One reason why jobs begin to feel stale and unfulfilling is that people go into cruise mode and stop making the effort to improve their skills and knowledge. Regularly search the internet for information related to your professional and contribute to online communities related to your subject. You may even consider volunteering to act as a mentor or preceptor to somebody new to your line of work.
Another way that you can move your career forward is by seeking some professional help in the form of a career councillor or life-coach. These people might be able to offer you some insights or be able to motivate you to revamp your attitude towards work.
Sometimes the reason why your career feels stuck is because you are in the wrong job. Maybe you have outgrown your current employment or it simply wasn’t the right job to begin with. If this is the case then the best thing would be to look for greener pastures. Don’t rush into this type of move, and don’t do something rash just because you have had a couple of bad days at the office.
