Hang Onto Your Job
The thought of losing one’s job is enough to make a person feel faint out of fear. Worse still job hunting.
There’s no point in discussing how difficult it to find a job. Millions face that scenario , there’s no point in rubbing salt into the wound.
If you have work, by all means hang onto it because when you don’t have a job, your world comes tumbling down. There’s the emptiness you feel as you watch seemingly shiny happy people, with briefcases in their hands, heading to work each morning.
Have you browsed those job sites on the Internet where you can upload your CV ? Then hopefully, an employer will fish you out of all the hundreds of other fishes in the sea who are also vying to be caught. That’s why you often see the impressive lengths, and not so impressive lengths, that people go through to try and stand out through the CV tool. It’s like Internet dating sites where everyone is shiny and happy which, off course, is not true.
If jobs are scarce in the rich nations you can imagine how worse it is in developing countries like South Africa. Here we are, browsing through one particular South African website where locals have uploaded their resumes in the hope that someone, somewhere, will give them a break. Reading between the lines, there’s often a sense of urgency if not desperation.
Here are snippets from these on line profiles:
