Being Unemployed Can be a Good Thing

Being unemployed can be a good thing. That is, if you are independently wealthy. That means that you do not have to earn a living, in order to remain healthy and alive. It also means that you might not be making a meaningful contribution to the society in which you live.

If you are not actively seeking employment you can do, more or less, whatever you want to do, like sleep most of the day or party or play video games or watch television or whatever. You can take a walk in the park and experience the wonders of Nature. You can watch other people work until they are ready to drop dead from exhaustion. You can also shop for new and improved modes of entertainment or just go to the shopping mall and see other people spend their hard earned money.

Be that as it may, you are not truly unemployed unless you are a complete idiot. As rich as you are you must be doing something with your time besides eating, sleeping and walking around your home. You can be self-employed as a gambler or one who invests in the financial markets, sells used household items, antiques and/or collectibles.

One thing for sure, you do not have to travel to work each working day and see the same people. At the same time, you do not have to worry about making a serious mistake that could also ruin your life forever. That is, if you are not a gambler or one who is an investor.

You must have done something that now puts you into a position of not having to work for a living. No doubt, some of you were simply born into a wealthy family. Your parents or the other members of the past generations of your family made the big bucks that you now enjoy having which, by the way, are earning those additional big bucks that you enjoy spending for whatever it is that your heart desires.

It is all there for you to buy, like fast cars, vacation homes, airplanes, electronics, jewelry, pets, servants and the list seems to never end. You want to have it all just because you do have the big bucks to feed your quest for the good life.

Fine dining is a must for you and your big buck friends. After all, what good is having big bucks if you cannot treat your big buck friends once in a while.

It that sense you really are making a contribution to the society, by paying out good money to those people who truly must work, in order to earn a living and remain healthy and alive. Then again, you are not truly independent.

Without all of those other people who provide entertainment to you in the form of goods and services your life would be truly meaningless. If so, you truly are unemployed but you know that is not the case.

In our own way we all make some kind of contribution to the World in which we all live. Good, bad or otherwise, as long as we are alive we add to the history of our World, no matter how small that addition turns out to be.
