There is only one meaning of life; the act of living itself. Perhaps, life is a riddle, that we shrink from giving up.

God has given us life, and He intends for us to live it to the full. But being able to do so depends on the choices we make everyday.

Allow me to offer a few ideas. This is just a partial list of things I have learned in my own lifetime:

1. Smile And Say Thank You All The Time.

And smile while saying it. A “thank you” without a smile is like a gift without a wrapper. Sometimes the wrapper is more attractive than the gift. Any and all compliments can be handled by simply saying, “Why, thank you!”

2. Be Happy With Who Are You.

Some people are working backstage, some are in the orchestra, some are on stage singing, some are in the audience as critics, and some are there to applaud. Know who and where you are.

3. Stop Doing Business With Anyone Who Is Rude To The Waiters.

And while we are on the subject, I have warned my children never to marry anyone who is rude to the waiters, and who doesn’t like dogs and cats.

4. Have The Courage And Humility To Say: “I Apologize” And “You Are Right.”

These are the most important words for maintaining vital relationships.

5. People Change All The Time, So Change For The Better.

I have learned to live the fact that people do change. The People I used to respect , admire and love have turned against me and tried to hurt my family – and that is all right. I just have to make sure I turn out better and I never be like them.

6. When You’ve Made Mistake, Make Amends Immediately.

It is not true that the wrong will work itself out. You need to repair damages.

7. Learn to Pick Your Battles.

Ask yourself this crucial question. “Will this matter one year from now?. How about one month? One week? One day?”

Love God. Love your family. Be excellent at work, and be good to your friends.

You never know when you are going to need them to empty your bedpan.

Sometimes, we need to experience the worst of situations in order to realize the importance of having what we have.

Through time we normally get bored with what we usually have. When having the same food on the table every meal, we usually complain and wish to have something different. We wanted more. As another example, we continue to buy new clothes despite the fact that never ran out of piled clothes in our closet. We always wanted something new. Perhaps it is just part of our discontentment nature.

Waking up every morning sometimes seems like an automatic impulse. Then we go to work as if it’s only part of an ordinary routine. We do not usually appreciate these little things we have. It’s something that we are accustomed to doing, which we simply ignore its importance. That is why even with the job we have, we still dream of something bigger beyond the walls of our work. We continue to look for “greener pasture” as they call it.

Jenny worked as a waitress in BB Restaurant, the most successful restaurant in town. It was also referred to as “The Place of the Happiest People” by the critics. The pay was good enough to fund her needs and even her luxuries. The owner also never failed to provide all the employees with their benefits. In fact they had received more than the minimum requirement from the government. Like the rest of the employees, Jenny was very thankful.

It all changed 5 years later. Another restaurant was opened in town. Jenny heard that even with less pressure at work, the waitresses in that restaurant had better pay than hers. “That’s unfair,” Jenny convinced the other employees. So, she gathered them and demanded more from their employer. They threatened the employer to sabotage their operation. A lot of costumers began to complain about the services of the restaurant. Waiters and waitresses became unfriendly.

The generous employer gave in to restore the restaurant’s original image. The employees received what they asked for. However a few months later, Jenny and her co-employees wanted more and again they demanded for it.

One day, a very powerful typhoon hit the town. BB Restaurant was among the wrecked establishments. “How can we survive without it?” Jenny cried. Her husband also worked in the same restaurant. They have 3 children who are still in college. Despite what happened, the owner promised to help all the employees.

Sometimes, we need to experience the worst of situations in order to realize the importance of having what we have. Everything we have no matter how unexciting is worth to cherish. We don’t usually appreciate them until one day we no longer have the luxury to have them.

Several years ago, when the stormy night, an old man and his wife went into a small hotel lobby in Philadelphia. Trying to avoid the rain, the couple approached the front desk to get a place to sleep.

“Can you give us a room here?” the husband asked. And the butler, was a friendly man with a smile, looked at the couple and explained that there are three large convention in town. “All of our rooms have been filled,” the waiter said. “But I can not send a good partner as you come out the rain at one o’clock in the morning. Maybe you want to sleep in my room? Not much, but enough to make you sleep comfortably tonight.”

When the couple is in doubt, persuaded the young waiter. “Do not worry about me. I’ll be fine,” said the waiter.

Eventually the couple agreed. When the early morning when the bill is paid, the old man said to the waiter, “You like a good manager should be the owner of the best hotels in America. Maybe one day I’ll build one for you.” The clerk saw them and smiled. Three of them laughed.

When the couple drove away, the elderly couple agreed that the helpful clerk was indeed exceptional, as finding sesesorang who are both friendly and helpful is not an easy thing.

Two years passed. The waiter almost forgotten the incident when he received a letter from the old man. It recalled that stormy night and accompanied by a round-trip ticket to New York, asked the young man came to visit the old couple.

The old man met him in New York, and brought him to the corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. He pointed to a magnificent new building there, a palace with a reddish stone, with towers that rise high into the sky.

“That,” said the old man, “is the hotel I have just built for you to manage”. “You must be joking,” replied the young man. “I assure you, I do not,” said the old man, with a big smile.

The name of the old man was William Waldorf Astor, and the structure of these magnificent buildings is the original form of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. Young men who later became the first manager was George C. Boldt.

The young waiter will never forget the events that brought him to become manager of one of the most prestigious hotel chains in the world.

The lesson to be learned from the story above is a “treat all people with love, kindness and respect and you will not fail”.
God bless you …

He almost did not see an old woman standing at the curb, but in the misty light he could see that old lady in need of help. Then he stopped the car in front of the Mercedes Pontiacnya old woman, then he got out and approached him.

Although the old woman’s smiling face still feel worried, because after waiting for several hours no one helped her. Does he mean to hurt her?

The man was penampilanya not too good, he looked so apprehensive. The old woman may feel that he was so frightened, standing alone in such cold weather, it seems the man knew what he was thinking. The man said “I am here to help you ma’am, why do not you wait in the car there was not much warmer? Oh yes my name is Bryan …”

Yach indeed he was too tired especially for women as old as himself, this is really heavy. Bryan entered into the old woman under the car to repair the damaged.

Finally he finished, but he looks so dirty and tired, the old woman opened the glass window of his car and spoke to him. He said that he was from St. Louis and happened to pass by this road. He felt that not enough if only to thank you for the assistance given. The old woman told how he had to pay, regardless of the amount which he asked not be a problem, because he imagined what would happen if the man does not help him.

Bryan just smiled. Bryan did not say how much to pay, because for him helping people is not a job. He believes when helping someone in need without a return someday God would retaliate perbuatanya charity.

He told the old woman: “If he really wanted to reply to his services, sometime in the future when he saw someone who needed help so please help these people … and remember me”. Bryan waited until the old woman started the car and disappeared from view.

After walking a few miles of the old lady saw a small cafe, and then he stopped there to eat and rest awhile. A waitress came and gave a clean towel to dry her wet hair. The old woman noticed that the waitress was pregnant, and she was so young. Then he remembered to Bryan.

After the old woman finished eating and the waiter was taking a change for him, the old woman went out quietly.

After his departure the waiter returned, the waiter was confused where the old woman went, and he found a scrap of paper on the table and $ 1000. He was so moved after reading what was written by the old woman: “You do not owe me anything because someone has helped me, that’s why I help you, then here’s what you do:” Do not ever stop to give love and affection “.

Night when he came home and went to bed, he thinks about money and what is written by the old woman. How could she know that she and her husband desperately needed money to await the birth of her baby?

She knows how her husband was very worried about this, then she hugged her husband, who lay beside him and gave a soft kiss and whispered: “Everything will be okay, I Love You Bryan”.

Everything that spins will always spinning. But remember one thing: “Do not ever stop to do good”

I like casual time with my woman, so we often go to our favorite Denny’s to drink coffee and talk about things. Sometimes I cant help to over here some waitresses complain about crappy tips, and I here some customers complain about crappy service. Well who do you think is in the right, is it the customer that comes in with the attitude that he or she thinks the waitress is beneath them, that most of the time the under tip them. Then you got our small minded people that think they make good wages plus tips, don’t expect good tips from these types. Or is it the waiter or waitresses that bust their butts trying to get your order right and make sure your visit is pleasant. I cant help but to fell sorry for them, do you realize that in this career that their wages are around 2.50 to 3.00 $ a hour plus tips. I know when I go out I take care of my waitress or waiter, in return they take care of me. So the next time you decided to go out think of this, they may have families just like you. Trust me show them a little more respect and in return you wont be sorry.

Tips for avoiding a inappropriate meeting.

As a therapist I spoke with many women who have had meetings with the wrong man , wrong reasons. No matter if you have 15 or 50 years, will continue to struggle in meaningless relationships, tolerating disrespectful behavior or partners tiring.

Finally get enough of all this and end up coming to me asking me “How did that?”. My question is the same: “When did you start noticing red flag or to question the compatibility of you?” Most of the times will admit that this has happened to the second or third meeting. Although unlikely, it is true.So if you want to make sure you avoid the wrong guys, consider these tips that will lead to partner.

Lesson 1
Learn to trust instinct
Whether it is a voice you hear in your head or an empty stomach, your instincts are like an internal warning system. At the first meeting , you will trigger the behavior of these instincts – maybe it is rude to the waiter or talk about it all night – be careful! Talk about all your feelings and concerns that arise as a result of his behavior: “I feel bad when you told the waiter …” Maybe it was just an escape or even so is he.’s Reaction will tell you more. If his answer is wrong, the best solution is to politely thank her for dinner and you’re going as fast to the nearest exit.

Lesson 2
Think what you want in a relationship and do not compromise
It is not picky. It comes to define what you want out of life and support your ideas. That does not mean you have to eliminate from the calculation of an otherwise great guy just because he is bald or has a million dollars in the bank. Instead, I encourage you to be aware of what you want and need in a relationship. If you find major differences or observe inappropriate behavior, then be careful. Although it’s nice to give somebody a second chance, really want to agree with a third meeting with a guy who already know it’s wrong for you? Be careful as you wake up you’re already in a relationship that was supposed to be completed since the first cup of coffee.

Lesson 3
First impressions can be wrong sometimes, but it sure is good second impression!
Think about it. Everybody talk about the new restaurant in town. Finally manage to get a reservation and have high expectations. Arrive and ambience is wonderful. When the waiter appears and finally, it is a bit inappropriate behavior. Specialty shows very bored. I think “It’s nothing,” He’s probably very busy. “ Everything you order and wait and wait. After an hour there with a wilted salad. Steak is cold and a little burnt. Install disappointment. I think “I want to like this place, but the whole night was not held as expected and you will probably not come to that restaurant again. Why does not impose these standards and when it comes to relationships? Go to a second meeting . But again if you get a cold and arrogant steak, then quit.

We remember that “gambling is the third meeting. If you do not have no luck to it, not accept a fourth meeting. Perhaps it’s a nice guy, but your instincts will tell if the right guy for you. If you continue to meet with someone inappropriate, then you will not be available for when the person appears potrivita.Alte 3 items

Is dining out a good experience for you?

It is a well known fact by people of my generation, when we were growing up,people were all generally of a smaller size.As a child of the sixties and seventies,it was highly unusual to meet a fat kid.If you did,he probably had a “glandular problem”.At the same time, most meals I remember were made on a smaller scale.A burger was a normal size, one patty, two buns, nothing extraordinary hamburger, then, naturally,it was a cheeseburger.

But,as time moved forward, and I learned about words like inflation, deficit,I also learned of another phenomena, value meals at fast food restaurants, you know, three tacos for a buck, three hamburgers for a dollar, but sadly, this phase of my life faded and it was ,”Would you like to supersize that order?”

Usually,I was ordering takeout at a drive thru fast food place,so I was seated quite comfortably,in my car, with the seat having to be slowly inched back, due to the narrowing space between my midsection and the steering wheel. This was no problem,I just kept ordering takeout ,until one day my family decided we should dine in for a change With this being said ,we decided on a nice restaurant, went in to be seated.A very slim young waitress led us to a booth, and ask if this accommodation was suitable. We all agreed it was fine and seated ourselves in a booth the waitress directed us to.My wife and daughter slid in on the other side of the table, quite comfortably.I ,on the other side of the table, took a deep breath ,tucked in my breadbasket and squeezed in on the other side. When I exhaled the air out of my lungs,I found my stomach resting above the edge of the table. My daughter ask me if I thought we needed to move to a table.I told. her I thought I would be ok here. After about five minutes of discomfort and very shallow breathing I motioned for a waitress to come to our table.”Ma’am,with all the years I have Supersized,I am now the one Supersized,do you mind if we move to a table?”I ask.The waitress cordially moved us to a table, and I told the waitress,”With all the supresizing some of us have been through, management might want to supersize their booths.”

Tips for dealing with a waiter who just won't deliver your food with a smile.

It’s amazing how easily an eagerly anticipated night on the town can be ruined by rude waitstaff. As a customer, there is no reason that you should ever have to accept rude service from a waiter, provided that you, as a customer, have been polite. What can be done if you find yourself in a situation where your relaxing night out, or worse, your special celebration, is being ruined by a rude waiter? Try the following tips to help your night run a little more smoothly:Check Out Your Own Attitude

Are you in a bad mood tonight? It’s all too easy to take out frustrations on a service person you will most likely never see again. It may be a waiter’s job to serve you, but that doesn’t make the waiter your servant! Have you smiled and made eye contact? Or have you been criticizing the waiter for something that is out of his/her control, such as the wait for the table or the seasoning on the food? Have you caused him/her to make many extra trips by, for example, asking for one thing (cutlery, drink refill, extra appetizers) at a time rather than several at once?

Sympathize With Your Waiter

If you’re certain you’ve been a model customer, and you’re still dealing with an unmistakably rude waiter, remember that the waiter is a person. Although no one should bring their personal life with them to work, nobody is perfect. Sympathizing with a rude waiter can turn you into his/her ally for the evening, resulting is service with a smile. Try making a comment about how busy your waiter looks, and ask if he/she has had a tough night. Letting him/her vent a little about the customer who threw food at him/her earlier because it was too salty, and then didn’t leave a tip, might improve your waiter’s mood, and, in turn, the service!

Take It Higher

If you have extended your efforts and patience beyond what you feel is appropriate, don’t hesitate to speak to a manager about the waiter’s behavior. You shouldn’t be expected to suffer through a terrible experience, after all. Perhaps you can be reseated to a section being covered by a waiter with a sunnier disposition.

Let Your Wallet Do the Talking

At the end of your meal, if you feel you have recieved truly poor service, it is your right to withold some, or all, of the tip. Although a 15-20% tip seems to have become automatic these days, a tip is something that is earned by providing competent service. If 15% is appropriate for decent service, and 20-25% for great or excellent service, then lousy service deserves 5-10%, and in situations where a waiter is deliberately rude, nothing at all may very well be appropriate. Just be careful to avoid punishing waitstaff for things that are not their fault, such as kitchen delays or the quality of the food. (They’re bringing it to you, not cooking it!)

Bon Appetit!

Being a waiter is not an easy job. Its especially hard if you're not making enough good tips. Here are some hints that can increase the quantity and quality of tips you receive from customers.

Start by introducing yourself to the customer and let them know your name. This makes you a person to the guest and not some faceless waiter.

Be knowledgeable! There is nothing worse than a clueless waiter. Know the daily specials, food/wine combos and the menu as a whole. Guests appreciate waiters that can make intelligent suggestions.

Don’t ever push guests to order what you want them to in order to meet your sales targets. You must help the guests make a choice, not force it on them.

Don’t indulge in small talk with your colleagues in full view of guests. They might think that you’re gossiping about them.

Add a smile to your service! If you are happy (or appear to be), then the guests will also tend to be happier, resulting in a bigger tip.

Repeat orders back to guests. This prevents any misunderstandings that can cost you your tips.

Add some light flair to your service. This can be done by adding some humour, making good observations and encouraging guests’ orders.

Identify your guests. Observe their body language and keep in mind what type of people they are. Businessmen will not like waiting long for food, whilst holiday-makers tend to be more relaxed. Adjust your speed and attention to suit each type of guest.

Take complaints seriously! Show empathy and do your best to solve the guest complaints. Complaints that are solved in a speedy fashion can turn a sour guest into a happy tipping guest.

Work with your team. Working with fellow waiters and helping them out will in turn lead them to helping you out when you need help. Sometimes you can’t get to every guest’s need in time, therefore asking for help will keep service running, resulting in better tips for you and your colleague.
