The brass on her face is shinning so bright it could blind you. Now I ain’t no coward but I wouldn’t try to outsmart the IRS, cause honey, you just can’t do such a thing. You can’t take on the whole United States government. Why you could get in jail and never agin see the light of day. Now, they is just some things you are better off to leave alone and one of them things is the IRS. Honey, I wouldn’t have knowed a thing about it if Sister hadn’t come and just about drug me out of my house and home having one of her hissy fits. My Sister was screaming like a panther and hissing like a wild cat. I never heard the like in my life and I’ve heard a lot of caterwauling off sister. She will wear out your last little nerve and I mean your very last little nerve.

Sister had already give Guthrie what for. But she wasn’t done with it yet so she started on her Sister who loves her and tries her damnedest to put up with all her foolishness, without going plum off her rocker. And child, that ain’t easy to do. Sometimes I just ache to knock her to kingdom come. But Mama always taught me to be good to Sister.

Mama said Sister’s nerves was so fractious she might shoot off like a rocket if we didn’t calm her down, and child, I do try to keep Sister calm, but that’s a losing battle. As soon as I calm her down from one hissy fit, she’s going right into another one. But I try, I really do. Sometimes Leroy says, Lacy you just make Sister more crotchety than she naturally is by listening to all blabberin. Then again, he thinks it’s the funniest thing he ever seen and he just aggs her on. I could wring his neck when he goes on with his devilment like that.

Well I’ll be dadgum, I started to tell y’all about Sister’s troubles with the IRS but I clean forgot what I was talking about. Sister says I do carry on. Anyways, the IRS sent Sister and Guthrie a letter telling them they had underpaid their income taxes by $21 in the year 2000,and now they had to pay them scutters over a thousand dollars with all the interest that had been tacked on. Now I can’t hardly blame Sister for taking on like a dying calf. That was right thoughtless of the IRS to wait 12 years to let them know about it.

Now I know we all make mistakes but the government ain’t supposed to act no such way. Anyways, Sister tore her house apart, and honey would you believe she found them old tax papers and sent the IRS another copy of everything. Well, to make a long story short, it wasn’t Sister’s and Guthrie’s mistake at all. It was the IRS that made a mistake. Sister and Guthrie shore was happy campers. You know pore folks don’t have no thousand dollars laying around to give to the IRS. So I guess Sister outsmarted the IRS by hanging onto to her old tax papers. I know one thing child, I ain’t never goin to throw our old tax papers away. And don’t y’all either. Them scutters might come after y’all next.

China’s streets are not clean at all, whereas America just has this clean feeling attached to it.  There is litter everywhere, and city roads can be cracked or broken.  Everywhere you go, you will find cigarette butts on the ground, and soda bottles are scattered all over the place.

China’s cities are polluted.  Many people smoke, and it is pretty unhealthy environment.  Smog producing factories are everywhere, and the air is sometimes hard to breathe.  China has done a great job cleaning up the air since the ‘08 Olympic Games, but there is still a lot of work to do.

Chinese kids are not as educated when it comes to personal health.  Have I mentioned smoking?  It’s a widespread problem, and something definitely needs to be done.  Drugs, such as opium, are somewhat more prevalent in China than in America (though it’s getting better).   Dental health is also lagging behind.

Many Chinese still have low paying jobs, especially factory workers.  China makes everything, and they have a huge underpaid labor force to work unsafe jobs.  China simply doesn’t pay as well as America.  This can even lead some to suicide.  Check out this editorial for more information on these suicides: http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/21/editorial-thoughts-on-foxconn/. 

Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s not like China is a hellhole.  For more info on an example of one, check out this article about Egypt.  China has made great progress over the past few decades, and it will continue to make strides.  However, it is clear that China’s economic progress is far superior to its progress on improving citizens’ lives.

  • Boredom

    Boredom could be a result of not having enough to do. If you are at work and there is little work to be completed, then you will definitely look for other things to do like playing Solitaire or Sudoku online. Both are, needless to say, very addictive!

  • Not Challenging Enough

    If your job is not challenging enough for you, you may find that your brain starts to deteriorate and needs to be constantly rejuvenated in other ways. For instance, you may be more challenged to play games online and win, just to create excitement in your life.

  • Long Hours

    Most of us work 8-9 hours in a day, some longer. That is a long period of time to concentrate on just work. There will be moments when you feel that you need to take a break from the tasks at hand and turn your attention to something else, just so that you will be refreshed by the change of tasks. Thus, you turn to checking your e-mails every few moments or some other online time-wasters.

  • Underpaid

    Some people feel that they are overworked and underpaid. Thus, they seek to address the issue in the way they could manage, without actually losing their job. Use company’s resources to do other time-wasting things such as searching for another job online.

  • More Fun

    At times, work is just not fun enough. After awhile, you may find that you need to get through the day, just to get your salary at the end of the month. It becomes a chore. To make it less of a burden, you seek something fun to do online while at work such as checking out YouTube, looking for jokes and other value-less content online, or super-poking your friends on Facebook.

  • Unproductive Moments

    There will be moments at work when you have a dearth of ideas or unproductive moments. You can’t seem to settle down to do what you are supposed to do. During these period of time, you can disguise your time-wasting online activities by saying that you are actually doing research or looking for ideas to complete your project. That gives you the go-ahead to hang out at forum or chat rooms.

  • The Thrill of Breaking the Rules

     You are simply thrilled that you are flouting the company’s rules and regulations. You are waiting to see if you will get caught by your employer for wasting time at work. As many people do, you often pretend to be doing work when actually you are just wasting time online. You laugh at the stupidity of your employer for being a fool, thinking that you are really doing your work.

    • Whatever your reasons to waste time online, you know that you ultimately have a choice whether to continue or to stop your activities before you are caught. We all know that it’s wrong and we all are prepared, to a certain extent, to take bear the consequences of our actions. Good luck and happy wasting time!
