Four Simple Tips on Waiting Tables

Follow these four simple steps and your service should leave the customers very happy.

4 Tips On How To Wait Tables

1. Always Have A Smile On Your Face.

No one wants to have someone waiting on them who looks mad or sad. It’s very important to have a smile on your face at all times.

2. Speak Clearly And Listen Carefully.

Always speak clearly and loud enough for your table to hear you. Also make sure to listen carefully to your table. No one likes to having to repeat their order several times so try to get their order the first time they say it.

3. Be Friendly.

Make sure you appear friendly. Don’t talk too much, but make sure you talk some. It’s always a good idea to ask them how they are doing and if you work at a restaurant that does something different from most restaurants make sure you let them know how things work.

4. Have Good Service.

This is one of the most important things when waiting tables. This is what gets the tips and keeps the costumers happy. When I wait on tables I ask them if they would like to start off with any drinks or appetizers. After bringing those out I ask if they need some more time on deciding what they want. (If they are clearly looking at their menus give them some more time.) When they give their order I immediately bring it to the cook so they can get started. Always bring out the appetizers first and bring the main course out once they are done with the appetizer. Once they get their main course give them a couple of minutes then check back and ask if everything is prepared alright. Always make sure they don’t need more of their drink and don’t forget about their table until they are gone.

If you follow these simple tips, your service should be great and so should the money.
