Many high school seniors and adults can attend for the following majors advertising, digital film, Interior Design and Fashion marketing to name a few.
Many colleges have Interior Design as a major. Interior design is a blend of skills ranging from functional to being uniquely creative that makes this exceptional profession. Enthusiasm, organizational, and technical ability are key assets of Interior Design professional. Being people oriented is highly critical and self motivated are also essential attributes. Creative fields are one of the first to be influenced by a poor economy like now in 2009, although the home furnishings industry is a multi-billion dollar market where interior design skills can often be employed in a variety of related positions or markets.
Interior Design major has Associated Degree (AAS) and Certifications (CCL)
Bachelor of Art degrees which has these programs or course Residential Design, Home Furnishings Merchandising, Foundation for Design and Interior Design, Residential Interiors and Residential Planning.
The attitude of the designer is to provide knowledge in design software, skills in drafting and choosing colors and furniture, building structure, heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing, electrical systems and acoustics as well as experience needed to prepare you for career opportunities in the interior design field.
With interior design training you learn to choose the right tools and software to combing form and function to transform public and private spaces, residential homes, commercial design to institutional design from light, form, balance, texture, building materials and scale.
Students exploring these Interior Design majors will explore the problems of designing environments where we live and work, and can learn to develop creative and effective design solutions by studying the fundamentals of space planning, ergonomics and universal design and lighting and furniture design.
Students will also have opportunities to learn to utilize computer-aid drafting and design programs such as AutoCAD and 3D Solidworks and other Cadd programs. They will draw in 2D in AutoCAD and 3D modeling in Solidworks software. There are other desktop publishing programs that will allow students to present their creative design solutions in a variety of media.
Graduating students from interior design will over these 2 to 4 year programs create a portfolio of their work to show prospective employers and have opportunities to pursue interior design jobs at entry-level in many different areas such as the following health care facilities, hospitality design, designs for Air Ports, banks, day spas, fire stations, restraints, museums, schools. These Bachelor of Arts students of interior design can be employed in architectural firms to help architects in choosing fabric and furniture companies, home builders, and kitchen and bath industry. If any of these do not fit your needs you can have your own studio and sell you interior design services to the public. Therefore you can get paid by the hour, contract or bid for the project and complete it to the customer satisfactions and on time and get paid.
The interior design programs are designed to give you a well rounded curriculum that will prepare you for a variety of jobs.
