How to do so.

At Christmas, it will not have escaped your attention that the majority of us like to spend a lot more money than we might normally think we should. We want to fill the house with lots of treats and things to eat in the evenings, but these can cost a lot of money on top of our weekly shop, and many of us just cannot afford things like that anymore.

Luckily, it is possible to spread the cost without really having to worry about it all that much. If you buy things for Christmas throughout the course of the year, then you should find that you have enough treats for you when the time actually comes.

The first thing that you should do is make a list of all of the things that you like to eat over the Christmas period. This can include any chocolates, crisps, cheese, biscuits, or anything else that you might like. You should go to a supermarket and have a look at how long the expiry dates tend to be on them. This will help you to work out just how far in advance you could buy the things. Some things, like chocolates, sometimes have more than a year of date on them, which means that you could buy them in the January sales when the prices are low. You should make sure that you have somewhere nice and cool in your house where you can store things for Christmas without worrying about them going off or being misplaced. If you buy things during the course of the year instead of leaving everything until the last minute, you will find things a lot easier to deal with.

If you like to have things like decorations and crackers, these are an awful lot cheaper just after Christmas, so you should buy them a year in advance for the next Christmas. You can even buy things like Christmas cards and wrapping paper, so you won’t have to worry about the cost or the stress of buying them when you get to December again.

Some catalogues allow you to build up your balance by direct debit during the course of the year, and then choose what you want to spend it on in December. If you do this, you could choose to buy whatever you want with your balance, and you know that you won’t have to worry about not having enough money for the things that you want.

If you take this advice, there is no need why you should have to go without the things that you are used to having at Christmas.

How to do so.

It can’t have escaped your attention that Christmas is just around the corner. If you, like millions of other people in the world, are struggling to find the money to be able to buy the things for your friends and family that you feel as though you want to, then this article might be of interest to you. There are things that you can do in order to get a little bit of extra cash at this time of year so that you can make your wallet stretch further.

Around September, you should have a good look around your house and see if there is anything that you could sell online. If you’re anything like most people in the country, you will have an awful lot of things that you just know you’re never going to use again. You should make a pile of these items in the corner of a room so that they’re not in the way, and set a weekend aside to make listings for them online. You might find that there is the odd weekend where you are able to get free listings, and it might be a good idea for you to keep your eyes open for these, as they will save you a couple of pounds if you have a fair amount of items to sell.

Make use of the time that you have online. There are a lot of websites where you can get paid for chatting, clicking on advertisements, giving your opinions or selling simple surveys. You could do this all year round, and then save the money in a separate bank account. You could easily make a couple of hundred pounds during the course of the year without really thinking about it, and this could make all the difference when you’re thinking about what you can afford at Christmas.

Buy things throughout the year. If you see things during the course of the year that you think would make a good stocking filler for a loved one, then you should pick it up. This means that it will be spreading the cost, and you won’t have to shell out a huge amount of money in one go for presents at Christmas. You should make sure that you keep a list of the things that you’re buying though, as you don’t want to end up with far too many presents for one person and then nothing for anybody else.

If you take these tips into account, you should be able to make the money stretch a little bit further this Christmas. Now all you have to worry about is having fun!

Wrapping paper is wasted every holiday. There are, however, several creative and practical ways to recycle your Christmas wrapping paper.

After all of the presents are opened, you look around and see piles of wrapping paper strewn about. Each year it takes several garbage bags to clean up the mess and you haven’t done much in the area of recycling. Here are some very easy ways to recycle your Christmas wrapping paper.

Stuff the crumpled up wrapping paper in hats or purses to keep the form

Cover your child’s school books with holiday wrapping paper to protect the text books

Use a piece of wrapping paper to cover a cork board and hang it on the wall. Now you have a festive board to leave messages and your to-do lists.

Cut the paper into 6 inch squares. Go online and follow directions to learn how to make origami shapes and animals.

Use the paper around the base of a bouquet of flowers you are taking to someone special

Cut a piece of the recycled wrapping paper to fit the front sleeve of a three ringed binder. Slide the paper in the clear, front sleeve to have a decorative binder.

Cut the paper into small pieces and leave them by the phone. Use the white side of the paper to write down messages.

Measure your drawers or cabinets. Cut the paper to fit and insert.

If the paper isn’t torn or too wrinkled, you can always re-wrap a present. If there is a little wrinkle to the paper, iron the paper on the “wrong” side on low heat.

Give your kids the job of cleaning up the paper and tell them to have a “snowball” fight
