One thing you can do to be productive on the job is to regularly get plenty of sleep. If you are well rested as a result of getting an adequate amount of sleep, you will be more alert, think better and have an easier time not drifting off to sleep. Try to get at least seven hours of sleep before going to work. Take a nap that lasts ten to twenty minutes during your lunch hour – you might consider sleeping with your head up to prevent the possibility of oversleeping.
Another thing you can do to be productive at work is to drink a little bit of soda or coffee. Some sodas and coffee beverages contain caffeine, a substance that helps keep you awake.
Make a strong effort to get plenty of exercise and nutritious food. The healthier and fitter you are, the more energy you will have to be productive at work.
Because we are increasingly becoming dependent upon technology and machines, it is important to have great equipment that works well. Try to repair any equipment that is in need of repairs. Keep up with the latest software and technological advances and make sure that all of your computer software and office equipment is updated.
It is important to have a good attitude at the office and be forgiving toward supervisors or fellow workers who are not nice to you. The more positive and forgiving you are, the more you will be able to concentrate and the better you will be able to perform at a high level.
To properly function on the job, you must keep your stress to a minimum. Always stay calm while not getting flustered over trivial matters. Do not let any pressure you feel overwhelm you.
Does your job involve using a computer? If so, work on developing your skills for all of the software applications you need to use. If you must type letters or reports, develop your typing skills so you can do your work quicker.
You can be more productive at work if you take a five-minute break at least once an hour. While taking a break, walk around and drink plenty of water.
Focus on being a good listener. The more you understand your job and the less time you spend asking for every detail to be repeated, the more productive you will be.
Avoid distractions. If there is anything that keeps you from totally focusing on your work such as talking on your cell phone or listening to music, do not do it on company time.
