Indispensable in the Corporate World
Haven’t you ever heard the saying “Nobody is indispensable”? This saying holds true in the corporate world. In our gut, we know when our time has come and soon will be removed from our positions.
Even though you seem to do the right thing at work, it always seems to wrong. Someone is always complaining about you for no reason. You come in to work early. You don’t take a lunch break and work through your break while eating at your desk. You work late when required. You take on extra work just to show initiative. You don’t make any personal calls. You don’t do any personal work at the office. You don’t go around making chit chat with others instead of working. Yet all of this effort doesn’t seem to be noticed.
Somehow just because you don’t fit in with the popular crowd, you are ousted and everyone is aware of your every move just to find fault in something you do. In your gut, you know what everyone is trying to do. You just can’t seem to bring yourself to looking they way they do, behaving they way they do and acting fake just to fit in.
Eventually dread builds ups when you get up in the morning to go to work. You begin asking yourself “Why do I have to put up with this?” The answer to that question is “YOU DON’T”. Your job, position is replaceable. The minute they get rid of you, there is someone who is willing to behave, look and talk the way they want them to. If this is how you feel, it’s time to get a new job. Don’t worry about the economy. If you have good credentials, good personality, present yourself well and are honest – you will find another job.
Nobody likes to start from scratch; but starting from scratch can also give you the opportunity to give new people the chance to get to know you all over again.
Just remember in the Corporate World “Nobody is indispensable”.
