The basic run down of SOPA and PIPA!

Let me explain some basics about two new bills being considered by our lawmakers in Washington.

First there is SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) a bill that’s in committee being considered by the House of Representatives. Then there is PIPA (PROTECT IP Act) being considered by the Senate. Both bills are intended to deal with copyright infringement and online piracy. The target is mainly software, music, and movie download and streaming sites.

The intention to stop piracy is likely a very good one. Part of the reason why these bills exist and have some support. Large corporations like the movie and music industry want these passed asap.

SOPA has been delayed in committee due to opposition to the bill from internet leaders such as Google. The bill can still be reworded and voted on in the future and thus it’s still a threat to internet freedoms.

PIPA is even more dangerous to the internet as it’s being voted on January 24th. That’s one week away. So no time can be wasted showing support to oppose this bill.

Now without going into a vast post about legalese and the wording problems with these bills I will just get right to the point.

If either bill is passed it can stifle internet freedoms by shutting down sites without due process. The government will have additional powers to seize domains that it feels violate PIPA/SOPA. It’s a shoot first and ask questions later process. We can’t have that in America. It’s not the intent of our judicial system to allow government this power. Many believe the bills violate our First Amendment freedom of speech rights. But do we want to wait till it’s passed and fight in the courts for a repeal? Or do we want to oppose this now and make sure it never gets passed in the first place.

I encourage every American citizen opposing these bills to contact their local representative in both House and Senate expressing your opposition.

Here is an excellent website to begin your research and prevent this bill.

http://americancensorship.org

What are you waiting for?

A brief descreption and aid to an MUN conference.

What is it?

MUN (Model United Nations) is a simulation of the UN (United Nations) in which student delegates meet in conferences around the world to discuss, debate, and form resolutions to various problems in the world that are happening right now. These problems are divided into different categories of debate (Committee Rooms). Every delegate in the conference is given a country to represent and participates in the committee room that he or she has chosen. In these rooms delegates will debate topics related to the room they are in. Delegates will choose which room they would like to participate in based on the topic of debate they are interested in. The object of every room in the conference is to form resolutions that solve the issues at hand. These resolutions will be debated on and then either passed or failed; more on that later. A student can also become a chair, a president, admin, or other position in a conference, but many of these positions require some experience. Essentially the goal of any MUN conference is to give students the opportunity to debate, dress, and act just like delegates of the actual United Nations. This aspect of MUN means that before participating in an MUN conference Students must prepare weeks before the conference if they are to feel comfortable and succeed in the conference.

Preparations:

Before any MUN conference a good delegate will prepare for weeks before the conference. It is of course all up to the delegate (or the delegate’s teacher) how much work will be done. In the end though, the most prepared delegate is the most successful. What is involved in preparing for a conference? Well there are many things to be done. A delegate should first research as much as they can about the country they have been given and then start to complete written work they will need for the conference (the work that is needed for a conference varies with different conferences). The basic works needed include policy statements, (statements summarizing the counties’ views on the debate) an opening speech which will inform the delegates committee room on the main points the delegate would like to focus on in the debate, and resolutions which are written by the delegate in the perspective of his or her country that attempt to resolve the issues at hand. Once all of these are completed and polished, a delegate is ready to participate in the conference.

Committee Rooms:

In all MUN conferences there are a number of committee rooms which a delegate can choose from. These include The Security Council which tackles issues having to do with the security of countries and dealing with any threats to the state of security of the world, ECOSOC (Economy/Society), which debates any issues that have an effect on the economy and/or society, Human Rights, which debates issues of human rights around the world, and the General Assembly, which debates general issues that are not specific to any other room. The Committee rooms stated above are not the only rooms in the conference but are some of the main ones. Every conference has its own unique committee rooms.

The Conference:

Every MUN conference will have a different agenda but all will include the following: an opening ceremony, time for merging resolutions, debate time, voting time, and a closing ceremony. The opening and closing ceremonies are mainly there to celebrate the conference but also to inform delegates of what will be happening in the conference and what the goals of the conference are. After opening ceremony delegates will need to go to their committee rooms at which they will do their opening speeches and meet the chairs of their committees (Chairs are the people who are in charge of the committee rooms and will control the debate). After opening speeches the chair will allow the delegates to merge resolutions (this means that delegates will meet with each other, polish resolutions, sign on to resolutions, and some will become main submitters of a resolution). After merging resolutions each delegate will be signed on to at least one resolution for each topic of debate. Main submitters of a resolution are those who wrote most of the resolution and who will be the first to speak about it. After merging, the chairs will open debate time and allow the delegates to debate one resolution at a time. In some conferences delegates will be forced to speak at least once but in others the delegate has the choice. After each resolution is debated the chair will allow delegates to vote for or against it and will then move on to the next resolution. It takes a few days to debate all the resolutions but this is the basic order of events in Committee rooms. When all resolutions have been debated the committee room will close and the delegates participate in the final event: The closing ceremony. This is always carried out in different ways so I won’t talk about it but after the closing ceremony, the conference is officially over.

My Experience and a few tips:

I have participated in some MUN conferences including one in South Africa and one in Qatar. Before my first conference I was full of worries about the conference. I was afraid I would be called on unprepared among many other things. However after my first conference I was reluctant to leave the conference. It is a great experience and there are many things to take away from it. I would recommend MUN to anyone interested in debate (it’s also great for college reumes). I feel that if a delegate is active in debate, gives many fruitful ideas, and is friendly, then that delegate has had a successful conference. If there is one tip that I think is most important it is to speak as soon as you can in the debate. If you speak early (even if you don’t think what you’re saying is great) then you won’t have to worry about being picked on by the chairs and getting caught unprepared (as I once was). Apart from that, there is nothing to worry about and in fact you will find yourself wanting to do it again. Good luck!

Explanation to why we yawn.

THE TRUTH IS that nobody completely understands why people, or even animals for that matter, yawn.

It is assumed that we yawn out of boredom or because we are tired. However, there isn’t really any evidence to suggest these beliefs.

Scientists are no where close to knowing all of the biological mechanisms attributed to the yawn, but they all usually tend to agree that yawning is an involuntary respiratory reflex, which serves to regulate the carbon-dioxide and oxygen levels in our blood.

A yawn is technically the reflex opening of the mouth which is then followed by the deep inhalation and then the slow exhalation of oxygen.

The act of yawning is but one of a large number of involuntary reflexes that are controlled by the spinal and nerve centers.

Scientists theorize that the onrush of a yawn is sparked either by exhaustion and fatigue, or by sheer boredom as, at those very times, breathing is usually flat and shallow, and little oxygen is being carried to the lungs by the cardiovascular system.

Whenever one yawns, his/her attentiveness is increased, the sudden intake of oxygen increases the pulse rate, gets rid of carbon dioxide buildup in the bloodstream, and forces the oxygen through blood vessels located in the brain, all this while restoring normal breathing as well as ventilating the lungs.

This is a quite reasonable theory about yawning, but it falls short of explaining many aspects about yawning. Scientists explain away the “contagious” nature of yawning, that is when one person’s yawn incites another person nearby to yawn, is most likely due to the power of suggestion, but scientists are at a loss when attempting to explain why it is that yawning occurs excessively in patients that have lower brain stem damage or patients with multiple sclerosis.

Other mysteries puzzling scientist’s include why individuals with substantial concentrations of oxygen in their blood streams yawn and why it is that unborn fetuses still in the womb yawn, when it’s a clearly well-known fact that fetuses do not intake oxygen into their lungs until after their birth.

Until all of the questions mentioned above are answered, you’d be best not to assume that a person who is yawning in your presence is simply bored silly with what it is that you are saying, or suffers from exhaustion. It is best to simply be pleased that he/she is not bored to death.

Its good to know your friends
Its good to know your enemies
but its even better to know yourself.

Throughout history dating back to Ancient Greece there have been people, that have asked questions, they asked themselves..

” who am I on the inside?”

” why did I do this when I should have done that?”

” Why am I so afraid of this thing I should not be afraid of?”

Some of these people wanted to find the answer to these questions. These people wanted to look at the source of the problems, and they wanted to understand it, they wanted to look inside themselves because they did not know where else to look.

Eventually these people discovered the power of the brain, and how it affected our behavior. They wanted to study the brain, to know how it worked, to know how to properly use it to create a better person. Nowadays people tend to call this psychology, so how does this thing called psychology help you, how can it improve you?

To know thyself

You might ask yourself this question ” why did I do this?” or you might ask yourself ” why did I react that way?”, some people might think that they are the only ones who ever ask that question but the truth is, people have been asking themselves those questions since the dawn of civilization and probably even before that. As I said before, some of these people have found answers to those questions, all sitting neatly in a book for you to read or study in a class. To understand what these people have found, what they have discovered is to help understand you, and once you do that, you will know a better way of dealing with some annoying emotions or get through a tough time in your life… after that.. the sky is the limit.

The better conversation

Psychologists have over time, looked at how people naturally interact with eachother, how people to talk to eachother, how people send messages to eachother. What people want to hear, and what people do not want to hear. The skills, the findings, the research that you would find in a psychology book, can make your next conversation with a stranger a rather pleasant one.

What is he thinking?

If there is some psychological technique for reading a person’s mind, then I did not hear about it, nor did I read about it. However while it is difficult to know for sure what a person is thinking, psychology can help give you a decent idea of what they are thinking. We all have things that we want, things that we don’t want, and things that push us, drive us, these are motivations that psychology can help us understand. If you know what a person wants, then you know how they might decide to get it, if you know how they will decide to get it, then you might know how to either stop them or help them get it. It does not get simpler then that. Understanding others can help us connect to others, and the ability to make these connections is vital.

A shiny degree on the office door

If nothing else, I am sure studying psychology in college is enough to get you a decent job. As sad as it is to admit, we are approaching a future where stress and anxiety levels are only going to get higher and higher, and more and more people are going to suffer for it. People are going to have problems, but as a trained psychologist and as a professional you can help them overcome their problems. You can help guide them in the right direction. In these tough economic times I have heard that alot of people have lost their jobs, but I did not hear about any psychologists losing theirs.

So what does it all come down to?

The human mind is a very powerful thing, it can a very productive thing, or it can be a very destructive thing. They are still many mysteries of the mind, and I doubt most of these mysteries will be solved before I die, but slowly and surely we are uncovering more and more about the mind. To know what drives you, to know why it drives you, is to know how to manipulate it, how to change it, and how to make it work your way. There is a type of power in that. If you do get the chance to study psychology one day, then please take the chance.

If you aren’t going to believe everything else I wrote in this article, then atleast believe this.

” studying psychology is not something you will regret”

What if questions.

What if questions are a great way to stretch the imagination, and a really good way to find new writing ideas. Here are 10 what if questions of my own.

What if…

The world really were flat?

*What would happen? Would we not have enough space to live, what with the rapidly growing population?

You were never born?

*Where would your parents be? What would your friends be like? Would you siblings be any different?

North America was never found?

*What would happen? Would we still be subject to England’s rule?

The South won the Civil War?

*Would slaves still be around today? Who do you know that would not be alive because of it?

We had time machines?

What do you think you would go back and do? Would the world be changing every second, but we just don’t remember how it used to be?
Your favorite movie/book/series character came to life?

*Would you become best friends, worst enemies, how would life be? Would it change everything in your small town?

School didn’t exist?

*How uneducated would the youth, and adults, of america be?

Pollutants didn’t exist?

*What if we(humans) had never found, or invented things that were pollutants? How different would the world be, for both industrialism and for the earth?

Christmas was in the spring?

*What is Jesus was born in the spring? Would it be any different? What would happen to spring break? No more white christmasses?

everyone had superpowers?

*in your opinion, what would happen? If everyone’s super, then nobody is.

I know it's a hassle to find what is truly the best present.

Depends on the age. The tried and true for all ages is something that has to do with their favorite sports team. If its a teenage guy or under 20, tickets to a concert or some cologne and out to eat. Older then 20 but under 40, a tool that they will utilize, anything that has to do with their vehicles, new matts, sometype of item to detail it, look around their homes and see what is missing maybe a few pictures for the walls, something to make their tv viewing more comfortable, new recliner, videos they like. I go with the easy stuff, ask them what they would like to eat for their special day, get that accomplished, whether you cook it or do take out, then present them with their item, and dont forget fishing, hunting and billiards, then send them to bed with a smile.

Answer:

1. Give him something romantic for his birthday. You could give him flowers. Yes, flowers are not only for women! If you give him those, he’ll probably never forget such day. If you intend to put on some effort, might as well cook for him. Invite him for a dinner for two.

To add up to the romantic element, have it on a picnic. Or, you could arrange for a surprise party. Invite his friends and family. Send him love notes a week before his big day. And have a surprise on the special day itself!

2. Give him something that he wants. It is always best to choose a boyfriend birthday gift idea that he is truly into. If he is into gadgets, get him something that he would truly appreciate. If he is a car aficionado, buy something that he has been longing for.

3. Give him something naughty. If you wish to tickle his wildness, give him something intimate yet an amusing gift. A glow in the dark feature of boxer shorts would do.

Have him come over to your place and let him pick out what he thinks are your sexiest clothes and try them on for him. Then let him take pictures of you in them on his cell phone as a reminder of what a great time yall had on his birthday.

4. Give him something traditional. The traditional gift idea of a gift basket is also nice. Fill it with sweets or personalized toiletries.

5. Give him something that suggests you love him. You could customize a key chain for him and have some loving message engraved therein.

This MW3 class is a beast and no one can stand a chance against it!!!

The ULTIMATE Class!!!!!

MP7

Attachments

Rapid Fire

Extended Mags

Sleight of Hand

Hardline

Stalker

Specialist Killstreak

1-Quickdraw

3-Scavenger

5-Assassin

7-All Specialist Perks

If you use this class enough then you will be getting the pros for these perks in no time.

I spent a prestige token on this gun and I don’t regret it at all!

You can have whatever you like in the specialist part of the killstreak, as long as you have Scavenger

You want to know why this is the most Ultimate class ever!!! You can take on an entire team at once and obliterate them. With the extended mag attachment, you get a ton of ammo. You get 60 bullets that you’ll be firing at a very high rate. You can get good longshots with this gun if you control your shots. This gun barely has any kick which makes the kick option useless since it won’t be doing much for you. You will easily win 1v1 close quarter encounters when turning corners (maybe even 1v2 OR 1v3 if your really good). If your going to be playing in a big map, you can switch the rapid fire for either the ACOG Scope or the Thermal Scope. I personally like the Thermal Scope the best because you can hold your breath for a more accurate shot, where the ACOG sways a lot. If your going to use the Thermal scope your going to want to exchange the Stalker perk with the Marksman perk, so in case the person your looking at has Assassin, you’ll at least be able to see his name show above him. 3 extended mags of this gun will take out an Attack Helicopter and 4 to 5 bullets will kill an enemy which is good because with the rapid fire attachment you’ll be able to get a ton of bullets into an enemy with no problem. If you want to see this gun in use and me taking out 4 players with one mag of this gun, you can check out my online vault on xbox. GT: LemDawg2

This argument is strictly coming from a man’s perspective, and it’s not meant to be offensive to any readers.

Women are living beings that we think we can comprehend however, the moment we have this fantasy of a thought, we realize that they are truly incomprehensible. This article is strictly about relationships with women; we as men, try our best to please and satisfy our partners but, it seems that we always do something to irritate them. You may be in a stable, undying relationship but, you WILL do something that you are unaware of and you will hit a dead end. They are beings incomprehensible to mankind, there are some ignorant men that say they understand their partners however, their ignorance will be their downfall. The only tip we can give to ourselves as men is to be more aware of our actions and hopefully they won’t get infuriated by us.

Debt. Money shortages... or maybe something smaller like, how come every time something irritates me, more things happen to furthermore irritate me? Well I'll explain why. I'll also explain how you can manipulate this to your advantage.

You probably here people say all the time, “Keep Positive!” or “Stay focused.” Alot of phrases relating to this have become hackneyed. It’s one of those things that you get so tired of hearing, you automatically reject it, even though you (supposedly) still believe it. But, those couple words mean alot contrary to what you may think. We live in a world were negativity is very common. Consider yourself a magnet. You’ve probably heard this of this metaphor before. In real life, magnets attract to their opposite and repel against their like but in this metaphor, pretend that the only thing magnets do is attract to their alike. So you’re thinking about something you hate terribly. Spinach, perhaps. And you’re just sitting their focusing attentively about your hatred towards spinach. So your spouse goes out to buy dinner and guess what, all he comes back with is a can of spinach. He/she explains that he/she left his/her wallet/purse at the house, and the only thing on he/she could buy with his/her pocket change was some spinach that was on sale. This example may appear as if it’s ridiculously stupid, but it explains the concept that “energy flows were attention goes.”

Everything in life is connected. It is connected because we are all made of energy, animate, and inanimate objects. Therefore, we have the ability to change the things around us. When we think of something, in simpler terms, you are wishing to the Universe (God). And when you put that wish out, the Universe will change itself to fulfill your wish. If you put that wish out many, many times, and focus on it passionately, you’ll receive what you want even faster! Well you could argue with, “wellll….. one time, I was sitting there hoping that my mom wouldn’t serve spinach, and she did!” Well there’s two things you could have overlooked. One, the Universe doesn’t respond to “don’t” the Universe only knows action. You may think, “well what, is it stupid?” No. All it is, is obeying your wish, and your focusing on spinach, so you ultimately get… spinach! The other thing is, you can think about something you want, like an iPhone, but the energy is created from the feeling, not so much the thought of that iPhone. Feeling it would be pretending you had it, or feeling the feelings you would feel if you were to have that iPhone handed to you. That would be right. But thinking about it would be holding a picture in your mind that you saw off of Google Images. That would be wrong. It’s generating energy, and yes you are focusing on it, but it’s not enough energy to tell the Universe it’s that that you want.

One thing you want to avoid is negativity. EVERYONE once in a while has a problem with being upset, or irritated, but that’s only human nature. But always being mad and grouchy is terribly terrible. Even though your not focusing on any one thing, you’re feeling the feeling of anger or sadness. Like mentioned earlier, the feeling is what counts in order to send out your wish, and if your angry, and you wish that out, the Universe will send more anger back at you. If your in a terribly bad mood, the Universe is not going to reply with a suggestion saying “Are you sure you want to wish for: more anger?” and have two buttons label “Yes or No” The Universe is going to obey you. Just like a king. You can wish for anything you want, and your servant will not question you. Avoid wishing for more negativity (unless you have some sort of illness you can’t control were you have the urge to think of murdering the human race and starting a government with bananas and toothpicks) Try relaxing and thinking relaxing thoughts. Sleep, eat, walk, run, exercise, computer-ise, anything that makes you truly happy, by all means do that thing! It will put you in a good mood, and you’ll be putting out that wish for more things to elevate your mood!

One thing people mistakenly do when trying to think positive is say, “I’m going to get that phone soon” THIS IS WRONG! Refrain from keep your wishes in future tense, because if you do, it will always stay in the future and you’ll never have it! If you say “I have that phone.” or “That phone is mines.” “The phone belongs to me.” Things like that. Say it in present tense. Pretend that when you walk down the street, you feel your pocket vibrate and pull out your snazzy, new Motorola DynaTac. But you can also wish for things that are not physical. You can wish that your fever goes away. Just feel as if you were perfectly healthy. Instead of staying in bed all day feeling like a piece of crap, you can walk around the house. Not necessarily aimlessly, but you can jump around, etc. Just feel healthy.

I love to help, and a lot of other people also. But sometimes when people try to help, the only thing they do is hurt. They may not be aware of the fact that they’re focusing on the problem, which is pointless. All your doing is creating more of the problem. Focus on the solution. Focus on the output of the problem. This will solve the problem that’s going on and all of the focus will be off the problem, so there’s no energy for the problem to exist. That is were people mess up a lot. That’s why people say, “I tried to help but things just got worse!” Well now you know why! And know you know what to do instead. Martin Luther King Jr. knew that. He never bought large pieces of paper and colorful markers and made signs saying “End Segregation!” He preached about everybody acting as one (which we should do.) That was smart. And look at the impact he had on the world and the how he changed how segregation was viewed. He was just an ordinary person. He was no God or anything. All he was was a person with knowledge. He understood how the game was played. And I hope this article has taught you, how to play the game.
