Have you ever heard somebody say that they are a Domestic Engineer? This will give you a clearer idea of what that really means…an amusing account of everything that a Domestic Engineer does.
What is a Domestic Engineer? I’ll tell you. It’s me—along with all of the other parents out there who are trying to raise contributing members to society and run a household at the same time. If you are a stay-at-home mom or dad or a working parent, you fell into this job—whether you planned on it or not. You may also not have been aware of what this title actually means, so I have taken it upon myself to define a domestic engineer’s role in the work force.
Domestic Engineer — One who is currently caring for a child (or a herd of children), is in charge of daily household duties, and also sacrifices him or herself for the sake of their family.
Duties Include (But Certainly Not Limited To): Midnight feedings, not sleeping, not showering, making breakfast, dressing children, doing laundry, going for groceries, paying bills, running errands, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, making lunch, carpooling, washing dishes, attending sporting practices and events, going to doctor’s appointments, cleaning-up poop…pee…and puke, making dinner, doing homework, bathing children, reading bedtime stories, more cleaning, and ‘hopefully’ find time for YOUR shower before bed…all while keeping a big smile on your face and knowing you get to do it ALL OVER AGAIN tomorrow!
