A List of High-Paying Jobs
A list showing the top paying jobs you can get, with the least amount of education.
Here we are again, with another job list, but this one is more for those who don’t want to spend a chunk of their lives studying at a college. The list will show the top paying jobs that don’t require a professional degree, but rather a high school diploma (or a GED).
- Web Designers make a hefty $43,591 – $57,167 a year. There is some controversy about this job, but I believe that a college degree is not at all necessary to become a Web Designer. Others argue that you require advanced knowledge not only in scripting and programming, but also Photoshop, and art. These both are very true, to be a successful Web Designer you need to be able blend the two elements mentioned above. But you wouldn’t need a college degree for all this however. Online courses are available to all who want them. Some of them cost money (the more refined courses) but others are totally free. So in all, being a Web Designer can be done without a college degree. But it will require years of work during and after high school to build up the required skills, which may not make this job a valid candidate for you.
- Appliance Repairman. $37,345 – $56,285. Now this salary varies very widely. In fact, the salary shown here is just a estimated “range” the average Appliance Repairman brings in. That top number there is more than what a firefighter makes, but because it depends on the demand for the repair of broken appliances you’re salary can vary. (In this economy however, thrifty people won’t want to throw things out, meaning as a Appliance Repairman, you can earn more business)
- A firefighter. These guys make about $32,165 – $53,608 yearly, depending on location. But to become a firefighter you need to have enough physical stamina to support you throughout the day. Because you are supposed to be in top physical condition. But the downside to being a firefighter is that you are inhaling smoke, every time a fire erupts. And not only that, but if the fire you are fighting starts to burn into some gas, and that gas leaks while you are fighting it, it can affect your lungs permanently.
- Truck Drivers. $42,000 – $52,000. If you enjoy driving on the open road, this job is fit for you. With lots of peace and solitude driving can be a real pleasure. And not only that, you are a necessary tool for delivering goods, which people do a lot nowadays with the rise of online shopping. But most truck drivers don’t stop after high school, there are special school designated to teach you how to drive 18 wheelers and many more.
- Police officers make around $31,000 – $50,000 yearly, depending on where you take the job. To be fair, to become a police officer you may require an associates degree in criminal law, or a year worth of law enforcement business. Also keep in mind the dangers that are posed by taking this job, you will get shot at, you’ll have to answer to late calls, and that will cause high stress.
- Plumbers or Electricians make around $35,575 – $48,833. Now to be a plumber/electrician, you need to require common sense, and like being a mechanic, you have to be an apprentice, to learn the trade before you can go out on your own. This job does have its risks. Especially when handling live electricity, things can get dangerous.
- Mechanics bring in $30,584 – $40,564 on average yearly. Mechanics are important, and is a very useful profession. However to become a mechanic you need to be a apprentice, to a more experienced person, until that person deems you fit for the job. Also keep in mind all the fumes you will be breathing in as you fix cars and the potential dangers should an accident occur.
- Occupational Therapy assistant. Bringing in $30,000 – $38,000 annually. With a long title, the description of this job is to help people recover from just about anything. If you really enjoy helping people deep down in your heart, then this job is a very golden opportunity. Once again, should you fail in rehabilitating said person, then the emotional effects could be disastrous.
- Salesman. Being a sales person is like the ultimate American Dream. You only get paid the amount of effort you put it. As a salesman, the income can vary, depends on where you work, how hard you work, what you sell, etc. etc. So in all there really is no salary for a salesperson, it all depends on you. Also as a plus, you are able to choose your own hours, but public rejection is just one of the downsides to being a salesman
Ok, so that concludes my article. But keep in mind all these salaries vary from place to place. Sometimes other professions are more in demand than others. While some are not needed as much. Also with these jobs all the salaries represented are starting salaries. That means as you work your way up, your income can rise too. I hope this article was of help to those who seek it.

I’m sorry… “a job without a highschool diploma”???
You have no clue what you’re writing about.
Web design is more than knowing how to use a computer, any idiot can do that, we have proof of this since you did write this article.
There is art, communication skills, composition, coding in anguages such as JAVA, Actionscript, Flash animation, the use of photo retouch and enhancement applications, graphic applications, the list goes on.
I challenge anyone without a high school diploma to do what I can do with my well earned 25 year career as a visual communications specialist and my degree.
So please, for that sake of all my colleagues out there in the field of PROFESSIONAL web design, don’t write nonsense.

I agree with you. Your argument is very correct. After more research, being a web designer requires cannot be done with just a high school diploma. In fact, you would probably need extra education outside of high school. Programming codes, working with scripts, is all a good example of how it would be hard to cut it with a high school diploma.
But in a sense, with the internet as an active resource available for the masses, anyone person could take advantage of this and could take online courses. Some of these courses (the more refined ones) tend to cost a bit of money. But others out there are free and useful.
So I apologize for any inconveniences this article may have brought you and your colleagues.
However, I do note that I meant to write “with a high school diploma”.
