A Change in Career Options

When a career takes a nose dive there is always one thing that comes to mind especially for those in high flying jobs…

Whatever Happened to Your Career?

A career takes us into life’s many journeys full of ups and downs but we are more likely to accept the ups than the downs. Any turn in direction has both internal and external factors that can result in a chain reaction after all we are only human and are particularly good at orchestrating our own downfall.

Now here is the great thing about having a career, you have direction in life you know what you want and you are comforted by the fact that you are sure you know where you are coming from and where you are going.

When a career takes a nose dive there is always one thing that comes to mind especially for those in high flying jobs, they will say they are ruined god forbid some even take extreme measures and not only take there lives but even of those they love.

There is no need to keep kicking yourself in the back side when things go bad in your life, in my personal experience it should be a temporal set back but perhaps a reminder that your life needs a new direction. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, if it doesn’t kill you why should you do it yourself?

When things don’t go well in our lives there is a lot of anger within us that builds up, but is only natural at difficult times, it is only how you deal with it that will define your new direction. At difficult or turning points in our lives problems will not go away with a wave of a magic wand, a once very optimistic person becomes a pessimist.

Dependency can make you a perpetual Berger, if you resort to drinking you will do all it takes just to have a drink even spending the little you have which if in a proper mind set would have probably yield more. And so a chain reaction begins which only can lead to yourself destruction.

When we are in a tight spot we also become desperate and desperate people do desperate things which is like adding fuel to a fire trying to put it off. Basically do not rush to try and correct the situation it can only get worse.

Frustration is also a big problem because it will play on you mind all the time to fail once when you where doing so well makes you feel chances are you might fail again. You develop a certain negative attitude towards yourself and end up with low esteem.

When i went to see my consultant about feeling down and out i think he gave me the best advice, which might not be for every one, that i should not rush into getting antidepressant or sleeping pills or anything medical to deal with my situation. He advised for me to try and deal with the situation the normal way, and as one friend put it in chat room he wants me to live life.

Here is my reasoning basically the problems wont simply go away by medicating it, i will wake up tomorrow it will still be there and besides anti depressants take long to kick in. By the time it does kick in a lot of things could have changed. Don’t get me wrong my assertion is that these are temporal set backs that are external or/and internal to an already existing type of life ie someone who already has a medical condition.

Every individual has a strong will to live and that will should be used to deal with life’s ups and downs. Our downs in life should not be taken as a death sentence but rather life asking us to review how we live our lives, how we interact with ourselves and everything around us.

I for one do not like to talk about my situation or condition day in and day out like i am feeling sorry for myself, it only reinforces the anger and frustration in you. If i am to talk about it i would rather look at it from a positive perspective that is how you cope and move on and not be stuck in misery.

Interesting. I think one needs to be realistic and deal with what Life brings them with the mindset that challenges or difficulties in our lives are aimed at growing us.
