I hear that a number of people have been injured or died due to overuse of firecrackers while celebrating New Year functions. This is no good for our environment as well.

This was too smoky in some places

Happy New Year to you my friends, I wish you, this to be the best year of your life with the grace of God. In our place people used firecrackers but not that much as this place is a little out of the city limits and my fellow citizen are a bit orthodox type and have faith in old traditional ways of celebrations such occasions.

We danced Bhangara to the tunes of big drums and had a lot of fun you know the Punjabi ways. Some of them had some drinks but none was out of control. I was away for most of the day and came back in the evening to have fun with friends in the evening. This really was full of joy. There was nothing as smoky as I heard from some parts of our country and some other countries, where some people even died or injured seriously due to firecrackers.

The problem seems to be these days that people have, forgotten the good ways of the occasions and have taken every thing for simple fun and wasting money. I am not saying that fire crackers are as bad a thing which should not be used but going out of the way and overdoing it certainly too bad.

The way people are wasting so much of money on such unproductive things is really so disgusting, especially when the environment is on the stake. I am sure this needs a serious thinking before this is too late.

These are the used to employees sickness.

For the sake of reasoning.

A usual conversation with a friend who is a college president. He commented that he is already used to the different tale-tells of his teachers and employees. With a glance, I can tell who are honest, and who are those, just telling lies as a scape-goats of their laziness and habitual coming late to work.

7 Some lies excuses:

1. Some will reason out, that on my way to school, run-over a wild dog across the road. So, I arrived late this morning.

2. I slept late last night working for an important thing. Making me late to wake up this morning. I am late again today.

3. I arrived early in school, but I have not seen you. So I look for you around.

4. I wanted to come early, but I have to bring my dog to the Veterinarian because its sick.

5. I am about to leave, when I noticed that I’m with slippers, so I have to go back and wear shoes.

6. On my half way to school, when I noticed that I forget my eyeglasses, and the key for my room.

7. On my way to school, an insect stuck on my eyelids, I have to rub it. I can’t see the way, I’m driving.

The world is full of unreasonable fake excuses. Just to justify their coming late to work. Administrator must find immediate solution to this problem. Implement proper discipline to employees who are habitual doers. This often the cause of unproductive workplace.

If you are one of those people who likes to waste time online at work, you are not the only one out there. There are many people, me included, who waste time doing unproductive stuff online while they are supposed to be doing something for their company. If they know that they are wasting time, why do they still continue to do that? Here are some of the reasons why people waste time online at work.

Boredom

Boredom could be a result of not having enough to do. If you are at work and there is little work to be completed, then you will definitely look for other things to do like playing Solitaire or Sudoku online. Both are, needless to say, very addictive!

Not Challenging Enough

If your job is not challenging enough for you, you may find that your brain starts to deteriorate and needs to be constantly rejuvenated in other ways. For instance, you may be more challenged to play games online and win, just to create excitement in your life.

Long Hours

Most of us work 8-9 hours in a day, some longer. That is a long period of time to concentrate on just work. There will be moments when you feel that you need to take a break from the tasks at hand and turn your attention to something else, just so that you will be refreshed by the change of tasks. Thus, you turn to checking your e-mails every few moments or some other online time-wasters.

Underpaid

Some people feel that they are overworked and underpaid. Thus, they seek to address the issue in the way they could manage, without actually losing their job. Use company’s resources to do other time-wasting things such as searching for another job online.

More Fun

At times, work is just not fun enough. After awhile, you may find that you need to get through the day, just to get your salary at the end of the month. It becomes a chore. To make it less of a burden, you seek something fun to do online while at work such as checking out YouTube, looking for jokes and other value-less content online, or super-poking your friends on Facebook.

Unproductive Moments

There will be moments at work when you have a dearth of ideas or unproductive moments. You can’t seem to settle down to do what you are supposed to do. During these period of time, you can disguise your time-wasting online activities by saying that you are actually doing research or looking for ideas to complete your project. That gives you the go-ahead to hang out at forum or chat rooms.

The Thrill of Breaking the Rules

You are simply thrilled that you are flouting the company’s rules and regulations. You are waiting to see if you will get caught by your employer for wasting time at work. As many people do, you often pretend to be doing work when actually you are just wasting time online. You laugh at the stupidity of your employer for being a fool, thinking that you are really doing your work.

Whatever your reasons to waste time online, you know that you ultimately have a choice whether to continue or to stop your activities before you are caught. We all know that it’s wrong and we all are prepared, to a certain extent, to take bear the consequences of our actions. Good luck and happy wasting time!

A practice designed to take the company down and out.

When an employee, be it C.E.O. or Security Guard, feels

aggrieved, the method adopted is often “unworking.”

This is to be differentiated from doing nothing. Unworking

requires action which impacts negatively on the fortunes

of the company.

It stops just below malicious destruction of property,

as the unworker does not wish to be fired. Holding

the post until finding another job or retirement at

full pension is the goal.

Unworking is easiest to see when examining management.

Manager

I use the term, “Hiding in the Office” to describe the

behaviour of a manager whose authority curtailed,

ceases to visit the floor or evidence interest in the

day to day operations of the company.

Creating the unworking manager is quite simple; reinstate

an employee fired, countermand a direction given.

All it takes is one insult to the authority of a

manager and you have now created the Unworker.

Unworking Managers arrive at work and sit in the office.

All decisions will be passed upwards. No initiative will

be shown at any time.

Unless given specific instructions as to what to do in

regards to a specific incident, the manager will do nothing.

Employees, quickly perceiving their is no Manager do what

they please. Chaos seeps in. If infractions are brought to

the attention of the manager, s/he will do nothing but make

feeble attempts to contact superiors.

As the Manager will make no decision, the quantity of

work passed upwards means the Senior Person has to

manage the business.

To fire the Unworking manager is impossible. S/he will

sue for wrongful dismissal and easily win. After all,

s/he has followed “policy” to the letter.

Mid Level

When an employee, be it a Secretary, Clerk, Engineer, is

resentful over a slight, Unworking becomes an Art Form.

A Secretary will make sure certain documents can’t be found,

messages are not conveyed and often cause equipment to become

inoperative.

As most companies use Windows, tweaking certain emulations

will turn the computer into a paper weight.

As most secretaries save everything to hard drive, well,

there goes that two hundred page report.

As most companies do not have a real techie who could

quickly diagnose and correct the problem, the IT person

will spend hours, days trying to “fix” what isn’t broken.

This means the Secretary can not work at her desk, or

needs another computer, or has a work holiday.

As most bosses don’t know a micro-chip from a potato chip,

and most in house techies operate on the Must Consult

Someone Else frequency, buying new computers is usually

the “fix”.

This method works well for data entry clerks and any one

whose work entails a computer.

Other Employees

The next genre of Unworking concerns forgetting, i.e

forgetting to order cartridges for printers. Fabulous

voyages to unproductivity, (the goal of unworking)

are begun.

By sending wrong information, i.e. where a company is

located at 123 Blue Street and the address given is

123 Bule Street, one can assume deliveries will be

problematic.

Reversing numbers, 876-8432 transcribed as 867-8423

assists in confusion.

Simply put, a few small errors can be very effective.

The best method to Unwork is to Create the Monster.

Enter the Monster

The Monster could be anything intrinsically trivial.

It could be a rule, a practice; anything can be turned

into a Monster.

Workers have gone on strike because the Senior Accountant

didn’t say good morning to them. Making an issue out of

nothing is the hallmark of a world class Unworker.

Once there is a Monster which absorbs time and energy

and of course, money, the Unworker has a reason why

s/he is not working.

Lower Level

The focus on lower level employees, when they are constantly

supervised, might suggest Unworking will be difficult.

Seeing a line of clerks banging at a computer or answering

calls looks like work. Of course, if these clerks are giving

the wrong information it is Unwork.

Locking doors and file cabinets and going away with the key

are magnificent examples of Unworking. Leaving clients

standing on the pavement while you hide in the bathroom

should prove the adage;

If you ignore Customers long enough, they’ll go away.

Allowing someone to park where another will be boxed in,

especially when s/he must be at an important meeting is

genius.

One of the most fabulous examples of Unworking occurred

when a despised manager removed a rubbish bin from one

corner to another.

The workers took to throwing their garbage where the bin

wasn’t, the cleaner took to complaining about the garbage,

the Manager called a meeting to inform the workers about

the bin, which led to an argument and a walk out.

Unworking can be prevented by not allowing workers to

become aggrieved. Respect them, listen to them, put

yourself in their place.

Remember, even under slavery slaves broke their tools.
