In today’s economic climate, many persons may have considered getting part time jobs to supplement their income.
Here are some factors to consider before you snag a job part time.

The current market for part time jobs is very competitive. Many persons are in a similar situation to yours and need a second income.

Additionally, the job market is in a state where some persons are unable to get full time work and are in fact working several part time jobs in an effort to make the sum earned from these part time jobs cover their bills.

Some of the competition may have worked in the areas you are considering getting part time jobs in for a longer period than you have. Make sure that you carefully consider the skills and assets you will bring to the part time jobs or job, even if you are crossing over from another field. Put these in your resume. Also be ready to do a convincing summary of what makes you the best candidate for the part time jobs you are interested in doing.

Ask around about the field and the company you are interested in working for. What do they value in their employees? How do they treat their employees? What do they value as a business? This information can help you to decide whether you will be a good fit for the company and will help you to present yourself with more confidence.

Try to find out what hours you will be required to work for the part time jobs or job you are interested in. If many of these hours are on the night shift and you have small children, have a plan ‘A’ and a plan ‘B’ for their care during these hours.

Consider your tax obligations. Find out what the tax laws are regarding part time jobs in your country. Speak to friends who have worked part time before, or business owners you know who hire part time employees, or persons who are professionals in tax law. There are also sites on the internet that give good information.

hi sharifa, those graphs look intimidating, haha, good thing I’m not looking for a second job. I got laid off in June, so I’m looking for graphs pertaining to first jobs.

Having several part time jobs work for me. I have more freedom. It’s just a matter of proper time management.

You’re right 8She18. Most part time workers have very little benefits.

Athena, from what I see of you time management and administration are definitely your strengths.
It takes those and a significant amount of planning to experience the flexibility that can come with part time work.
    Thanks for your comment.

I’ve tried several full time office jobs before but I now hold several part-time jobs and it’s all online. Sometimes I do miss having to interact with real people daily.
