10 Reasons to Avoid the Office Christmas Party
Many companies will be holding office Christmas parties. Even in these distressed times, there are still companies that will provide a little holiday cheer. However, sometimes you just don’t feel like going.
- You’ve heard rumors that your boss is going to hand out a little gift called a pink slip
- Your boss has been rumored to spike the eggnog. You aren’t in the mood to go home drunk.
- Your co-worker plans to sing a medley of Christmas songs. Your co-worker is a terrible singer.
- You have a date with your boyfriend to go to the symphony. You’ve been looking forward to this concert for weeks.
- You still have heart burn from the last Christmas party. The food was overly spicy and hot.
- You don’t want to hear the same speech about employee sacrifices. Of course, this means no bonuses for another year.
- You wind up having to do most of the clean up when the party is over
- You’ve watched the Weather Channel and understand that there is a forecast for ten inches of snow in the evening. You do not want to get stuck in the office.
- You have a cold and feel sick. The idea of a huge buffet makes you want to gag.
- You have to pay $50 to attend. The boss calls this making a “contribution.” You call it a “rip off.”
