Jobs for Teens
Summer jobs for teens and young adults during this recession.
Since times are tough you might think that it is impossible for people to find work. There is an availability of certain jobs even though he market is slow and they may be in places you would never have guessed. This helps to build character in the child. If the person is shy, he will learn how to interact with adults and this will be an asset especially if he has to go into hospital work. There are other jobs that will most likely arise from the endevour. Here is a short list of opportunities:
- Camps have not gone out of style. Young adults can still learn some people management basics by working wih children. It also helps to create the basis for what parenting requires: patience, the ability to solve problems and teaching kids skills are but a few of these.
- Gas pumps used to require an attendant. There may be some small gas pumps around where the teen can serve the driver as well as work behind a counter.
- Hospitals need stockroom clerks and during the summer they may be doing an inventory of their supplies. This would require someone who can mark or label containers and report what items are missing or what has to be replaced.
- If your teen is somewhat athletic, they can work as a lifeguard at a community pool. Today that may mean he or she will have to clean the pool once swimming is over.
- There are specific country jobs that may be available like planting. This type of work may carry over into other seasons like the early fall when there is the apple harvest in Quebec or pumpkin harvest later on.
- Paper routes have not died out even though fewer people read newspapers. One has to contact the local newspaper office to see where the nearest depot would be. Similarly there are companies responsible for the distribution of local advertisements like Publi-Sac in Quebec.
This is but a short list of the opportunities in the province. People can also go onto job boards and consult their local newspapers for other opportunities.
