Handling Co-workers Who Have a Weak Work Ethic

Learn how to deal with co-workers who do not have a good work ethic.

Do you work with people who do not put much effort into their work? Is it correct that you are sick and tired of working your tail off while some of your fellow workers goof off? This type of conduct is not something you should put up with. You will learn how to deal with co-workers who do not have a strong work ethic.

Do not make an attempt to imitate co-workers who goof off. You should not want to follow in their footsteps or encourage them to maintain their bad habits.

You should not make a decision to work on a team with co-workers who do not take their jobs seriously. If you work on projects with them, you could share the blame if their lack of a contribution helps cause your team’s project to do poorly.

You should avoid being supportive of co-workers who do not put enough effort into their work. Instead, you should encourage them to develop a habit of having a strong work ethic.

You should warn your fellow workers who do not work hard about the consequences they face. It is a good idea to let them know that if they do not shape up, they are likely to face disciplinary action, lose their jobs and not get a recommendation or a good reference upon their termination.

You can do your part by setting a good example. It is a good idea to demonstrate the importance and value of hard work through the great effort you put into your work.

It is up to you to consider getting a new partner. If your partner at work is a co-worker who does not pull his or her weight, you should ask your boss to let you work with someone else.

You should not recommend lazy co-workers who lose their jobs or are in danger of doing so to recruiters who represent other firms. Why burden them and make yourself look bad?

You should not admonish co-workers who do not have a strong work ethic in front of others because this might upset them or give them an audience and more incentive to continue goofing off. The best approach to take is to address your beef with them in private.

You can take having a personal talk with co-workers a step further. If they do not listen to you, report them to the boss.

Use these tips to deal with co-workers who do not have a strong work ethic!

If you identified someone who had a poor work ethic…I wonder what would result if you sat them down with pen and paper on break and asked them to give you as many pointers as possible on how to improve your own work ethic to the maximum for times when work gets extremely busy.

Been there, the adage : It only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole basket, is true.
