Fight Like a Man

About the progress of women in American culture.

You know, “Fight Like a Man” sounds awesome coming from a woman. Exactly what does it mean to “Fight like a man?” The statement means to not throw in the towel and put on your makeup or get on a treadmill thinking that will help you win a battle. Gloria Steinhem is a successful “women libber.” For you younger readers, Ms. Steinhem started the magazine “Ms” and was an advocate for women’s’ rights. Her work decreased the divide between women and men’s salaries.

The divide has decreased but the disparity to what a man brings to the table still differs from that of a woman. The percentage favor points to the man. An appearance on the Oprah Winfrey show in 2008 showed Gloria Steinhem almost ageless wearing black leather slacks and a clinging waist clinching blouse. She had maintained herself and was well in her 70’s. During the 1960’s because of the Marilyn Monroe era, women tried desperately to keep their waistlines at 24 inches. Realistically, in 2008 the healthy waist measurement is any size less than 34 inches. Why is the talk about waistlines when the topic of this writing is “Fight Like a Man?” Women fight differently. Men use all of their strength and might to increase their leverage or income. They know that power mean the affordability of providing for a family or promoting job skills up the rung to CEO, CFO or CIO. Women, the mother of nations and Presidents builds their sons up to carry on this “Fight like a man” role while daughters imitate the mothers. You may disagree to that statement as not one of the things that mothers do without being aware of it. Though women are more financially independent in today’s world, they are yet to be let on the battlefields of war, can still make history with senate appointments or as construction supervisors.

Oprah, a billionaire in her own right, who some may say has made it in what this writing may deem a man’s world, laments to the world about her weight. Has anyone weighed in Warren Buffet? Disparities remain in today’s world as women in American culture continue to “Fight Like a Man on women’s’ issues.
