Equine Job Sites Reviewed

Here I take a comprehensive look at the top equestrian job sites on the internet.

There are thousands of job websites on the internet, including sites to find jobs for riders and grooms. I’ve been investigating the top sites on the web, trying to find out whether you can succesfully find a job working with horses on the internet.

Yard and Groom

www.yardandgroom.com is invariably the first site that comes up for any horsey job related search, and, as I found out, it’s also undeniably the best. There are thousands of jobs, which are constantly updated, available in all parts of the UK and overseas.

Registration is free, and you have the opportunity to build a complex profile, stating what your experience and job preferences are before you even upload your CV.

Making contact with employers is easy, as you can apply online or make contact directly by using YardandGroom’s e-mail feature – if you click a button they will send an e-mail to the employer asking them to consider you for the application.

I received a response from all of the employers I contacted with the offer of an interview.

Rating – 10/10

Career Grooms

www.careergrooms.com is second on the list, and the set up is very similar to Yard and Groom. Unfortunately with this site you don’t have the ability to create such a large profile, but the sign up process is easy and free. They will host your CV for you, which is viewable by potential employers.

It is easy to communicate with employers by e-mail, and again there is the ability to apply on-line direct. I received replies from half of the employers that I contacted.

There is a wide range of jobs available, although the highest post advertised was for a Yard Manager’s position.

Rating – 8/10

Horse and Hound

Horse and Hound have an extensive job listing on their website, alongside what is published in the magazine.

Browse from a range of jobs at www.horseandhound.co.uk/classifieds/job.xhtml

Jobs are mainly rider/groom based, however there are usually a few vacancies as educational institutions and equine marketing specialists as well. Jobs are guaranteed to be genuine – the only downside is that you have to do all the leg work yourself, as H & H only provide the contact details for employers.

Rating – 10/10

Animal Jobs

This is an ad-hosting site that lists a lot of vacancies. The site is not limited to jobs with horses, and therefore the quality of the positions advertised cannot be ascertained.

Registration is free, and it is up to you to make contact with employers.

The range of jobs is limited, and some adverts are for casual work.
