Inner Peace
This is an article out of the realm I usually will be discussing. It is for those who need a smile and for my own inner peace.
I am a political scientist. Most items I write on Triond will concern politics. It is my passion. I believe it is a necessity for individuals to discuss and improve their society. However, today is a day where I will not be referring specifically to politics (though I think my ideas can be tied to politics). It is more of a smile for anyone who needs it including me.
I find on days where it seems a little more challenging to get through my day that a good quote makes me happier. Seriously, it is finding the little things that make you think, ponder, challenge yourself, that bring you back to reality. By reality, I mean inner peace. Why not consider your reality when you are most happy and not when things keep slapping you in the face? It is thinking about individuals who you know are going through extremely tough times and realizing the best way to help them is by helping yourself. If you can realize the happiness you can achieve by helping someone, then you will make their day and yours. It is realizing that their is something far greater out there and I want to dedicate my life to it: peace.
Having said that, I would like to share a few quotes which brought me back to my reality:
Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Love is friendship set on fire.” Jeremy Taylor
“Whatever is begun in anger ends in shame.” Benjamin Franklin
“Write drunk; edit sober.” Ernest Hemingway
“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.” Buddha
“Whatever words we utter should be chosen with care for people will hear them and be influenced by them for good or ill.”
Buddha
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke
“No one can earn a million dollars honestly.” William Jennings Bryan
“Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.” Albert Einstein “Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.” Albert Einstein
“I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours.” Sir Stephen Henry Roberts
“Always do right- this will gratify some and astonish the rest.” Mark Twain
“In the end, everything is a gag.” Charlie Chaplin
My reality, as I sit and look up famous philosophers and individuals, is although no one is positive, individuals must educate themselves and stand up for what they believe in. Enjoy the little things! Make a difference! Share the moments of greatness with others and do not look back. You must learn but if you truly have educated yourself and are standing up for a cause, your goals will not be in vain.
