According to ISLAMABAD: Pakistan loses a whopping Rs3,100 billion annually, which if secured, could change the destiny of the country and its hard-pressed people, an international banker and economist says.

Dr Shahid Hasan Siddiqui, chairman and chief executive of Research Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, Karachi, says Pakistan loses Rs1,200 annually because of corruption and another Rs1,900 billion because of tax evasion and non-imposition of taxes by the federal and provincial governments.

He said that the country’s economy is badly hurt by corruption, tax evasion, non-imposition of taxes on the rich and powerful, large size of black economy, lack of political will to unearth assets of billions of rupees acquired from concealed income though details of these assets are available in the government record, including bank deposits, amount invested in National Saving Schemes, shares and stock exchange, real estate and vehicles, etc.

He said that details of these assets are available in the records of banks, government departments and housing authorities, etc. and if compared with the income tax returns, would generate revenue of a few hundred billion rupees in a short span of time. “This would also go a long way in the documentation of the economy,” he said adding that this would also enable the government to reduce the rate of reformed GST to five percent from the existing 16 percent and abolish all sorts of surcharges and petroleum levies for the benefit of the people.

Such a step, he said, would bring immediate relief to the common man and would help reduce inflation to a single digit. The petrol prices, he said, would come down by Rs15 per litre and this would have a positive effect on the lives of the ordinary souls.

Explaining the details of his assessments, he said that according to Transparency International and World Bank, 40 percent of the development budget of the country was misappropriated or corrupted i.e. Rs280 billion out of the total Rs700 billion development expenditure.

In addition, he said corruption and misappropriation from government procurements also cost the exchequer a few hundred billion rupees more besides Rs300 billion loss due to corruption in the public sector enterprises.

He lamented that only 1.8 million out of 180 million population pay income tax whereas there are innumerable corporate concerns that earn millions but declare income of mere Rs100,000. He said the export sector hardly contributes to the income tax revenues whereas the agriculture sector, whose share in the GDP is about Rs3,620 billion, pays hardly a few billions as tax.

Siddiqui added that stock exchange’s market capitalisation is Rs3,600 billion but has been taxed only last year and that too half-heartedly. Referring to the 2007 economic survey, he said that the official estimates disclosed that since there was no gain tax on stock exchange, so the country lost Rs112 billion in one year. “Now it has been imposed but half-heartedly to generate a couple of billion rupees only.”

He added that Pakistan’s powerful cement, sugar and textile sectors hardly pay any income tax whereas properties and bank deposits are mostly not declared and thus no income tax is given. He added that GST is paid by ordinary people but it is not fully deposited with the FBR.

Similarly, he said, professionals like engineers, doctors, lawyers and architects don’t pay income tax on most of their income. He added that the tax-to-GDP ratio in Pakistan is 9.5%, which is the lowest in the region. In the regional countries, this ratio is between 14-18 percent. “If we improve our tax ratio to 16 percent, it would mean generating additional taxes of Rs1,400 billion annually,” Siddiqui said.

He also talked of fictitious exports and imports, which he said are about 25% of the total exports and imports. Quoting official figures, he said the total rise in exports recorded by the State Bank during the period 2002 to 2007 was $7.8 billion, out of which $5.5 bn was fictitious

A secret to success.

Begin

Image via Wikipedia | If You Have Always Wanted to be Here then This is the Perfect Time – Now!

Everyone wants to succeed. We all want to make a difference and be respected in our careers. But how come some truly shine while others fall by the wayside. What is the silver bullet to career success? Well it could be that you have simply been making a living not a life.

A Living vs A Life

“Life is what happens when we are not making plans,” is a great aphorism in this instance. We think that our daily plans are what we are. Many of us strive to plan a future for themselves and struggle to make a living. Many get frustrated when they see friends careers skyrocket whilst they seem to languish. One good reason could be you have been looking in the wrong place.

Change Your View About Your Life and Blossom

When you look at successful people they seem to have it all with little effort. They work as hard as anyone and that work pays off in a million ways. What is the trick?

1. People who succeed make their live exactly what they want it to be. They say, “I want to be a successful poet.” And they succeed making lots of money from their work. Everyone may doubt them. “Poets never get paid,” or, “That’s impossible.” Yet, surprisingly, there are some exceptionally rich poets who have published many books and are in high demand. Stick with something you are willing to sacrifice everything for, no matter how insignificant, and create the perfect life.

2. Desire more. People simply ask for less. They ask for less work, less pay and less experience. Completely unaware they go through life telling themselves, “I’m not good enough.” This is subconscious and often we aren’t awake enough to spot it. Ask yourself in any situation, “What do I want from this?” If someone offers you an outlandish proposition be spontaneous and take it – it could lead you somewhere fantastic.

3. Wake up. Simple awareness of what you are saying and doing will reveal that in fact you often talk yourself out of things proffering thin excuses such as, “I’m too old,” and, “I can’t afford it.” If you truly craved the life you desire nothing would hold you back!

End

This article is a challenge to anyone who is wondering how to make the most out of life. I dare you to start creating a LIFE for yourself instead of simply functioning for a LIVING.

Helpful Hints

a. Try and see yourself in the ideal situation. I have see myself on a beautiful South Sea beach sipping a cocktail. This will come to pass.

b. Take radical turns. Change jobs, travel overseas and do that thing you’ve been wanting to do for ages but have always been delaying.

c. Believe it. In your heart of hearts believe it. Create affirmations such as, “I am living in the perfect situation with all my dreams coming true; I believe this to be true.”

Good Luck Create that Life!

The reason why men love porn more than anything else in the world.

Men are some beings that love to have intercourse all the time. They dont care about the consequences they just love to do it.Porn is addicting, it’s all about naked people having sexual intercourse with each other. The reason I say porn is men’s number one addiction, it’s because it is!If a man owns a computer, most likely he has watched porn, it’s pretty amazing how porn rules in the thoughts of a man. When it gets boring a man turns to porn. When he doesn’t have anything to do he turns to porn. Those type of people make me sick, it’s really disgusting when a person thinks that way.Even in Asia they have porn, wich means porn is a big business world wide. They make videos so men can watch it.Every time that video is viewed, the creator’s of the porn video make money, that is very amazing to me.Like I said everything in the porn industry is simply business they dont do it for fun, they do it for money.Porn stars make alot of money off of men.Even the less popular ones are making tons of cash.I can’t imagine how many Porn stars there are, and they just do it for the money, we can’t judge anyone, a job is a job some pay more than others that is the difference. The male Porn stars are having the time of there life’s, they get paid for something they love to do.Men are just horny dogs who are waiting for that big moment.Porn gets very disgusted after a while, I do not know how they can watch porn for hours, doesn’t their heads hurt?Common lets just be honest, men plus computer equals porn, wich means porn plus men equals money, wich means Internet is evil, wich means I dont know what I’m talking about.I’ve noticed that men do not like soft porn, they make fun of it, they love to watch the real deal with the big meal.Soft porn doesn’t show the privates, and the real porn does.If you have something to say please feel free to leave a comment on this article, just go to the bottom and speak your mind so we can all read what you have to say, it doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree with me.Well people this has been your friend Spectacular from Triond.com, peace.

Many prisoners in China are forced by guards at night to play World of Warcraft style video games to get as many points on which the guards and then sell them for purchase, says a former prisoner was quoted by The Guardian. The practice is not new, but the number of people forced to do this in China is much bigger than he could imagine anyone, writes British newspaper. Chinese authorities deny the information and say the detainees have no contact with the outside world.

A prisoner of 54 years old said that day was forced to do physical work, and at night he was forced to play on the internet to get as many points on which to sell and then the guards of charge. The prisoner said that at the detention center where he was, about 300 people were forced to play, and if the guards were not happy, they applied corporal punishment.

Authorities say though that information is pure fables and the detainees have absolutely no contact with what is happening outside the prison, so that no question of them not to play with some opponents on the Internet.

The Guardian estimated that about 100,000 people in China play to sell the points raised, and it generates billions of dollars in illegal practice.

The prisoner says he heard the guards quoted discussing how they managed to pull over 600 dollars a day selling points achieved in forcing prisoners to play to exhaustion.

“And then she said that…..” oh my god, speak of the devil!
It’s very common to end a conversation with this expression if you’ve been naughty and talking about someone behind their back.

Image via Wikipedia

The little devil popping up and making our lives a little more awkward.

The expression is a thing that warns us about the coming of a person who we have been talking about. Often it’s said with an element of humour in it.

Don’t worry, there aren’t any devils creeping around. They’re not a person you necessarily dislike, but that they were being talked about behind their back. Generally the idea is that the person talked about is an unwelcome guest, much like old toby, perhaps because they won’t like the conversation.

Image via Wikipedia

It’s a great turn of phrase that has no real reason or purpose anymore, but a offer you a good way to mention someone’s presence in a humourous way.

10. Blind People Dream

people blind after birth- see images like the rest of us, with color

people blind at birth- don’t see images but dream with touch, taste, sound, smell

9. You Forget 90% of your Dreams

after being awake for about 5 minutes, you will forget 90% of all your dreams of that night, dream journals must be written immediately after waking to ensure that as much of the dream will be remembered.

8. Everybody Dreams

this is a no brain-er, everyone dreams ( with the exception of people with extreme psychological disorders) Vegetable people, men, women, serial killers, civil war reenacters all dream .

7. Dreams Prevent Psychosis

even if you get a full 8 hours but you don’t dream, you’ll have a hard time concentrating, and doing basic mathematics and other brain functions

6. We Only Dream of What We Know

every face in your dream is someone that you have seen in the past, every building, tree, and car is one that in reality you have seen. Since dreams are a ” map of you subconscious”, it only takes things that it knows to form images

5. Not Everyone Dreams in Color

A full 12% of sighted people dream exclusively in black and white. The remaining number dream in full color. most people also dream about common subjects ( school, falling, or being chased)

4. Dreams are not about what they are about

almost always, dreams have a hidden meanings or symbolism that do not have anything to do with the actual ” image that you see

3. Quitters have more vivid dreams

people who put down cigarettes have reported much more ” in- depth” dreams and the majority say within a few weeks they have at least one dream about smoking

2. External Stimuli influence dreams

This is called Dream Incorporation and it is the experience that most of us have had where a sound from reality is heard in our dream and incorporated in some way. A similar (though less external) example would be when you are physically thirsty and your mind incorporates that feeling in to your dream. You could be hungry in real life, eat food in your dream, then start feeling hungry again.

1. You become paralyzed when you dream

Believe it or not, your body is virtually paralyzed during your sleep ( during REM ) – most likely to prevent your body from acting out aspects of your dreams. people can wake up during this paralysis and still be frozen.

Just a Story with a twist.

One cold afternoon in Whoville, the Grinch was driving down the miniature road in his small little car listening to the radio. Christmas songs were playing, then a commercial break came on with an announcement saying that Christmas would be cancelled in Whoville due to the cold weather. Mr. Grinch quickly slammed on the brakes and made a U-Turn to head to the radio station from where he heard this awful news. Driving down the road at top speed, Mr. Grinch finally reach the radio station. The tingling inside his green body made him storm past the guards and through the door and into the only room that was being aired in. He yelled out on air as loud as he could, “IF ANYONE WANTS TO HELP ME SAVE CHRISTMAS, REPORT TO MY CAVE ON TOP OF MT. CRUMPET!”

Storming out of there with everybody watching him, he wondered how many people might show up. As he pulled up the mountain that his cave set on, he saw about a dozen people already standing there. After waiting about five more minutes to see if anyone else would show up, he introduced himself as the Grinch and asked everybody what their names were, and why they wanted to save Christmas.

The first one said, “Hello, my name is Jingle, and I want to save Christmas because it’s my favorite time of the year!”

The second – who looked just like the first one – said, “Hi’ya, my name is Jangle, I want to save Christmas because I love to see the look on kids faces when they get their presents.”

Next came a grumpy lookin’ feller, “I’m Heat Miser, you can call me Heat, I love to be here because if we all weren‘t, then the birthday of Jesus wouldn‘t be celebrated in Whoville!”

After that was a snowman that looked very familiar, “Hi! They called me Frosty the Snowman back in the day, but you can call me Frosty now. I’m going to save Christmas because I remember how it felt to get a present when I was a little one.”

Then came the fattest, but meanest looking one of the group. “My name is Burgermeister Meisterburger, and I’m here to learn some Christmas spirit.” He said in a grumpy old voice.

The sixth one had a squeaky voice and was short just like the next two, “My name is Dopey, I’m very good at tinkering, and I can keep everyone relaxed while I’m here. So I hope I can do as I think I can.”

The Grinch stared down at Dopey with a smile on his face and said, “Then you will be a great addition to the group!”

Then next one was a perky boy, “I’m Happy.” everyone stared at him with a confused look on their faces. “No, that’s my name. It’s okay, a lot of people get confused. I’m here because I wanted to just help. There doesn’t always have to be a reason.”

At this the Grinch smiled. He counted the last of the ones who hadn’t gone yet and saw that there were just four left. Finally, he thought to himself.

Next was Grumpy, Mr. Grinch remembered seeing him walking down the street by himself. “Hey Mr. Grinch, nice to see you helping the community again. I just thought I’d pitch in since my two brothers were here.” Said Grumpy.

Out of nowhere came a nasty sounding voice. “My name is Scrooge, everyone thinks I have no Christmas spirit, but I’m here to prove that I do!”

Next was a reindeer that everyone knew was Rudolph the red nose reindeer. “Well, I think we all know who I am. Not trying to be full of myself, it’s just most people know. But for those of you that don’t, I’m Rudolph, also know as Rudolph the red nose reindeer. I’ll be able to carry the toys and supplies to each station-.”

The Grinch just burst out. “You will be the best! You have also gave me the best idea that I could think of, having stations, and whoever is the best at a certain station will be the maker there, since there are only eleven families to make presents for!”

Rudolph smiled with pride as the last person went on to say their information. “I’m Jack Frost, I’m here for community service, because of what I did to the big ole’ Santy Clause.” said the last one.

Mr. Grinch nodded slowly and told everybody the plan. Since they only had a week to make eleven presents, (and Mr. Grinch already knew what everybody wanted), their would only be at most three people at each station. Jingle would make three dolls with Jangle’s help. Heat and Burgermeister Meisterburger would make one wooden duck that looked like it was done by a professional. Then Frosty and Jack Frost would make five hula-hoop’s that lit up when they hit the ground. And last of all Scrooge would make one candle that was scented like peppermint. Of course Rudolph would carry the supplies to everyone. Mr. Grinch explained that they could not tell anyone about this plan, that is was going to be a surprise to the children of Whoville. If they ever had to talk about it in front of someone, to just call it the elves eleven operation.

The next few days past and everything was going along smoothly. Three days until Christmas and everyone was done with everything and Mr. Grinch was looking over all of the presents, making final touches and wrapping. Once everything was done and wrapped, him and his eleven ‘elves’ had a little celebration for the hard work they had done.

Two days gone and it was Christmas Eve, Mr. Grinch had all the presents packed and was ready to set off to Whoville. All alone in his cove, he watched the clock strike twelve and set off on foot to deliver the gifts to the Whoviller’s.

Down every chimney he would go, just like Santa Clause. Each time he would place one present under the tree and jump back up the chimney. Jumping from house to house had to be the best part of the trip. Feeling the wind going through the hair all down his body, and being in air with nothing underneath you, now that had to be it! Once he got to the last house he knew that he had to do one extra chore while there. The Lou family had a daughter named Mary that had been very sick. He had to go in and give her present in person. Walking through the house on his green tip toes, he finally reach the bedroom where Mary was sleeping. Carefully placing the gift at her feet, she shuffled her body. The Grinch sprang back, only to see that she was moving in her sleep. With the present already set down, he tip toed out just like he had come in and shot back up the chimney.

Later on, Grinch learned that sometimes it’s better to give than receive. Just sometimes seeing the look on children faces can be the best present of all!
