An essay on the strengths and weakness of the Articles of Confederation.

The Articles of Confederation was one of the first official documents of the United States. However after ten years the Articles were replaced by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The Articles were a stepping stone which led to the Constitution however the Articles contained more weaknesses than strengths which forced the colonists to get rid of them and create a new document.

There were quite a few strengths and weaknesses of The Articles. For one The Articles gave the government power to declare war and/or peace. However, the government wasn’t allowed to have a formal army or navy. The federal government would have to rely on the states for a military. Of all the weaknesses the biggest weakness of The Articles was the inability of the government to tax the citizens or even the states. Without being able to levy direct taxes on its citizens, the federal government was largely unable to govern. Instead of taxes, states were able to contribute whatever amount of money they wanted to the federal government, even if that amount was nothing at all. Funding infrastructure was difficult enough without regulated funding, but America was in the middle of fighting a war. The American Revolution as well as any other wars the United States would become engaged in would be an uphill battle because of their astonishing cost. Congress could only declare war and not fight it, making any declaration of war merely a symbol of the “United States” as a nation, using the façade of a country over the infinitely more powerful small state governments. Congress could not gain any credit for the nation after the war because it was unable to raise any taxes to pay off the national debt.

If the government had the ability to tax then the articles might have had a chance. But since it didn’t there was no hope for The Articles of Confederation.

What is the next step?

When you feel that you have come to a turning point in your life and know that you have to make a change for the better, what is the first thing you may think of? Money? I can tell you from experience that money is not the real key. A lot of great things have happened when people focus on money but there have also been many disasters. The real answer to making a change in your life is to look within. The only thing stopping you from achieving your goals is you. That’s right, if you think you can’t do it, you probably won’t.

For all the good it does, making decisions with the help of family and friends can be rewarding but when it comes to major life-changing decisions you have to weigh all the options. The guaranteed investment is to work from within yourself to determine your strengths and weaknesses. From here you can truly make a decision that will benefit not only you but others who are important to you. The reason I say this is because investing in your self-worth affects how you interact with others in a way that is indescribable. When we are just walking blindly through life and not living our dreams, others that we care about may suffer because we are not a true, happy self.

What do we do with the "info"?

People would love to talk about others. Be it good or bad. But usually bad stuff will be a hot topic to be discussed. Why?

Because it is fun to talk bad about someone else? Don’t you ever put yourself in their shoes? How does it feel to know that someone else talking bad studd behind your back? I’m sure it’s not something you like.

So, the same goes to others. They will also feel agitated or annoyed when somebody else talking bad behind their backs. It’s not even fun!

As Rasulullah s.a.w have said:

“Whosoever relieves from a believer some grief pertaining to this world, Allah will relieve from him some grief pertaining to the Hereafter. Whosoever alleviates the difficulties of a needy person who cannot pay his debt, Allah will alleviate his difficulties in both this world and the Hereafter. Whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter. Allah will aid a servant (of His) so long as the servant aids his brother. Whosoever follows a path to seek knowledge therein, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. No people gather together in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah and studying it among themselves, except that tranquility descends upon them, mercy covers them, the angels surround them, and Allah makes mention of them amongst those who are in His presence. Whosoever is slowed down by his deeds will not be hastened forward by his lineage.” [Muslim]

Look at the underlined one “… Whosoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in this world and the Hereafter…” as all Muslims are brothers and sisters. So how we should protect our family, the same goes to other Muslims as well.

Well, the point of this hadith that I want to highlight is that, Allah knows when we tell others about others’ faults. Be it muslims or non-muslims. The payback that we’ll get, I’m afraid it will be even worst. So, don’t talk when you know about someone else’s weaknesses or faults. Instead, let the person knows about it. If he or she is concerns enough to correct themselves, that’s credit to us insha Allah ^^

Between the cradle and the grave, everything that we do and expect in life is powered by reality.

Between the cradle and the grave, everything that we do and expect in life is powered by reality. Nothing can materialize outside its circle. Nature pulsates with the rhythm of reality. Our hopes and dreams are attributed to reality; the evolution of the universe had emanated from a mystery, born of reality; our biological makeup, the air we breathe, our thoughts and aspirations, our animal instincts, and the knowledge that everything within the sphere of our existence, is timed in consonance with the permanence of reality, necessitating our acceptance so that we, in turn, must resign ourselves to truth and consequences from which we cannot escape.

While our mortality embraces reality, it somehow falls short of accepting it completely, the reason being that our fragility demands the counteraction of things beyond the scope of reality, based on concepts that help mitigate the harshness of certain aspects of our existence, such as those of fear, doubt and uncertainty. Since the beginning of time, the need to circumvent our weaknesses has, in many respects, intruded on certain areas of our existence, such as the unpredictability of life’s ”ups and downs,” the nature of our being, the mystery of the universe, as well as the phenomena of inexplicable occurrences of Nature that propels our thoughts and actions.

Our dreams are based on reality. The “miracle” of discoveries and inventions, could never have materalized without the conception and calculation of possibilities, the groundworks of which consist of germs of ideas that develop out of the knowledge that nothing is impossible, as long as we do not veer from the concept of reality.

The Age of Enlightenment could never have dawned on humanity without discriminating between the possible and the impossible, enriching our intellect and cementing relationships that otherwise would not have been possible in a world of diverse cultures and primitive ideals.

Clear knowledge of our strong and weak points defines us more than our names, and helps us know our place in the social and even business world. The greatest justice you can ever do to yourself is to discover, acknowledge and embrace your strengths and weaknesses.

Knowing your strengths and weaknesses isn’t as simple as pulling answers out of the air; there is a science to it. And understanding your strengths is one of the most important pieces of the happiness and success puzzle. This knowledge will make you pursue the right career, invest in the right stock, know how to manage your fat pocket book after winning that lottery and lead the right life.

Checking and acknowledging your strengths-cum- weakness equilibrium is strength in itself, as this balance will also ensure that you maintain the right self confidence. And remember, your ability to feel confident as a person is directly proportional to your beliefs at the emotional level. And the most important factor in building self-confidence is to learn to gain more control over your emotional state.

Clear knowledge of our strong and weak points defines us more than our names and titles. This clear knowledge helps us acknowledge victory with humility, and defeat with honor and dignity. It too helps us to understand that life challenges and occasional defeat do not reduce us from who we really are, they instead help us to understand ourselves better.

Walking in the knowledge of our strong and weak points does not mean you are going to be right all the time. There are going to be times you make mistakes. And admitting to these mistakes will not make us less of the persons we are; it will show the human being that we all are. Remember, no man is perfect.

Not all people who end up being the best and eventually landing a job in an interview may be better than those who will not have been successful in that same interview. They just may be smart enough to be aware and therefore bring out better their strengths, and also know, acknowledge and turn around their weak points into a positive opportunity given chance. We sometimes miss out on golden opportunities in life due to failure in acknowledging our weaknesses, and therefore failure in putting an effort to improve on them.

Make an effort to bring peace in your life rather than daily quarrels and chaos.

As they say best things in life always comes in small packets. It is unfeigned, as we should be blissfully happy about ourselves. Even in the rough phase of life, we should project our self for a better solution to it. That is why Here are three things you should ask yourself….

1. Who am i ? – basically, you all want to know this at some stage of life. try to find out a reasonable answer for it.ask yourself again and again. you will get the answer only when you are true to your own self.

2. What is my purpose for life ? – you should know your purpose for life, i.e. what are your main ethical views for an aim or purpose or objectives in your life ahead.

3. What are my strengths and weaknesses ? – As you climb ladder of success, there would be a chance to get tripped down. if you don’t walk properly. So note down what are your strengths and weaknesses. and remind yourself why are this my plus points and why am i lacking with weaknesses. Try to assess everything and make a balance out of it. so in future you are well prepared to handle any pressures.

Well as time goes by you will know more about yourself if you can figure out this main 3 questions about your life. To find happiness in your life, you should look within yourself that whether you’re happy and content with yourself or not…Take control of your life and decisions, so you never have to look back for what you lost out. mostly you have to believe yourself,if you believe in GOD then ask him why am i in trouble ?.. GOD exists, and if you have faith in yourself then probably you will know what i want to say. figure it out guys.

It’s time to bring a change,

a change that is good,

a change which brings harmony,

a change which changes you for being yourself.

Think good.Think real.

Self confidence is vital in life. A low self esteem could bring you down into self defeat and leave you secluded from this huge party called life! High self confidence allows us to pursuit our dreams, to reach for the sky, get the girl of our dreams, do our own thing and think as we please! So how do you boost your self confidence? Read on fellow readers…

Remind yourself who you are!

We as individuals all posses individual strengths and weaknesses, qualities and insecurities! No human being is exempt to this rule of nature. Learn about yourself, go on that journey of self discovery and find yourself. Find what makes you happy, and what makes you dread life. Ask yourself what your good at and what you’d like to improve. Search for that purpose in your life and the goals in life that define you as the individual. Once you discover your personal strengths which may include your appearance, intelligence, ability to care for people, communication skills, artistic talent, sporting ability, ability to handle responsibility, and an almost endless array of personal strengths and capabilities, you need to recognize and respect yourself as a person that’s special for who you are. You must take pride in yourself for the special individual you are. I constantly remind myself of my strengths, and the more I do so the more I want to build upon my strengths and work on my weaknesses and shortcomings in life. To boost your daily self confidence you could simply compliment yourself. It’s that easy really! Look in the mirror, look deeply into your own eyes, and love what you see!

Take pride in yourself.

Pride is my greatest strength. It’s the core to my personal self worth, and the shield to all that life throws at me. Nothing could penetrate my pride and nothing could come close to the respect I take in myself as an individual. Pride is the respect I take in myself, and the first step towards a code of life that I chose to live by, a life by respect, honesty and loyalty. My pride really is my shield, my mental armor, and the reason I have high self confidence. If you too, take pride in yourself, in your strengths and abilities as an individual, then you could also enjoy it as a force that will fuel your self confidence. You must first respect yourself before you could respect anybody else in life. Just as you must firstly love yourself before you could love anybody else in life. Respect yourself and you will find that it’s within your personal respect that you will find a fountain of self confidence and self love.

Think for yourself!

You are an individual. You are an intellectual individual that has a mind of your own. People want to control your mind, and introduce their rules, expectations, ideals and beliefs upon you. They do this because they know what would happen in society if people understood the full extent what individualist thought is capable of. They want to mould you to their ideal to simply control you. People will tell you that your delusional, inexperienced in life, uneducated, brainwashed, that your inadequate as a person, unqualified, stupid, egocentric, sinful, selfish, wrong and mislead if you begin to recognize the power of your individual intellect! You must think for yourself even if the whole world persecutes and abuses you for doing so. It’s when you think for yourself that you take complete control over your intellect, belief, perception and outlook in life. You become the master of your mind. Once you become the absolute master of your body, mind and soul you will discover that you’ve just accessed the mother load of self confidence! Nothing will boost your self confidence quite like taking complete control of your mind! Don’t believe in things for the sake of believing in them, never listen to media hype and take it as gospel; don’t follow your local trends just because it’s the normality in your neighborhood! Think for yourselves people, take control of your lives and find the fountain of unprecedented self confidence!

Ensure you build a descent sex life!

Are you looking for a huge confidence booster? Then look no further; sex is your answer. Going after a potential partner to share your bed with can seem a little daunting for people of low self esteem, who are overly self conscious and lacking a happy self image! But take it from a guy who grew up dealing with panic attacks, I went out of my way to pursue sexual pleasure, and the right girl more to the point, and I’ve been doing so for a good part of the last decade! You must actively go out of your way to make time for people! You must go out of your way to ensure you have what it takes to score, so to speak. Ensure you’re well groomed, humorous, approachable, happy, proud in yourself, well dressed, sexy, and willing to share at least a couple hours of your time with a fellow human being of the opposite sex. As you have sex with different people, or a steady partner you will gradually build a self confidence based upon your ability to win over girls, bed girls and please them sexually. Sex can be a huge confidence booster, and a very fun one too! There’s nothing to lose having sex, and in most cases it’s cheaper than paying for a sex worker! If you’re finding yourself to be lacking in the self confidence department, then start having more sex as you’ll feel more manly, in control and wanted!

Set yourself life goals and follow through!

The feeling we get from achieving goals and personal plans can be hugely inspiring and a huge boost to our self confidence! This may include on following through on a diet plan, exercise program, educational course, relationship, skill achievement, writing endeavor, and even a whole lifestyle overhaul! You’ll find that the satisfaction you’ll get from personal achievement will be second to none. If you put your foot down and seriously stick to a schedule, program, job and personal goal you will end up with something extra to be very proud of in your life. You will find that your gaining new skills based upon self imposed disciplines and your self confidence will soar! Dedication in life, hard work, perseverance and resilience will get you through life successfully and following through with your life goals will leave you a much happier, proud and confident person!

I really hope the five steps mentioned above will help people out there gain that little bit more self confidence for yourself! Thank you fellow readers.

Explaining the fundamental weaknesses of the two extreme economic systems; while staying as neutral as possible.

In an absolute Free Market economy, certain essential goods and services, e.g., defence, law and order, education and medical care are either not provided at all or inadequately provided by private enterprise because in most cases the profits and benefits to the company are insufficient and not worth their while. Furthermore, monopolies are a common occurrence. They dominate the industry, due to the lack of regulation, and drive small companies out, while preventing or discouraging new competitors from entering the market. The monopoly is therefore able to set prices at artificially high levels and can restrict output to raise prices. Consumers are thus exploited through high prices, poor quality goods and poor levels of service and supply. Nothing can be done about this due to the limitless, unregulated nature of a Free Market; any attempt at preventing this will often be in vane as the monopoly can be so powerful it can manipulate the government as well as the market.

In a Free Market it is commonplace for wealthy consumers to demand and afford luxury goods. The disadvantage of this is that producers will allocate resources to theses items as the profit margin is greater, but they will neglect the production of more essential items required by the larger, less wealthy social demographic. It is also a given in a Free Market for private firms to ignore social costs. These are costs passed on to the consumer and thus borne by the community as a whole. The most shocking and glaring example of social costs in this context is the cost to the community that results in industrial pollution. Industrial waste products are disposed of in rivers and in the atmosphere, which can result in massive environmental pollution and in turn damage the health of local communities – thus increasing the charges of health services and waste disposal services.

In a Free Market, underemployment of resources will exist in the industries which are declining due to a drop in demand since there will be a dramatic time lag before the resources can move into the new expanding industries. In the real world, many factors or production are both occupationally and geographically immobile. Localities with declining industries also experience massive increases in social costs in the form of rising delinquency, drug addiction, unemployment, poor health and poor housing.

Probably the worst aspect of a Free Market economy is the fact that it provides no mechanism to ensure all members of society have their basic needs satisfied when they can not afford to pay for them; e.g. food, shelter and health care.

Command Economy

In a Command Economy it is practically impossible for the governments to assess demand for each one of the host of goods and services that people want. So governments make themselves responsible for deciding what people need and what will be best suited for them. This means that consumers lose most of their freedom to choose.

In addition, this kind of system requires a rather cumbersome administrative system – hence bureaucracy, slow decisions and stagnation. Plus, salaried officials tend to be less innovative and more conservative as they lack incentive provided by the profit motive. Salaried officials in a Command Economy will lead to corruption in some form or another. The fact that these officials plan and organise every aspect of they economy means they are a great target to bribe, easy to bribe and are often exposed to bribery. They may also change or create plans that are beneficial to their own status or to that of their bribers.

There also occurs a problem of surplus in this kind of economy. It is common in a command economy for there to be a waste of labour or materials, due to bad allocation by officials. A further disadvantage is the lack of technological advancement. In a Command Economy the government will only put its resources into areas which will benefit it directly, like the military. However, in a Free Market, inventors are free to do what they like, and can profit hugely if they invent something needed.

We cannot pay for what is freely given to us. The beauty of both forgiveness and reconciliation is that they are free actions that come from the heart.

Forgiveness is ultimately a form of love, a love that accepts others as they are. It meets them with a compassion that springs from an awareness of our own weaknesses, faults and destructive tendencies.

The one who knows he has offended another must apologize, and must work through the process of repentance. This must never be allowed to become a form of “buying back” the relationship. Such a person may struggle with the desire to make some impossible act of restitution, or to be punished in some unhealthy way – as though by doing so, he or she could earn forgiveness. It may be right to make restitution for a wrong done, but restitution can never earn forgiveness. It is freely offered as an act of love, and freely accepted as an act of humility.

We cannot pay for what is freely given to us. The beauty of both forgiveness and reconciliation is that they are free actions that come from the heart. When we have wronged someone, and that person has forgiven us and has opened the door of reconciliation to us, the only thing we can do is accept it. This can be difficult indeed. Accepting unconditional love may make us more keenly aware of our own failures, or the wrongness of our own actions. Refusal to accept forgiveness and love makes reconciliation impossible. Reconciliation is based on mutual acceptance.

Reconciliation requires not only mutual forgiveness, but also mutual acceptance. Acceptance is based on:

•	Both parties being able to accept themselves.
•	Both being willing to admit their own failures.
•	Both desiring healing for the ruptured relationship.
•	Both being prepared to surrender their demand for self-justification.
•	Both being prepared to set aside their desire to punish the other.
•	Both acknowledging that it is not easy for people to receive unconditional forgiving love.

The need for acceptance coupled with the call for conformity is a lethal combination and when brought together, erupts into an explosion of individuals with no sense of who they are. If you've lost your identity, these five questions can help you find it, claim it and live it boldly.

Identity theft is a major crime in our high tech world but there’s another identity crisis that continues to claim victims every day. People, young and old are living beyond their means, dressing inappropriately, piercing and tattooing their bodies, experimenting with drugs, associating with people of questionable characters and known criminal histories and living and dying by the gun. As a society we have lost our own personal identities. Without a sense of who we are as individuals, we are doomed to be mindless followers, copycats and look-alikes.

Are you asking, “How do I find my identity, claim it and live it boldly? Your answers to the following question can start you on the road to being who you really are.

What are my core values?

Your spiritual beliefs, the people and things that really matter to you and those you can’t live without all make up your core values and they help to define who you are.

You might be able to regurgitate a mouthful of spiritual beliefs, yet they don’t impact your life in a meaningful way. They are just words, theories, pie-in-the-sky ramblings that make you acceptable in a particular group. Of course unless what you purport to believe cuts at your heart and transforms you, it is an attempt at conformity.

Core values also include the qualities you practice, expect from people around you and believe that you can’t live without. They might include honesty, faithfulness, punctuality, dependability and so on. When people show scant courtesy for these qualities and practices, you are displeased and even angered because you see them as admirable character traits.

What are my strengths?

Pinpointing your strengths is a major step to determining how you will proceed on a particular course of action.

What learned skill, natural gift or acquired talent helped you make a wise decision or accomplish a significant goal? Was it your ability to analyze a situation, assess a person or think quickly on your feet? Have you exhibited organizational skills, a keen sense of style or an eye for detail?

If your strengths served you in the past, they can serve you again. They are strengths you can be thankful for and claim as part of the structure of your identity.

Most often, it is far easier for other people to notice your strengths. What positive comments did they make? What qualities did they identify as being not only unique but an asset?

What are my weak areas?

I paraphrase part of a quote from the movie, Maid in Manhattan – What defines us is not the number of times we fall, but how often we get up after we have fallen.

What sets us apart from someone else is how willing we are to accept that we have weaknesses or we have made a mistake, how we embrace the lessons we learn and how effectively we use those lessons to help us to live lives that honor and enhance who we are.

Your weaknesses define you only as you learn from them and the lessons make you a better person. Because like everyone else, your life is a work in progress, some of your weaknesses may follow you throughout your life but they can be managed. Diligently work to turn them into strengths or stepping stones each time they cause you to fall or fail. Dig through the pain, disappointment and embarrassment for the lessons that will help you to understand who you are because of and in spite of your weaknesses.

What do I fear?

What you fear hinders you from pursuing paths you only dream of. It hovers over you like a dark foreboding cloud during a hurricane. It keeps you stuck in a cycle of hopelessness.

However, when you know and understand your fears, your can mine them for their value and inhibit their power over you. Then the fulfilled and purposeful life you long for and the dreams you crave will loom with possibilities and beckon you to approach and achieve them.

Call up your fears one by one and deal with them effectively once for all. Sometimes certain fears stubbornly linger even after you have wrestled power from them. But that’s all right. Life is not perfect. Eventually they will fade into the background as you settle into your identity, take risks, accomplish goals and your confidence grows.

What is my passion?

Sometimes it takes the discovery of an inner passion to open your eyes to the kind of person you are.

What comes to mind when you think of your passion? It may be old and hidden under the baggage of your life experiences. Or, it may be a relatively new discovery. Define it; create a vision of its reality; feel the passion. There you will see your true identity – the person with the dream and the passion to pursue it.

I admire people who are comfortable and confident in their own skins, who stand like a rock despite ridicule from others and the battering storms of life. They have scars from wounds they have suffered and no doubt, they will acquire many more. I have mine too and some sit on the surface of still tender wounds I sustained in my battle against the demands to discard my identity and lose myself in the concept of what others envisioned for me. I’m not perfect, I am me, core values intact, cognizant of my strengths, weaknesses and fears and my passions deep and strong.

Who are you? Are you drowning in the sea of sameness just to be accepted? Are you afraid to be yourself? Do you know who you are? Life is short. Claim your identity and live it boldly.
