Bullying Or a Lighthearted Prank? 

Many kids involved claim it was all a light-hearted event in which it was only meant to be a ‘fun time.’ However, starting a Facebook group named “Kick a Jew Day,” then spreading the word to all your friends on the internet that you’re going to take part in such an event is alarming, and should not be accepted by the school. The school claims they are not going to take this event lightly and will be most likely be suspending the 37 kids that supposedly took part in this event. However, some students claim that when they did “Kick a Ginger Day” along with “Kick a Blonde Day” there were no punishments, and so continued to the “Jew Kicking” event. Why is bullying such a growing trend in today’s schools, especially with all the teaching against it? The schools, and even the media are exposing the dangers of bullying to everyone, yet some still choose to ignore the feelings of others, they choose to ignore the teen depression, and even teen suicides. I’m not suggesting these events are going to lead to the death of students, but I am however suggesting that it’s not the intent that’s left upon a person- it’s the impact. Do us a favor next time and keep that in mind next time you want to start a group called “Kick a Jew, African-American, Oriental, White, etc. Person…”
