How to Get the Career You Want

Teens are always told, when they are asked, that the way to get the job they want is to do good in school and go to college. There’s more to it than that, and Teens know it. So how do you go about finding the perfect job?

The question always comes up, how do I become what I want to become? That’s a great question, but not enough people actually answer this question for you. there are thousands of teens that ask this question on a daily basis, and all they get is go talk to a guidance counselor or got to this and this college and you can get a degree in it. That won’t get you the job, and sure isn’t an answer to your question. So here is how you go about getting that job you really want in 3 easy steps.

1) Research research research – Most important part of the job finding, and job getting process is know your stuff.Know everything about that job, the ins and outs, the ups and down, everything. Research what you can on the Internet. Put in every search you can in Goggle, For example if you wanted to be an Editor put in: what is an editor, what does an editor do, about editor, editors real jobs, editor as a job, advice to be an editor, etc…anything you can think of. Then talk to someone who is actually doing the exact, perfect job you want. If you want to be the editor of Vogue, contact her. Find an e-mail address, phone number, or write an old fashion letter. Most people will respond to a student looking for information.

2) Got to school – With all the information you got from all of that. You now know exactly what major you need to go, and you probably found a few decent comments or leads on what a good school for your job was. Go to those schools, and drop names if you can. While in school work as what you want to do. If you want to be an Editor, be an Editor. If you want to be a librarian, work in the library. Then in your latter years, intern at the place you want to work for. So when you apply, you have all this experience, and you’ve already worked there.

3) Apply to the place you want. Research how others applied, and how they got their job. Everyone has an e-mail address. Websites show everyone’s email address, and if you call the place they will give you the extension to anyone you want, as long as you have their name. Ask around, ask as many people as you can. Make sure your resume goes to the right person, in the right way….if you can hand deliver it that’s even better. Most companies will allow guests, and if you have the time to wait, it’s the best way to go.

Follow these three easy steps, and you will get the job you want. But remember, a lot of people change their minds when they are in college. That’s OK, just start the process all over again. Do this as many times as you need to, until you are doing exactly what you want to do in the exact place you want to. You deserve the career you want, not the one you settle for.
