A NEW York judge says a hotel maid’s lawsuit claiming that former French presidential contender Dominique Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted her can proceed to trial.

Bronx state Supreme Court Justice Douglas McKeon ruled today in the civil case. His decision was first reported by The New York Post.

The maid says Strauss-Kahn tried to rape her in his Manhattan hotel suite in May. Strauss-Kahn has denied doing anything violent during the encounter.

Prosecutors dropped related criminal charges last year.

Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers said the civil suit also should be dismissed. They argued he has diplomatic immunity because of his former post as head of the International Monetary Fund. He resigned shortly after his arrest.

The maid’s lawyers say the immunity argument relies on a United Nations agreement the US didn’t sign.

Central Bank of Syria Attacked,The report blamed the attack was an “armed terrorist group.” “A group of armed terrorists launched an RPG attack on the Central Bank of Syria in Sabaa Bahrat Square in Damascus,” kara television reports.

“Annan Plan is a guarantee of peace and freedom, to prevent civil war, and even regional. Let us bear with this responsibility,” he said, urging the world also support the efforts of the UN and Arab League peace.

Annan Urges Syria and the Opposition Stop the Violence of Action, “I urge all good forces pemrintah, opposition or else lay down their arms and cooperate with the monitors of the United Nations to consolidate the cessation of violence in all its forms,” Annan said in a statement.

“The government in particular should stop using heavy weapons as promised, draw weapons and armed units of population centers and fully implement its commitments according to plan six chapters.”

Annan welcomed a United Nations plan to send 300 unarmed observers gecatan weapons to Syria, and said: “The task of the mission should help create conditions conducive to the political process that much more is needed, which will address concerns and aspirations of the people of Syria .

“I call upon the government and the opposition and the people of Syria to be willing to engage in a process such as one of the most priority.”

Just days after being sent, a team of seven monitors in Syria say they face a daunting task to strengthen the ceasefire agreed last week by President Bashar al-Assad.
