Mainstream Skills Are Good and So Are Dreams

I have been a housekeeper in between jobs and it can be a very rewarding prospect when you have this skill or other basic skills. 

Its also handy in between jobs.  Im normally by trade a receptionist.  I also can cook when Im in the mood.  On occaision it doesnt hurt to dip into those creative juices we all have.  It just a matter of having courage to try something if one can.  In these trying times it pays to have some other skills as well if one looks deeply enough into one’s “bag of tricks”.

Im going back to school after all of these years. Back in the 1970’s some of us couldnt aford to go to college or afford any kind of higher education because the middle class in some cases made too much money for their children to do so.  Some of us just never thought to dream of even getting a scholarship.  It was just the idea of one getting a job when it was time.

These arent of course the best of times but one must make the most of it.  We all are capable of something and the money is out there if you can go back to school. 

During the seventies I was told I had skills for the Humanities but I didnt have the heart to tell my 8th grade teacher who was a Catholic nun that I couldnt afford to go on to higher education.   She was a good lady and she meant well and probably would have understood even more if I could have opened up but sometimes when were children this isnt the case.

Mainly were all uncertain of who we are as well.  We all dont always know what we want to be when we grow up.

Well eventually what we truly are catches up with us.  So my hope is that this encourages others to pursue what they thought they couldnt achieve because of their economic situation or because they never thought it was possible.

The thing is you just have to try and check out what is possible for you and what goals you can achieve.

This is a time I think to be creative and industrious if one has the research, capital, know how, stick to it, skills and common sense to pursue what they have dreamed of.

This isnt a bandaide for what is happening its just an encouragement to those who are thinking about pursuing different goals and if they have the resources to do it.  So if you cand pursue it financially and have been looking into projects or higher education and this is the time to pursue it dont wait.

Or maybe your job opportunity is just awaiting you out their someplace.  Try civil service, check out job fairs, apply for a job you might think your interested in or have some skills for but never tried.  Maybe someone can help you find more skills to help you. Look into whatever training you may be able to do especially at the work programs offered at our State Employment Services in your area.
