Dispatch Nightmares

All drivers are encouraged to trust their dispatcher but can they really be trusted? Do they know the rules of their company better than you? Shouldn’t they know the company rules better than you do?

That’s right, they are afraid I’m going to sue them for some reason even though I signed disclaimers up my wah-zoo that day, somehow they think I can still sue them. Boy let me tell you what, I wouldn’t have dreamed of suing and although I haven’t said as much to my sister I think she should sue them for the mental anguish they have put her through. She has been in tears since one of the company men told her she may loose her job over this; after the dispatch had already told my sister she wouldn’t loose her job over this.

Now, why would a dispatcher tell my sister she wouldn’t loose her job over this because it was just a misunderstanding and yet the company man says otherwise? My sister hadn’t even asked dispatch if she could loose her job over it, the dispatcher just volunteered the information. If the dispatcher knew otherwise it was a cruel thing to do, if the dispatcher didn’t know for sure she should have kept her mouth shut; considering she omited that very vital piece of information to begin with.

A good trucker mainly concerns themselves with picking up their loads, getting the loads safely to their destinations and dropping them off. Truck driving life is a very lonely one and plays havoc with the eyes after a while. A driver is constantly concerned about weather conditions, road conditions, traffic, and time frames. For many truckers, dispatchers are the only people they talk to with any regularity.

Some company dispatchers are rude maybe they have no idea what it is like for the truckers out there on the road; more likely they just don’t care. Unfortunately all the companies see are the dollars rolling in not the human beings behind the wheel of these monsters making it all happen for them to get those dollars. If they did they would keep a better handle on their dispatchers and make sure they knew the rules so the next time a trucker is in a hurry to do his or her job and is requesting information from the dispatcher to help speed things along, they won’t end up like my sister.

God bless all you truckers out there that have the faith; luck be with those that don’t for I will keep you all in prayer.
