The Secret

“The Law of Attraction”, Is it all hype?
A personal encounter of the journey to uncover “The Secret” for myself.

The movie and the book, “The Secret” depicts everything that as a child I was consistently told not to do!

“Stop Daydreaming”, “You won’t get it by wishing” “It won’t appear out of thin air” “Work hard for what you want “. These thoughts have held their place in my mind for the better part of my life. So to read and then view people telling me that what I’d been taught was simply not true and that I could have what I wanted if only in fact I would day dream about it, obviously piqued my interest and curiosity.

November 2006 was the month and year that I was introduced to “The Secret”.

The rest of the world is being awoken to it now by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Ellen De Generes and other high profile personalities along with the “Teachers” of “The Secret”

If you’re not familiar with it yet then I don’t know where you’ve been?

“The Secret” is all about the “Law of Attraction”. One of the most important Laws and a Universal Law akin to the “Law Of Gravity”. It is working whether we like it or not.

The Law of Attraction simplified, means we attract into our lives that which we give our main focus of attention to. So if we think poor we attract poor. If we think fat we attract fat. If we think sick we attract sick. Of course as stated this is the simplified explanation but in truth it is so much more than that.

Now I consider myself to be a normal person, although one that has always struggled with religion. In fact the word “God” brought up such strong anti – feelings that for a while there I wondered if the two of us hadn’t had a personal disagreement when I was younger and I’d vowed never to speak to “God “ again for upsetting me, because it took me until I was 43 years of age to acknowledge the word into my vocabulary. So quite obviously I was and am not a Church goer. I had my own belief system and thoughts that I kept to myself because I felt that no one else could possibly share them.

I consider myself also to be an intelligent woman and at the onset of my journey a skeptic.

Today my life is somewhat different to the life I had back in November.

Today I am different.

If you have read “The Secret” or seen the movie and dismissed it as “Rich People” jargon and feel good rubbish, then I implore you to take a moment to stop and reflect. What if? What if all they’re saying is true? What if you could change your life for the better? What if dreams really can come true?

If you want some hope and you’d like to follow my journey then I invite you along. This is my first article on my journey with the teachings of “The Secret” and I want to share with anyone and everyone that will listen the incredible things that have happened to me and the amazing things that ] I have begun to “Manifest” into my life.

I’m not an internet guru or a religious freak or a New Age fruit loop. I am a 43 year young! Woman located in Queensland Australia recently separated after 20 years of married life, with a love for writing, life and a need to share what I can only describe as a life changing experience. If you’d like some inspiration from someone who is taking this path then I hope I can give it.

I hope to inspire, encourage and take readers on a journey of their own self discovery in future articles. Life really is amazing. How infuriating that it took me so long to work it out!
