There are many careers with no degree required which offer a good salary.

1. Air Traffic Controller
2. Dental Hygienist

Why would someone want to change careers?

Someone who appears to have everything going for them may change path and take on something entirely different. These persons may have silently been nursing a dream to explore their abilities in another field for quite a long time.

On the other hand some persons may voice their frustration or worries for years before shifting gears and launching into something new.

Jones has set a personal goal of competing and competing well, in the WNBA. She hopes that success in the field will make her a better role model to young people.

Other persons hope to achieve the success that has eluded them in their present profession by changing to another. In some instances this can work out well.

If someone was in a field where the average salary is far below what they need to survive, it may be worth the time and effort necessary to retrain, get industry exposure, network and do all the things necessary to ensure success in the new field.

Doing checks to establish what is required to achieve success in the field is important. It wouldn’t be wise to switch just because a friend or a former co-worker is doing well in the field. Even if you have a passion for the field, do all the relevant checking and test your assumptions about possible earnings, etc.
