Job Selection

A person who hits the job market now and then has to have some good tactics in getting across to his perspective employer.My approach is not just going out to hit what is available but learning to eliminate what is counterproductive, damaging or poorly remunerative. Obviously if I really needed to work I would a sacrifice such as was done for a Visa represented company in Canada, working an overnight shift for a year.

I used to look for science work but since I have been many years outside the milieu, I can no longer depend on just those qualities I have acquired much more and have learned to selectively fish. The problem could be that I am over-qualified to some but I also might be under-qualified to others. The motor to start a search is that gut feeling saying I had better look when seasonal teaching is at a lull, more so when recession hits the market and I need to find those other qualities I have largely ignored during the year.

As an adult having had experience in the cultural community working as a co-ordinator, times are rough for me to return especially when the government organization I approach will no longer support people like myself with a degree that does not correspond to my work choice. Aside from the fact that I was just as qualified, I decided not to hit the system further and just look for anything I could do as long as it isn’t menial labor and something during the wee hours of the morning. I would be able to keep a regular normal lifestyle by working during up to 40 hours a week, less in some places and still have a regular weekend.

I also decided just to continue my art and pursue my creative urge rather than to sell products that don’t exist. There are jobs that are not necessarily phone related and are also less stressful than being hooked up for continual calls. One may still have an occasional urge to make some money by calling people and reading a script, it is pretty brainless but one must move on and do something that is more dignified and less damaging to the soul.Similarly one shouldn’t be working outside their ambiance if they don’t want to be questioned on what they don’t know.
