How are you supposed to celebrate this day? What is the purpose?

The start, as always, holds so much promise.

I presently am vice president for a heritage society (The Port Moody Heritage Society, Port Moody, BC) and have volunteered for it for the past 10 years. I have also done other volunteer work before this, but more recently with my closer work with and on the board of directors and executive as well as a few years on the city heritage commission have seen the struggle of groups both financially and to find volunteers.

In a time when what we hear on a daily basis seems to be all negative, a few three-word phrases can add value, give freedom and enhance both our lives and the lives of people around us.

There comes a point in every potential volunteer’s trek in the process you must confront: informing your parents. In my case, it wasn’t easy; many others encounter a bad reaction. So how do you tell your parents of your intention to give 27 months of your life to a great cause?

Before you run off and upheave your entire life, you should be sure this is something God wants from you. In the news we hear people killing their families because “God told them to”. This is why you test the voices to make sure they are His.
