How to be a Great Employee Not Just a Good One

Being a great employee is important. In this book Dr. Phillip E. Clark Ph.d will focus on nine points of being a great employee and not just a good one.

Being a great employee is important. Working the largest retailer in the world has given me the insight.

  1. If you want to be a great employee and just a good one you need to be punctual. Being at the time clock ten minutes early may prompt management to ask you to clock in early. If the business is based on customer flow, the every day will be flexible. Starting work early means overtime or leaving the job early during the end of the work week.
  2. Exercising is essential to being a great employee and not just a good one. Countless time employees come to work fatigued out. The job they do require being physically fit. I have seen employees not able to carry out their duties because they can’t lift the minimum required weight. This could result in limited job performance, lost hours, and shifts in job duties.
  3. Eating the right foods. I recently caught a fainted employee heading to the floor because he didn’t eat before coming to work. It’s not just important when you eat, but also what you eat. Eating a healthy diet is important of being an great employee and not just a good one.
  4. Rest. Having a good night’s rest is essential if you want to be a great employee and not just a good one. Having a good night’s rest or day’s rest depending on your schedule is important. It’s been said the brain operates better with six through nine hours rest.
  5. Respect. Respect those that have rule over you. Respecting those that have rule over you, will help others respect you when you become a leader. They will learn to respect you and others will the leaders in front of you.
  6. Have integrity. Don’t practice lying. Company leaders won’t believe the words coming out of your mouth if they find you practice lying. When it comes to vital financial operations of the business they will most likely pass you up for promotions if you practice lying and could terminate your employment for you lying.
  7. Keep your word. If you say you will do something then do it. Do not commit to anything if can’t do it. Learn to say yes or no if you can or cannot do something.
  8. Obey policies, rules, guidelines and safety precautions. Following the policies, rules, guidelines, and safety precautions protects you, your rights, and the company assets.
  9. Family needs. When you take care of your family and household needs you will have little or no personal phone calls, you will choose the right company insurance for the family and yourself. When you take care of your family needs the you can concentrate on company work and time.

At this time I will close with part one of this book. Stay in expectation for part two on How To Be A Great Employee And Just A Good One
