Britney spears got her first break when she was picked up on a show called Star Search back in 1992.  This opened the door for her to appear on the then popular show The New Mickey Mouse Club between 1993 and 1994. 

The name Britney Spears wouldn’t become a household name however until the release of her debut album  ‘Baby One More Time in 1999.  In the single of the same name Britney is seen dancing in a school girl uniform with her mid-rift exposed.  The sight of a seventeen year old gyrating, half naked, sent male pulses racing the world over; and some will argue catapulted Britney Spears to instant stardom. 

The naked theme became a mainstay of the Britney Spears phenomenon, with an assortment of tantalising costumes in her increasingly raunchy videos.  While at the same time, the Britney Spears PR machine was projecting  a virginal image of the young pop icon.

Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears, were the hottest young celebrity couple on the planet, at the height of her career; but the fairytale wouldn’t last forever.  In 2002 the bubble burst for the pop princess and the couple split.  Britney went on to marry twice; but her second husband, Kevin Federline, would dispel any lingering hope that Britney Spears was still a virgin, as the couple had two kids together.

It was when she split from Kevin Federline in 2006 that Britney Spears started to descend into mental illness and drug abuse.  This is also the time that the world media turned on the star; reporting every idiosyncrasy as the advanced stages of schizophrenia.  Britney has since attempted to revive her ailing career; but with little success.
