More Plato mused about why people are so willing to kiss. His theory was as follows. Previously, a person to the form of a ball. He had four arms, four legs and two heads, both male and female. This is a single creature, however, was too arrogant, and Zeus, angry, divided it into "male" and "female" halves. And only through a kiss, according to Plato, it will connect again. Homer (Il. 15.184–93) recounts that when the cosmos was divided among

the gods, Poseidon received the sea as his lot. Yet his first worshipers probably

did not live within sight of the sea. Poseidon was a powerful god among the

Mycenaean Greeks, and his cult is strongest among populations established

in the Greek world before the so-called Dorian invasion.
