally, people try to avoid those that make it difficult to leave graciously. For those times when fate causes you to get caught in this snare, here are some suggestions to help you get away.

I left a long distance call hanging on the other line to answer your call.

This one may not always be true. It is also one that you must use sparingly because it will start to seem obvious that you did not want to talk to the other person. You also need to have some form of call waiting or multiple lines for this to work. If hurt feelings are what you are trying to avoid, this get-away line will get you off the phone about as quickly as any. A word of caution is in order here. Do not tell the person you will call them back later after this call is over. To avoid saying this, try not to give the person time to say more than good-bye before hanging up the phone.

I need to let you get back to whatever I interrupted.

Here is an interesting get-away line. It implies that you have cornered them for too long when the opposite is true. Frequently, by the time that you use this line, the other person will have probably forgotten that you did not initiate the call or the meeting. This line works well on the phone or in person. If you get a response about how you did not interrupt anything, just continue exiting the conversation with a follow up line. “I have got to go” will usually do the trick. Once you deliver this second line either leave or hang up quickly.

I was on my way someplace when we started talking.

Use this one on the phone or for a chance meeting in a public place. If the other person asks where, just say that you have several places that you need to be. Most people do not want to hear a list. So, this will usually end the conversation. A line like this can be a problem if the person decides to call you at home 5 minutes later and you answer the phone. Consequently, you need to use a little caution with this line.

Oh my! Look at the time!

Say this one with conviction, or it will not work. You need to make the other person think that you are late or in trouble or both. Never reveal why this particular time is important. You need to follow immediately with, “I can’t stay a minute longer!” Say good-bye and leave. You have not lied about appointments or tried to confuse them. You simply pointed out the time and left. They will assume that the reason that you had to go had very little to do with them. A variation of this line is to look at your watch and announce the time. “It’s four o’clock!” After that, it works the same way.

Well, it has been great seeing you again.

There are very few good come backs to this line because it compliments the other person while implying that you are leaving. It is a really great get-away line since it allows you to leave on a positive note. You can use this line as good-bye if you shake their hand or pat their back or shoulder as you walk away. They will be left wondering what just happened, but they will go look for their next victim.

My phone battery is about dead.

This works for a cordless phone at home or a cell phone. Everyone has experienced a low battery. Announcing means that you can either end the call gracefully or be rudely disconnected when the battery fails. Use some patent line like: “Have a good day,” and hang up. Do not answer the phone for the next 30 minutes unless you have caller ID.

Just hang up the phone.

If you are traveling, tell the other person that you may be encountering a dead area soon. At some point when their droning is going on and on, hang up. You will want to screen your calls before answering for the next 30 minutes or so. The next time you talk to them, if it comes up, tell them you are sorry about getting cut off.

Arrange for a phone call.

If you know that you are going to get cornered, arrange for someone to call you at a specified time. If you are having a face-to-face meeting, tell them you need to leave and leave. If you are on the phone, flash back and tell them it is an important call that will take a while and say good-bye.

Yawn and say, “I don’t know why I feel so tired.”

This one can be taken as an insult. Have a reason for being tired ready. Maybe it was a late night, or you have been stressed lately. When the other person says something that implies that they understand ask them to forgive your behavior. Follow that with a comment about needing to go rest. It should get you out of the conversation. Try to remember that you did this when you see the person again. This type of person usually has a memory like an elephant.

This is not a good time for me to talk.

You do not have to justify this one. Usually, it will imply that you are preoccupied with something and cannot keep up your end of the conversation. Tell them that you may try it another time and leave. This is usually taken well for some reason.

Giving is part of a holiday tradition, it was slightly unsettling when I did not see it in the mall while in the parking garage.

Recently I made the mistake of going Christmas shopping at the Westfield Milford Connecticut Post Mall on the last Saturday before Christmas. The mall was packed with shoppers buying Christmas gifts. Parking was rough especially since it had snowed the day before in hind sight maybe I should not have gone to the mall knowing it was going to be busy. The snow made parking the car that much more horrendous. Because people could not see lines they took up extra parking spots. After searching for a parking spot I ended up parking on the third tier of the parking garage next to the Cinema de Lux 14. I arrived there around 12:30pm and went in and ate my lunch then proceeded to do my shopping.

I left the mall around 3:15pm and proceeded to my car when I was finished. I got as far as the ramp before I came to a dead stop in a traffic line. It took nearly a half-an-hour before the car moved 10 feet. When I looked out at the traffic on the second floor of the parking garage all I saw were lines of cars trying to leave the mall. When I looked past the parking garage to exits leaving the mall all I saw were lines of traffic of cars trying to leave the mall.

The second floor of the parking garage as well as the cars behind me rang of honking horns. It became even worse when people started screaming at each other. They were yelling “Move”, honking their horns and getting very angry. The cars deadlocked in lines. You could smell the carbon monoxide coming from all the cars.

There was no courtesy from one person to another from the people in their vehicles. The people did not sound at one with the holiday spirit at all. In fact when I opened the window to let in a little air from the heat running all I wanted to do was close it quickly. It left me in disgust and with a feeling of dread. These sounds continued for hours as the cars creep very slowly out of the parking garage. The people who parked in the garage had no idea that they would to some degree become trapped like rats in cages. To top that there were the people who felt there no reason why they couldn’t sneak up and cut in line for their own greed to steal more time in their day, by forcing someone else to wait that much longer. These actions showed desperation in people and their ideas of getting ahead as well as what they are willing to do. It was not a very pretty picture.

I may sound as if I am ranting, but all I saw was very disappointing. Here we were at a time of giving, and there were some who had no appreciation for other people who were stuck in the situation as they were and they did not appear to care. An event such as this just requires a little bit more courtesy and patience from ourselves.

I look inside the lives of the homeless. It explains some of the reasons why they are the way they are, and in some ways teaches you to look at them in a different light.

Homelessness is a problem people have chosen to ignore day after day for hundreds of decades. Yes, when guilt gets in the way there is an occasional dollar or two given out, but has anyone tried to understand why or how one became homeless? Is their life much different from ours? Very few have actually sat down and interviewed them to find out about their past and present. Remember, there is a personality behind each dirty emotionless face and a reason why they do the things they do. If the working, middle, and upper class could only see that the “untouchables” have feelings as well, negative light might be lifted off the homeless and good would come out of it.

In the movie Dark Days, director Marc Singer decided to document the lives of many homeless people living in vast dark tunnels under New York City. All the homeless had similar experiences with life such as family tragedies, drug addiction, and loss of love, shelter and food but all felt sorrow and regret for the things they had done. “It’s a dump down there,” Singer says, “pitch black, rats running around everywhere, garbage, and smells that make your eyes water. When I first went down there, I was amazed and awed; I had so much respect for everybody and I kept thinking, “Could I have done this or would I have let myself go to pieces?” (indiewire) In the movie the police threatened to make all the tunnel residents within 30 days or face a forcible eviction. “They should leave us down here until they get housing then once they get housing they should ship us out,” said one of the upset residents after the police told them they would get them housing and shelter. “They are going to break up the family…I”ve got three words and it’s not I love you…its leave us alone!” said another angry homeless man. None of them wanted to go to a shelter. They worried about their stuff could get stolen or being infected with drugs and/or unclean drugs. When I heard that information on the video I found it surprising that the homeless would be worried about being infected by something (let alone drugs), but later on in my own interview at a local restaurant with Michael, a homeless man, I found out that he had the same reasoning. He said that “Shelters are unclean and you don’t know who is around you. Most don’t have background checks and the ones I have been to don’t even have a registry. You might be sleeping with a psycho and get killed during the middle of the night.” I then asked what he did instead “Man, here in Austin I tie my hammock above Barton Springs and sleep above the water. It’s peaceful and relaxing. I feel safe with the water flowing underneath you…Man it’s like heaven.”

Is it possible that shelters are the cause of homelessness? In the 1980’s there were several shelters and soup kitchens that improved 200,000 to 300,000 people’s lives a day. Yet, “when the cost of something falls, demand usually rises. That truism holds regardless of whether the costs are monetary, emotional or physical. When the expected cost of crime or adultery falls, more people engage in them. When homelessness becomes less painful, people are less willing to sacrifice their pride, their self-respect, or their cocaine fix to avoid it.” It might sound horrible to say that people chose to become homeless but they are not just submissive victims. “They make choices, like everyone else. The choices open to the homeless are far worse than those open to most Americans, but they are still choices” (103-104, Jencks).

Michael told me that he wasn’t homeless because of family problems or drugs (although he did do them); it was because of his need to travel and explore. He left his home at the age of fifteen and set out to see the world. If he needed money he would stand out on a fairly busy street corner and could make up to $20 an hour. That’s all he really needed for a couple of weeks. He got around by hitchhiking not by trains. He said he has gone around on trains a few times but jumping off damages your back pretty bad and he wouldn’t recommend it. “A normal day for the homeless doesn’t exist. You don’t have any place to be. You don’t have to worry about rent or picking up children from school. You just are and it’s great.” He went on to explain all the places he had seen and the beauty within them. He told me his most tragic moment was when his mother died, and he pleaded the 5th when I asked him how many times he had been arrested. He, just like the people in the tunnels of New York, claimed that time did not exist.

Another homeless man on Barton Springs Road called himself Music and talked freely about how many times the cops arrested him for jumping on trains, peeing in public places, disrupting the peace, trespassing, and well, way too many to name. He told me he wasn’t homeless because all the reasons one might think. He wanted to make a statement. He wanted to be against anything having to do with big corporations and the way society lived. He wanted to stand out and stand out is what he did. He traveled just as much as Michael did and his joy in life was music. He traveled to see concerts even if he was standing outside the gates. It was almost like he was trying to recreate the hippie movement in the 60’s and 70’s but failed by a couple generations.

Is there some sort of psychological disorder that these people have that make them want to stand out against the norm? Is it something inside of them that makes them become this way? In the text book Understanding Psychology it reads, “It is estimated that 25 percent of the homeless are mentally ill, overlapping partially with 33 percent of the homeless estimated to be severely addicted (Nation Coalition of the Homeless, 1999). This seems to be a direct result of deinstitutionalization.” (Kasschau, 508) Although I agree that some might have been in institutions, I find it hard to believe that more than half of the homeless population came out of mental institutes. However, I do believe from my observation (from videos, books and personal interviews) that more than 99 percent of all homeless are addicted to some sort of drug and/or alcohol. Making it impossible to hold steady jobs and keep personal relationships.

Is it possible that the drugs are the reason why a homeless man travels so much and stays away from a steady job, or is it because they are scared to keep relationships with one another?

“In 1989, at the peak of the last business cycle, 1.2 million work-age husbands reported personal income below $2500. Some of these men were physically or mentally disabled. Some had no jobs for other reasons. Whatever the cause of their poverty, most relied on their wife’s income to keep going. An even larger number of married women were probably one man away from homelessness.” (Jencks 77)

If a family breakdown occurs in this situation and one divorces the other it would be hard put your trust into anything, let alone a stranger. If a fire occurs and your children are lost one might think “What is the point of trying to get close to a person after such a tragic incident?”

Whatever the reason for this spreading problem, we have to help these people. We need to show them that it’s O.K. to trust again, O.K. to show their weaknesses, and make them realize that they can still do what they love without getting in trouble with the police every day and without living on the streets. We need to fix shelters so that the homeless can feel more comfortable and once again… feel human. We need to realize that the homeless have emotions as well. We need to promise them something and not abandon it. We need to recognize the homeless.
