At last some definitive answers to the perplexing question of what is it that attracts men to women.

Wilma Proops, the Agony Aunt who holds that many a true word is spoken in jest, has been carrying out the research upon which this article is based, for the past five years. She has interviewed men across the age ranges but mostly men who are domesile in the USA or the UK. Wilma does intend to rectify the shortcoming re the geographic spread of respondents but warns that this might take a few years. In the meantime here is what attracts men in the USA and UK to women.

Body Shape

Yes, body shape is the thing which first attracts men to women. However there is not one body shape which attracts men to women. However, men are less attracted to model like women particularly those who have bones showing through. There is no one body shape that does better in attracting men overall. Therefore, whatever body shape you are there will be a man who attracted to your type. Also interesting is that some men are attracted to several body shapes.

A Pretty Face

Wilma showed various pictures of faces to men when she investigated the pretty faces which was most likely to attract them. Interestingly there was no one face shape, nose or lips shape or eye colour which attracted men. Skin colour was not important either. What was important was symmetry.

Personality

No matter how close to their ideal body and face a woman is, she will not attract men if she is not of an acceptable personality type. Men are attracted to women who are intelligent and fun to be with in. They do not find jealousy attractive.

Don’t Knows

Quite a few men that Wilma spoke to did not know what it was that attracted them to women. When talking to this group Wilma asked for details of their last previous partners. When she did this she was amazed just how different each of their girlfriends were compared to the one before. The attraction factor here was apparently chemical.

The new website Sutton Coldfield News is supporting their local firemen who are washing cars for charity this Saturday. Their chief roving reporter (Wilma Proops) has flown in from Hollywood to take seven of her friends cars to be washed. Find out why in this article...

Wilma Proops, the chief reporter for the new Sutton Coldfield News website is always home in the Royal Borough of Sutton Coldfield for the third Saturday in June. This is no coincidence as the firemen of Sutton Coldfield – based in Lichfield Road (opposite the college and next to the police station and magistrates’ court) put on their charity car washing event on the third Saturday of every June.

Image via Wikipedia This is the police station attached to the magistrates’ court as mentioned in the article. The Fire Station next door, a little further up the road. This is the venue for the Charity Car Wash held at the Fire Station every year – get your car washed by firemen – all proceeds go to charity.

Wilma Proops will be supporting the firemen and having the cars of seven friends washed for them. If her friends can’t drive themselves, Wilma will drive to the charity car wash and return the cars clean and gleaming. Wilma also pays! Why does this happen every year? Find out more about Wilma Proops on the new Sutton Coldfield News website

Wilma Proops, Agony Aunt to the Stars, takes it upon herself to tell men about the importance of male grooming, back and crack and other procedures.

I have met the issue of male grooming head on – someone had to – and my awareness campaign, funded by Dick Pringle – the millionaire, new chef on the celebrity block – has reached many men who would otherwise be unaware of the importance of male grooming. The campaign cost £1million GBP but, as Dick remarked at the campaign debrief

“If only one man has become a groomer – it’ll be money well spent”

So, if you are an ungroomed male, why should you start grooming? The answer is simple – grooming will increase your attractiveness mark ten-fold. Typically a man who doesn’t groom scores a mark of 20-25. The same man groomed scores 200-250. What more proof is needed of the importance of male grooming?

Being well groomed requires:

Being clean, taking showers daily, ensuring one’s teeth are brushed, flossed and our breath is fresh. Hair should be washed and conditioned and trimmed every other week. Manicures and pedicures should be had weekly. Eyebrows should not be too bushy (consult with a stylist about the best way for you to wear them). In the case of overly hairy men, a “back and crack” wax every month is definitely called for.

90% of people who have tattoos regret doing in the future; 5% regret having a tattoo immediately. over 60% of people find tattoos unattractive. At last the truth about tattoos. This should be read by anyone considering having their first tattoo.

Amphibian Man

I went swimming one day at a public baths. A most striking man sat on the side. “Striking” because his entire body, apart from his head, was covered in tattoos. So apart from his face, hair, rather understated trunks (a neutral beige I seem to remember) and perhaps the soles of his feet, all else was a multitude of colour. Red, blue, yellow but mainly green. “He looks rather like and amphibian” I thought to myself while realising I was gawping rather rudely. My realisation dawned too late, his eyes fixed on my stare and, somewhat aggressively, he asked:

“What are you looking at?”

I answered in all honesty “What do you think?”

He must have known I was looking at him. Mustn’t he?

Spider Man

Face tattoos are just as disturbing as the full body tattoo. I once chanced upon a man who had chosen to have a classic spider’s web (albeit in red) tattooed upon his face with his nose acting as the web’s central emanation point. The sight was somehow quite terrifying but I don’t fully understand why. He wasn’t acting in a frightening manner, he merely walked towards me as we made our separate ways to different platforms at a railway station. I think the sight communicated with some primeval sense and the resultant quick beat of my heart told me “watch him, he could be dangerous”. Since then the only people with facial tattoos I’ve noticed have most definitely been dangerous.

Anyman

The examples above might be extreme but I believe all tattoos are abominations. Here are some frank truths about tattoos.

There is no such thing as a sophisticated tattoo. They all look nasty and cheap and with time, as they fade, even nastier and even cheaper. The cheapest and nastiest tattoos are those whose canvasses were originally firm taut skins but now are faded, drooped and wrinkled.

Sad tattoos include names. Some people have their owner’s name etched into their flesh to denote their property status. Sadder tattoos try to rectify this – after the property is no longer required – by re-tattooing over the name.

The funniest tattoo I ever saw was on a young woman’s lower back and depicted a leaping dolphin. For all the world, it looked like the dolphin had just leapt out of her knickers. Totally ridiculous.

Over 90% of people with tattoos regret having them sometime in the future. 5% regret having them immediately. More than 60% find tattoos unattractive.

Being tattooed is painful but having them removed is even more so. Tattoos can be expensive but having them removed is even more so.

I think the origin of the word “tattoo” is onomatopoeic from Tahiti. The rat-tat-tat-tat of hammer on pin on skin. But is this enough reason to add one to yourself and become part of the modern rash of tattoos? I think not.

If you are currently deciding whether to tattoo or not, ask yourself the following questions:

1) What will my tattoo look like in twenty years time? 2) Will I be able to stop at just one or will I end up like Amphibian Man? 3) Will, even the sophisticated tattoo I am planning, be someone’s idea of a joke?

Your answers should be: 1) Nasty and cheap. 2) You never know, maybe. 3) quite possibly. Hopefully you’ll decide against. Please pass this article to anyone you know who might be considering tattoos.

If you're not careful you can spoil a new relationship if you use text communication incorrectly. These ten rules (plus some bonus knowledge) allow you to make the most of new relationships and to enjoy text.

If you text incorrectly you could blow a new relationship by appearing too cold, too eager or too stupid. You need to get the balance just right, limit the ambiguities and leave something to the imagination. Don’t be boring or depressing. Try not to brag but try to show interest and inject the right amount of humour. Whatever you do avoid the “warts and all” approach to texting and if possible remain mysterious. For a bonus tip you’ll have to read through all TEN RULES of having good text!

FIRST RULE: How to make sure you don’t appear too cold.

Make sure you reply to the text within two hours of its receipt.. If it takes longer than 2 hours, make sure you include a reason for the delay in responding. Of course, should you wish to appear cold respond the following week or not at all.

SECOND RULE: How to make sure you don’t appear too eager.

Apply the half hour rule. This rule dictates that you don’t reply before 35 minutes have elapsed. Of course this rule can be suspended once the relationship is getting somewhere – indeed to have satisfying text (if appropriate) you should have some texts prepared to shoot off as soon as you can,

THIRD RULE: How to avoid looking stupid.

Remember that texts can be stored and read time and time again so any mistake will be noticed, if not immediately, at some point in the future. Unles you are both teenagers, avoid text speak such as m8 (instead of mate) and l8 (instead lf late). Stay away from throw away clichés such as LOL and never use the term PML because you’ll look stupid AND very crude. To really impress include in your text a word which most people spell incorrectly, such as government or environment. Use there, their and they’re in the right context

FOURTH RULE: Don’t be boring.

Sometimes it is better to stay quiet that to text (or talk) and bore someone. Ask yourself, would you like to receive a text that lists the processes involved in cooking a breakfast? Look at the following examples and decide which is least boring

“First of all I ensured the hob was clean and selected the correct frying pan, saucepan and cooking utensils. Then I went to the fridge an removed the eggs and butter. I got the beans from the pantry . . .”

“I enjoyed every mouthful of my delicious breakfast”

If you think A was less boring you really must reassess your behavior. Short and sweet is always better than long and pedantic (when it comes to texting).

FIFTH RULE: Don’t depress your text’s recipient

If you’ve just met and exchanged numbers with someone the last thing they want to hear is that you are depressed, lonely, penniless or without any prospects. If you are any of the aforementioned try and hide it from your would be partner until they have fallen for you. Do not reveal any of these secrets until you have formed a strong relationship and if the relationship never gets to this point – never reveal them. You’ll regret it if you do

SIXTH RULE: Don’t brag.

Remember, nobody likes a big head. If you’re actually very rich, very good looking, very clever or you have excellent prospects DO NOT tell your would be partner about these in a text or on the telephone for that matter. The only way to show someone that you are any or all of the aforementioned is by example. Chances are if you state these things in a text, you’ll appear untruthful.

SEVENTH RULE: Be interested in your text’s recipient

Ask a question about them, their career, their opinion or (if appropriate) their family. Texts that include the words my and mine more than you, your can come across as self obsessed. Texts without questions and purely statement paint a picture of someone a tad arrogant (and that’s an understatement!).

EIGHTH RULE: Try for some humour.

By all means do include a short joke but don’t go off on a surreal path and make it all joke. Too much humour at this stage night present as “bunny boiler”. Keep it jocular but until you know someone well leave the mind games texts until later.

NINTH RULE: Avoid warts and all

Eventually should your new relationship blossom into anything lasting and mutually fulfilling you will know everything about one another “warts and all” as they say. By this I mean both parties guilty secrets from the past and opinions that are difficult to accept. Whatever you do never list these in a get it off your chest text. I know one man who always does this and then wonders why he get stood up by his text recipients – you’ve got to laugh but it’s sad really, when you think.

TENTH RULE: Remain mysterious

Be enigmatic. A picture can say more than a thousand words or fifty texts sent one after another. Send pictures that you think your recipient will keep. If you succeed in doing this your recipient will think of you every time they look at it. By pictures I don’t mean ones of you in a compromising position or of you without full apparel. I’m thinking more of beautiful landscapes, animals or anything you think appeals to your new love interest. Examples include trains (if he’s a train spotter), celebrities eating if (she’s a celebophile) or plates of delicious food (if s/he is a foody). If it’s true that a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, wait until you know what his favourite food is, cook it or acquire it using other methods (get you Mom to cook it or buy an example) and send him a picture of that.

BONUS RULE: If you want to get anyone’s complete attention time your texts to arrive just before their lunchtime. I haven’t the time to explain why this should be the case but believe me this is BONUS knowledge.

Some notes on Love and Relationships relating to Venus positions. Discover the pros and cons of all positions and some advice on how to use them for personal benefit. Co-written by Wilma Proops.

If you want some Astrological advice on dealing with your man check out AstrologyMen also known as Help with Men!

I’m writing this with the permission of my client of five years who I am using for the following case study. The article also looks at Venus in all natal charts. Venus is very much to do with love and sex so I’ve always enjoyed gathering information about natives relevant to this position – I do enjoy discussing people’s scandals!

The position of Venus speaks about how we love – emotionally, physically, mentally and practically. Venus rules Taurus and Libra and this position can be a blessing . . . eventually, if the natives learn its lesson. The problem is these people, particularly the child in love (Venus in Taurus), have so much love to give – emotionally, physically, mentally and practically that some people (usually men in my experience) take savage advantage of it. This position is therefore associated with men and women who become “doormat partners” – the one’s that do everything – cook, clean, parent, earn, build, organise, etceteras – for no reward or any appreciation. In addition to this lack of reward and appreciation these natives (my studies have revealed) are often victims of domestic violence.

Take heart if you have Venus in Taurus. Once you learn your lesson and leave it behind or see the problem before it happens, you will have the knowledge of how to love – emotionally, physically, mentally and practically – including how to love yourself. You will be able to channel this knowledge into a really worthwhile life. Witness my client of five years.

Venus in Taurus natives understand and enjoy deep emotional love. For them it is never fleeting and can be sustained throughout a lifetime. They feel emotional love in waves when they recall all those who they love. How do they do this? It seems they have places somewhere in their hearts or minds, dedicated to all those they love. Their parents, children and siblings; friends, colleagues, associates, all have their place and none is ever neglected. They soon realise (unless something else in their chart conflicts this) that love is the way they care for people and treat them with respect. They have a practical approach to loving too. This can be anything from helping their children with homework to always being polite and appreciative of their bus driver – pleases and thank yous are sincere and never forgotten. They really enjoy sex with a monogamous long term partner – in bed they probably enjoy giving more than receiving.

Venus is the most beautiful planet in the sky in my opinion. My client’s eyes lit up when she recalled reciting “Twinkle, twinkle little star . . .” to the glittering night’s skyscape when she was a child. Seeing such joy is a wonderful perk in my job, particularly seeing it where once events and circumstances had conspired to banish it – but I digress. Below I have listed some key words and phrases I have come to associate with each Venus position from Aries to Pisces. I hope they will be of help to you in analysing yourself and others.

Please note: It is possible to find your Venus position, and that of your friends and associates, on most good astrology websites.

Venus in Aries

The energetic lover! I’d think the character Casanova has this position. Whether the native will be able to cope with this position is dependent on other elements of the natal chart. Sometimes they actually become bored of sex – no matter its quality. These natives need to learn to respect themselves and their sexual partners or it ca be problematic for them and many around them. If they do this they are equipped well to succeed in relationships. They actually enjoy being monogamous. If both partners shared the same Venus this would be an excellent basis for a long term, rewarding marriage.

Venus in Taurus

See my article above. Loyal, trustworthy, joyous, understanding, never neglectful of all the people they love. Capable of giving the best sex in the Milky Way!

Venus in Gemini

Love, hate relationships. These natives need to learn how not to take it out on the people they love, yet stay perfectly courteous to those they don’t even know. I’d say this position bestows beautiful faces and – if nothing conflicts in the chart which leads to overeating or under exercise – beautiful bodies too.

Venus in Cancer

Tearful lovers. You’ll notice they cry more often and more in depth at slushy, sad movies and will feel the need for such entertainment more often than other Venus positions. They really enjoy emotional love and it is great when they find a partner appreciative of their deep felt emotional love. In sex they tend to be passive and need their partner to make the first move. I’d say this position could either work really well or not take off at all in matters relating to relationships. For instance, this position with a partner with Aquarius Sun could be brilliant but it would be very unlikely.

Venus in Leo

The bedroom exhibitionist. If conflicted this could be the position of the mooners – i.e. people who like to expose themselves in public. I knew one who had taught himself to drive his automatic car with his bare arse exposed from the driver’s window. Be careful with this – “it’s not clever and it’s not funny” as they say. Obviously this can work very well for Taurus, Capricorn or Pisces Sun sign partners of this native who usually have strong visual needs and can have an unfortunate overwhelming desire for pornography. I think that most porn stars end up with problems in their lives due to their past activity – all accept this Venus position that is who could have problems in later life with an opportunity missed (as they see it).

Venus in Virgo

Everything a place and everything in its place best describes this Venus position. They will not appreciate any show of love in public. This person would never end up having sex on a park bench so that could be reassuring to some of my readers. I imagine that high achieving executive couples share this position. On Sunday mornings – their scheduled lie in day – they have breakfast in bed, listen to The Archers and then have their main sexual happening for the week during Dessert Island Discs. They will not thank you for interrupting their “window of opportunity” by ringing between 11:15 and 12:30 – they’re always finished by Just A Minute. It works very well for them.

Venus in Libra

Bingo! Venus Rules! Without taking countless lovers during the course of this research I can’t say for sure, but I have been led to believe that this is the best position for the enjoyment of all types of love and relationships. I’ve come to believe that this advantage stems from the intellectual approach of this native to all matters of the heart. They won’t be as warm as Venus in Taurus natives but they’ll be far more in control of their destiny and will never suffer fools.

Venus in Scorpio

Naughty and exciting on one hand but loyal and determined on the other. Overall good but problems could arise after the initial wooing and winning. They can be neglectful and even pursue extra marital affairs. Normally, I’d bet, the affair is never actually started – it’s more in their mind – and they will become depressed at the thought of their disloyalty. Once over this they become dependable partners and wonderful parents.

Venus in Sagittarius

Completely wild at some point in their lives. They discover sex and really go for it. This can be damaging in the wrong environment – it’s the sort of thing that rich kids can cope with but most will have problems with. This is all down to the perspective of these natives and unfortunately I don’t have sufficient research about it. (Please add a comment if this is you). It seems they end up doing some kind of penance and staying with a partner who loves them but they cannot return this feeling. Instead they turn to other means to work their penance out.

Venus in Capricorn

These are the natives who discover sex in their 40s. They can’t see what all the fuss is about up until then. I’ve seen this so often and it always cheers me up. Those marriages that seem somehow reborn, those women that improve with age, those people for whom life begins (forgive the clichés) are most likely to have this position.

Venus in Aquarius

Marry early, divorce. Marry again before 30 divorce. Marry in their 40s and sometimes divorce. This position would greatly benefit the polygamist male. They are more likely to end up single but that’s because they never learn to share. This is a shame because when they do they can have wonderful worthwhile lives full of fun and laughter. They have a problem though and this is they are afraid of people who tell them that they love them. It’s like they have a script programmed and unless their ideal partner can find it and rip it up – I don’t know how – they’ll have to find another.

Venus in Pisces

Frantic to find the one and only. This can be a sad Venus position. They seem destined to find true love and lose it through tragedy unless they realise a few things, which considering the lives they have, you’d think they would. Any planets in Pisces need to be worked out – I’m still debating why – but I see this all the time. These natives need to remember all physical life is temporary as soon as possible so they can address their belief systems and start celebrating the temporary nature of physical life. Anything Pisces needs spirituality in my experience. Another thing to remember is that tears can isolate them. I’ll be frank, people often find them tearful embarrassing, hard work or both. What is natural, particularly for those with Pisces Sun, Moon or Venus is difficult for those without these positions to understand or even relate to. Saying that, natives with this position sorted are sensitive, empathetic and good at seeing outcomes. They make the best friends for all of us.
