Obama presented the award posthumously to relatives of three of the winners: Juliette Gordon Low (1860-1927), founder of the "Girl Scouts", Jan Karski (1914-2000), an American of Polish origin who fought the Nazis World War II, and Gordon Hirabayashi (1918-2012), American sociologist who led the resistance to the transfer of Japanese Americans to internment camps during World War II. President Barack Obama has angered the Polish government after he referred to a World War II concentration camp as a " Polish death camp " during an East Room ceremony honoring 13Medal of Freedom recipients on May 29, 2012. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk issued a statement on Wednesday, calling the President’s words "ignorance"and a "distortion of history."

This book deals in detail with World War II and how the Allies pulled off a victory when it seemed that the Axis powers might just prevail. A very interesting novel, easy read, and extremely informative. It brings about a new perspective of World War II at realizing the closeness of Defeat verses Victory.

While going through an old wooden box of my Fathers I was amazed to find an old wartime food ration book and various government correspondence, issued to all households in England, during World War II. I had never seen these before but they caught my attention and left me amazed, I hope they do the same for you so let’s see how they coped.
