Mock Interview Process Summary

This is a mock interview that I was put through in High School. I was taking the role of the boss that had to decide what employee to hire. I was given guidelines what to evaluate the employee on while on the interview. The interview was not individually done by each student instead there were a small group of student for each interview. They combined their scores and thoughts a decision was made based on the combined evaluation.

I have decided to interview Jacquelyn B. Huff and Clint P. Beeler. I have decided not to interview Cynthia T. Klein and Terrel L. Vette. Ms. Huff had an organized resume. The paper was good resume paper and no mistakes were found in the resume or in the letter. Ms. Huff’s went to Wellesley College in Maine for her education. She attended Wellesley College in 1998. She graduated Magna Cum Laude. She has years of experience in supporting individuals. Ms. Huff has excellent communication, organizational and computer skills.  She believes she can enhance the productivity of our administrative staff with her skills combined with her creativity and enthusiasm. Ms. Huff has had professional experience as a legal secretary/administrative assistant.  Ms. Huff has had professional experience as an administrative assistant for the Director, her job there was Contract Administration. Ms.Huff has had even more professional experience as an administrative Assistant to the Vice-President, she worked in the sales department.  Ms.Huff can speak fluently in French although we don’t really need that skill in this job. Some of the negatives she has is that she doesn’t list her clearances in her resume paper and that she has had a few jobs in the past for a short amount of time.

Interview evaluation: Jacquelyn B. Huff & reason to hire

During the interview Ms.Huff kept eye contact through most of the interview and using facial expressions to further get her point across. Most people gave her high ratings in most of the categories we were grading our interview on in our rubrics. She greeted us well and communicated well. She did not seem to be prepared for the interview questions.  After the interview I had more information that would help me decide who should be hired or not. After the interview I decided to recommend hiring Jacquelyn B. Huff. I chose her over the other candidate for certain reasons. Ms. Huff has all the skills and experience needed for this job and has worked her job as a secretary for a longer time than the other candidate has worked any of his/her jobs. She left her other jobs so she can work in a legal type environment. She enjoys her similar job as a secretary. She’s organized and that’s important for the job. While she was president of the welcome committee she organized even more. She wants the job because she wants to change environments and jobs. The hours were about the same between her current job and the hours at City High. One candidate had more experience than the other. She was planning to move from her current job she has been working at for a long time to work here.
