How Many Days Do We Work In A Year?

Many people keep on complaining that they had to work too much. Recently, according to my research, we never work that much as we think we do.

Did you ever sit back and count how many days we work in one year? I think you did not. Well, I can do some basic calculation for you:

  1. 1 Year has 365 days. We sleep 8 hours/day. Therefore, we lost 122 days, 365-122= 243 days.
  2. We work 8 hours a day+ 8hrs sleeping, so we have 24-16= 8 free hours/day, so we have 122 free days, 243-122= 121 days.
  3. We don’t work in Sunday, and a year has 52 Sundays, 121-52= 69 days.
  4. We might work half Saturday, and so, 52 Saturdays/ 2 = 26 free day, 69-26= 43 days.
  5. A year has 12 holidays, therefore, 43-12= 31 days.
  6. And 31 days is what we can offer for a month vacation.

That means, we probably didn’t work even a day for the whole year, but we still live smoothly, right?

So, you count 8 hours per day of sleep, and then count 52 Sundays as well? Do we not sleep on Sundays (or Saturdays, or holidays, for that matter)?

We work 8 hours per day, but how many of us leave for work at 9pm and return home at 5pm? None, I suspect. There is probably at least one hour of travel time (sometimes 2) each day.

I know you’re just joking around, but this argument is entrely flawed.

Yeah this logic is totally mixed up. Just do 52 weeks times 5 days a week minus holidays and then minus paid leave.

Technically there are a total of 2,080 working hours permitted for a normal full time position (Less than 1000 is considered part time and anything more than 2080 should be paid overtime). so like Greg said 52 x 5 = 260 working days That’s total. Most company’s give 1 to 4 weeks vacation. so whatever you have… do the math. you will be paid for 2,080 hours if you work your 40 hour work week, take a paid vacation/sick day and do not work overtime.

I hope this isn’t confusing and I am trying to be helpful.. not joking.
