We use a lot of time and energy at work; in fact, we spend more time at our office place working than doing anything else. But many of us have found was to duck our work and here are a few classic was to do just that.

There are so many ways we use to duck our work and with the increase in technology more and more distractions are coming our way. Let it be some sports events that are streamed live over the internet or our phones, e-mails etc.  Let us see what are methods by most of us use to duck our work.

  • Watching sports events on the net. With the advancement in the internet and sports events being streamed live on the net more and more of us are finding it an interesting pastime and a fun way to duck our work. But this is not all let us see some of the more common tried and tested distractions.
  •  Water Cooler Conversations. Whether, talking about your boss, the latest gossip of famous movie stars and celebrities, ragging on a co-worker the essential need for hydration gives a perfect excuse to get away from the desk and distract yourself.
  • Talking on the phone! Most of us spend more time on the phone chatting with our friends than using it for our work. This is certainly a major distraction.
  •  Daydreaming. This is what most of us do when we have an assignment which is boring and we really do not feel like starting. You start to gaze into the sun setting over a tropical paradise, you can feel the cold condensation of a frozen cocktail in your hand, as the wind gently laps against the edge of your straw hammock. Steel drum rhythms resonate in the background and you finally realize that you have 45 unread messages in your inbox and the tropical scene was merely the background of your computer’s desktop. Daydreaming, the ultimate distraction.
  • Lunch breaks. This has been one of the standard ways most of us use to duck our work. Everybody’s got to eat, and grabbing lunch is a big way to duck your work even if it means extending your lunch breaks an extra 15 minutes.
  • Email, Email, Email! Imagine a world without email, it’s just about impossible. From cleaning out spam, to deleting company emails you know you’ll never read, email can be more of a distraction than anything else.
  • Checking Blogs. People who are hooked to checking blogs are really in for it and can send hours on their regular blogs. This can be detrimental to your productivity but is sometimes irresistible.
