The French Union Forces established an airhead at Dien Bien Phu to cut off Viet Minhs’ supply lines into Laos and to draw it to a pitched battle against the French forces where superior artillery, armor and air fire power would be brought to bear on the Viet Minhs.

The United States being a world super power is a country that is mostly inlvolved in the resolution of global conflicts. Behind its effort are the men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line in the service of their country.
