A very happy new year

Hello friends, another end of the year is here again, on the other hand, this is beginning of a new era. I do remember the end of the year 2010; I was here with you and enjoying the same. This year is almost gone now and shall be, forgotten soon. Oh, that is so natural, we never remember the goners, but some things and people do not fall in that category. They always remain with you.

I am so sad when I do not see some of my good friends around, I know they are active and doing fine, but not with us on this site. I think this place does not make them feel comfortable here and they find some other places more attractive. I too thought the same for some time and was away, this site is so addictive that I could not resist but come back to enjoy your company.

As I see some of the friends doing well here and enjoying, I miss them all the more who were here and we were having all the fun. However, let us look forward and to the positive part of the story as this is natural, some go and some others join.

We can see some wonderful people have come and joined us, I am sure they will give us a good company and will try to fill the place.

In the last, I wish you all my best wishes for the year 2012.

May the blessings of God be, showered on you and your loved ones.

Now I do want to mention that while Karen is a Christian, I am not, while Karen celebrates Christmas as the birth of Jesus, I do not. I do not celebrate Christmas for the same reason as Karen but this does not mean that I have to be cruel to her and insult her reasons for celebrating. And before you ask… I do celebrate “Christmas” with the same traditions that predate Christianity – the tree, the gifts, and so forth, I just do not associate it with the birth of Jesus.  If somebody wishes me a Merry Christmas, I thank them, why would I mad or insulted?

But not too many years ago I was yelled at while working in a retail store, I said “Happy Holidays” to a lady customer and she freaked out, you would have thought I charged her too much for her purchases. What is so wrong with saying Happy Holidays? It’s not like I said “Happy Saturnalia“* or called her ugly.

Just because a person is not the same religion as you should not be any reason you cannot send them greetings?

Why cant we wish happy Diwali to East Indians and others that celebrate it? I did earlier this year after eating at an East Indian restaurant. I also wished Eid Mubarak to my internet Muslim friends earlier this year – and why not? I would wish people happy Kwanzaa too if I knew anyone that celebrated it.

Just because we do not share the same religion does not mean we should be so ignorant to bash somebody for offering us good wishes.

I still wonder why that lady was so cruel to me on that day when all I did was wish her happy holidays? Perhaps she is happier off being miserable.

*Saturnalia is one of the ancient December 25 holidays that predated Christianity, in which trees were decorated, gifts were exchanged, and the ancient pagans welcomed back the return to the sun in the sky, and celebrated the virgin birth of the sun God.

Why do people always smile when they get a terribly drawn photo from a child? It’s because it’s filled with sentimental value and general intent to please the reciever. Sam’s Point Of View

I remember even as child, I came across some very old books that belonged to my dad, about Royals, I was totally fascinated. A dreamer from the beginning, I was spellbound, those beautiful pictures, even the black and white ones, those jewels, the gold, the Tiaras, and Royal Crowns, scepters, the palaces, their beautiful furnishings. It was awesome.

                       And then I watched a postcard album that had belonged to my grandma. Those pictures have never stopped fascinating me. (I’ve even uploaded some of them here, not as clear as I would have liked them to come). 

How I longed to be a royal. I wonder if that’s how most little girls feel.

All those Pictures of the Queeen mother, the coronation, the two princesses growing up. It was simply facinating. I must have watched those pictures over and over a million times at least!

 Queen Elizebeth was no doubt very beautiful….

 But Princess Margaret was the one I really liked! 

I thought she along with Princesss Alexandra of Kent was one of the most beautiful of Royals I’d ever seen.                                                        

And then as I was growing, the royal wedding. The wedding of all weddings!

Wow, I’d never seen anything like it, I remember feasting my eyes on every magazine, any book I saw, that had pictures of the new princess Di, the wedding photographs, the ones of William and Harry, the tours, the dresses.  

I still enjoy watching them. One would think, after all those years of watching them over and over again I’d have had my fill of them, but no, not me, the look of Princess Diana, in those beautiful gowns always seems to take my breath away, especially those pictures of her, taken during those first ten years or so of her marriage to the Prince Charles. 

Yes I know, many won’t agree with me, but truly, that’s the way I feel I only enjoyed her pictures during those first years after her wedding, I’m not sure what it was, the innocent look, the hair….. I think it was the hair; I didn’t enjoy her pictures too much after she cut them shorter. I guess she seemed more feminine to me with the longer look. Too short, well that sort of looks masculine to me.

Anyway, back to the main topic. During that first decade or so after Diana’s marriage, I was fully engrossed in the royals, seeking their pictures, putting them up in my room, talking about them all the time.

Prince Andrew got married during those years too, and then I had an added interest in the royals, Sarah Ferguson, wow, some wedding that was. Andrew and Sarah, her dress was simply gorgeous, both looked so happy together, the easy going, friendly attitude, the fun. Yes that is one wedding I can never forget, I thought it was lovely absolutely perfect.I truly believe there was no other royal wedding like that till Prince Albert’s this year with Charlene.

But then, all the scandals and everything, not to mention the ones already going on about Prince Charles and Diana. I didn’t want to believe in any of those, so I never bothered to read about them. I only wanted to enjoy the beautiful pictures and my own little dream world where I would be princess some day, just like the Princess I had most admired, ever!

It was for agood friend of mine that has been around to help with everything. Our relationship started out rough and almost not there, but we made it through. I truly thank her for all the things she’s done for my. Happy eightteenth birthday chick. hoping it’s filled with laughter and cheer. Along with lots of cake and water slides!

I have few things that I would wish for. To wish means to expect something wonderful to occur from nothing, out of the blue. I believe that the things I need can be obtained through work and will. But there are things that I would like to happen that are outside of my realm of influence. War, There is no reason for it. There are always ways to prevent war. We have the means and the strength to avoid war and bring about peaceful solutions to disputes. Wars are fought to gain power and material wealth. We need none of those. My wish: To rid humankind of the horror of war and be replaced by equal justice once and for all.

Love, Sounds rather sappy, but there isn’t enough of it, especially between strangers. We have great love of family, friends, even neighbors but we have no love lost for strangers. Those who are different, those who don’t quite fit in with the normal world are not as easy to care about. It is easy to dismiss the lives of Iraq’s and Palestinians, Bosnians or Afghanis when we have no love for them or their culture. To love an adversary is the hardest love to maintain, and the most rewarding. Of course, there are those people who prove to us that they deserve no love like terrorists and evil emperors but those unfortunate folks held captive by them do. If we truly loved our neighbor like the man said 2000 years ago, conflicts would have ended way back then. To show love is to be human, completely human. My wish: To welcome love into places it was asked to leave many years ago

Divine,The Creator is all about us. It is the air, the light, the Earth, Catholic and Jew, American and Iraqi. No one group or religion has a monopoly on the Ways of the Creator. No human mind can come close to comprehending the scope of the Creative Force that set loose the Big Bang. The “My way or the Highway” approach to personal faith is as ludicrous as it is dangerous. The Creator speaks to each of us in the way best for us to understand it. My Spirit thrives on things that I find interesting, not things force-fed to me by others. I do find comfort in communing with those who are of a like mind, but our differences are what make the group come alive. To allow others to realize this fact is my wish.

You know I am there and you just play it off like it is some big secret

Huh…

1. It leads you to your LIFE-TIME GOAL. That means it helps you settle on what you want to do in the future. Remember this: We have dreams & wishes because of what we wanted to do. We also have them because of the desire of making our lives better.
2. It makes you STRONGER. Why? If we have hope that our dreams and wishes will come true, it makes us do things step by step to achieve it. So if you fall, always to remember to get up. That;s because if you already sold your hope it’s kind of a “spiritual suicide”. Whatever you encounter that makes your dream impossible…BELIEVE in yourself, in miracles that are yet to come. One more thing to remember: There is no short-cut in life.
3. Basically it will help by BELIEVE you can do things BETTER. It’s not bad actually…it helps you think good ideas for the benefit of the community. But beware of hubris-deadly pride. Don’t let that in to you. Remember it is for the benefit of the community not for greed.

• Real life: Despair makes you do something you don’t want. It just uses the bait.
