How to Avoid Falling From Ladders- 13 Golden Tips
Falling down from ladders can cause very serious injuries and falling from a height might even cause death. Falls from a ladder or step ladder can largely be avoided by using some of the safety rules below…
- Fix a ladder safely in position before climbing up.
- Have someone else with you to keep and eye on you while you climb ,work or descend from a ladder. Let him guide you while you work.
- Move the ladder or steps in a position where you can easily reach your required place without the need to bend or lean.
- Never lean sideways while climbing or working.
- Make sure the top and bottom of a ladder are well secured before climbing.
- Always climb up from the front of the ladder. Look upwards only while you climb.
- A ladder is designed to allow one person to use it at a time only.
- Do not allow young children to climb up a ladder for fun.
- To keep one hand free to hold the ladder while working, use specially designed tool trays and bucket holders.
- Always erect a ladder on a firm, leveled ground to avoid the base from slipping away.
- Carry only required weight( as little weight as you can )while climbing.
- Always wear non-slip shoes.
- Always pull out a stepladder fully and check that the safety catches are properly engaged.Never stand on the top rung of a straight or extension ladder. Stand on the fourth step down from the top so that you can still hold both the sides conveniently.
